Seems like u guys are pro in this ht setup. I might be asking in the wrong room, but help me if you can. Planning to move into a new house next year, so wanna buy a ht for the living room.

Budget: rm6k
TV: 55inch minimum, full hd, don't need smart/uhd/curved unless necessary - need recommendation (rm3k)
Sound system: 5.1 setup - need recommendation (rm3k)
Player: currently owns ps3, maybe get ps4 next year. 6k budget doesn't include ps4
Usage: astro hd, dl-ed series/movies in 720-1080p, ps3, music

Question,
1. how to make those integrated system ie; control everything ht, lights,air cond etc through iPhne/ipad?

2. How to setup speakers in diff rooms to play songs from single source eg. Turn on speakers in master bedroom/ study room/ kitchen , to play songs from laptop/PC/iPad/ iPhone. Preferably without wiring. Eg. What I do now is use remote app on my iPhone to control the iTunes on laptop connected to speakers. So I can turn on/off/change songs even when I'm in a diff room. What I want to be able to do is eg. Walk into master bedroom, turn on speaker and play songs from my iPhone. Then later maybe go study room, off the speakers in master and turn on the ones in study room. All controlled by my iPhone. Do-able?

hi, need sifu's opinion here. i am new in AV. i've been using a budget yamaha receiver rx-v377 pair with sony floorstander MF550H in 2.0 configuration, specs as below, normally i listen at 60% volume level. my concern is:-
1. Is this okayish pair?
2. will the speaker clipping the amp?

i heard if install speaker either on ceiling or wall, then have to configure the speaker as "Height speaker" instead of "Atmos speaker" (configure in receiver)...if this is the case, it still consider as Dolby Atmos? it become like 7.1...

sad thing is I stay in penang....currently i have 5.1 speaker (plan to upgrade but stick with 5.1 + 2 atmos enable speakers due to space limitation), if i want to enable Dolby Atmos (1 pair), where is the correct placement for the speaker ?

FYI, this is my current speaker placement: center, main L/R, subwoofer, surround back L/R

i have ceiling fan on top,will this consider distortion if using upfiring atmos speaker?

1st of all, thanks alot for all the detail info  , can you explain a little bit on "extension up and hold ur ceiling speaker on the arm.. sort like a lamp extension"  ?

Im using the old receiver (Yamaha RX-V671) and plan to upgrade to Atmos support receiver soon    currently looking at below model:

by the way, i though receiver output power is equally for all channel (except the subwoofer) example 90 W per channel (8 ohms), so for the case if i upgrade similar like what im having now (from Yamaha 671 to 685), it shouldn't have any issue for the performance, right?

The easiest way not to cut holes in your ceiling is to just do on-walls, high up. It's about as easy as it gets, drill 4 holes - put a bracket, install your speaker - pull your wire.

It's leagues better than the silly upfiring method, doesn't cost too much to do and can be done in an hour or so. Clean up is also minimal.

i think there are some mistake on this "spec sheet", i read through the user manual for Denon 1600, it support Atmos, it even show the speaker configuration and placement strategy to enable the Dolby Atmos in the manual

feature aspect, i think they are almost the same (compare same price range receiver), right? maybe just some extra minor feature, which is not really important? correct me if Im wrong

finally, bought Yamaha RX-A1080 + Klipsch RP-600M (as front speaker) and R-41SA (as front height speaker for Dolby Atmos), currently looking at center speaker, subwoofer and 4k TV....

I am looking at Sony soundbar HT RT40 and Edifier S350db speaker.

I will use them in my living room ( 18ft x 16ft) for movie and music but  noticed that one is with 600watt and another one only 150watts.

which one will be better? sound quality , Edifier will be better? but loud enough to use in living room?

Hi guys.. i bought a new lf 55c9 oled tv.. i am thinking of upgrading my current puny HT setup. I am using WAF-1 front speakers, X-CS encore centre then no sub as my PSB subseries 125 broke down. All is driven by yamah v475. However as my yamaha unit is an old model which is around for 5yrs, i would like to change to a new model to utilize the potential of my new TV. May i know what is the valuable setup for me? Or should i just go for soundbar for ease of use? I cant add the surround speaker as this setup is in a very small bedroom. and i cant hang my tv on the wall as it is a gypsum board type.

i am actually planning to declutter my space as the new tv will eat up alot of my front space.. so seems like soundbar is a more viable option.. but i am open to possibility.
