Those aren’t really high spec Llumar flavors. Not sure if the price worth it or not.
Also, don’t believe all this “shop will settle saman for you” stuff.

I doubt they'll cover if you pick something that violates JPJ specs.

Bet they will but replace it with cheap, base spec tint.

Just went to Puspakom the other day.
Windscreen not tinted, whole car tinted with clear security film with almost no tinting color.
I took a gamble to not remove the security film.
Result:
Ketulusan cahaya: HDPN- 78% HDPN S.KANAN- 68% HDPN S.KIRI- 68% (LULUS)

Without tinting front already scored 78% (Passing is above 70%), so with tinting, I highly recommend you remove it or risk going back to redo the inspection, which btw they no longer accept same day reinspection.

This. Without tint some car window/windscreen already had VLT percentage and got also car owner rage with Puspakom for this saying their tint follow spec.

Thanks guys. seems the rule still applies but must meet the new VLT criteria. I better tear off the front windscreen tint (50% vlt)

Better remove both front windows tinting as well!
Else confirm will fail regardless of follow JPJ specs or not.
These are done using their equipment under shaded area so will minus more VLT.

The area should make no difference. Any light meter has one end shooting its own light and the other end reading how much of that light is received. Puspakom meters are just fucked up by default, just like their entire organization.

I'm going to drop by Puspakom one day for the RM15 tint test. Can walk in. Going to switch my old Honda City to my daughter but the VKool Elite front windscreen only 2 years old....Sakit hati to tear it off the almost new premium tint. So have to go try test it first. If really cannot pass, might not transfer name.

Last week got free time, drove all the way there....then they say need Car Reg card to register even just for voluntary tint test. Got turned back. Switching name to own daughter with no monetary transaction also so troublesome.

Tinting is one of the main reason for reinspection (more $$ for them).
Maybe you're lucky they didn't check your windows.

But then again, that day I was there, a car for trade in with faulty brake lights also can pass..

Just had my car tint done at IrisPro Puchong. Highly recommended. The workmanship is top notch. Got free upgrade some more. Look for Ms. Ling. Detailed explanation on the spec and price in WhatsApp. Another detailed explanation and given before they start working on my car. I took their Elite series. No problem with Smart Tag.

Initially comparing between Raytech, Hamel, Totalgard and IrisPro. My budget ariund 2k only so my choices are limited.

Raytech dont want to share prices on phone, keeps on asking to drop by their shop.

Totalgard spec was good but based on the feedback on this thread, dont want to take chances with their workmanship.

Hamel spec also good for the price. Did my wife car earlier this year at their Setapak branch. Totally satisfied with the tint and their service. Price about the same with IrisPro just that they got charge for the old tint removal while IrisPro offered to do it for free.

Great, I have been waiting for someone to install and test the elite series can work for smart tag or not.

Did you tint elite 70 for all windows or lower spec. The elite 50 VLT seems too low for front side windows.

JPJ* guidelines state 50% VLT (or lighter) for front side windows, so should pass. Only front windscreen needs to be 70% VLT if you want to conform.

If your “seems too low” is referring to visibility, it likely depends on the user. For me 50% VLT for the front half of the car (windscreen and windows) is still fine for even the darkest unlit underground carparks (as long as your headlights are on). My mum, aged 70+, is quite comfortable driving around with Diamond 60 for windscreen and front windows on her car. It’s mostly the rear boot/tailgate glass you need to be careful with, since going too dark (like below 30%) might affect visibility in the rear-view mirror.

*only for JPJ, different story if Puspakom because their meters are wonky and will minus 10% for every reading.
