That's not my setup, just an example that I found for the Prime Elevations.
It doesn't really... work that way? The speakers dictates how a movie (or anything really) sounds like for the vast majority of what you hear. The receiver (and amp) doesn't quite "add" or "alter" that sound quality. It's a bit more complex than that. Different room EQ (in this example Audyssey vs YPAO for Denon vs Yamaha) will work differently in different rooms, which is one of the most important things in home audio. So just with that alone (along with several other variables like the amp section in receivers) already discredit a comparison between receivers.

So to just compare Denon vs Yamaha, which is better for movie... you can't compare it that way in a apples-vs-apples comparison.

You choose a receiver based on the features you want and how deep your pockets are. Not how they "sound".

yea i could be wrong.. it says 5.2.2. So should not be any prob.

Every receiver has its own sound signature and hardware. You need to listen and you will notice the different

The easiest way not to cut holes in your ceiling is to just do on-walls, high up. It's about as easy as it gets, drill 4 holes - put a bracket, install your speaker - pull your wire.

It's leagues better than the silly upfiring method, doesn't cost too much to do and can be done in an hour or so. Clean up is also minimal.

actually if i do a wall install for the Dolby Atmos speaker like what you share in the pic, should i set the speaker to "Front Height L/R" or "Front Dolby Atmos"? 

if i set to "Front Height L/R", will i get Dolby Atmos sound effect? Based on Denon receiver manual, the speaker setting for "Front Dolby Atmos" is design for sound firing purpose (Atmos enable speaker sit ontop of front main speaker)

some minor feature differences and sound also different... some are more sharp some are more warm..

All 3 setups; front height L/R, top front L/R, and top middle L/R will be able to playback Atmos/DTSX effects as long as the source is encoded with Atmos/DTSX.

Buy new set or get this player repair
