For my ex car with VKool, using Smart Tag was a touch-and-go situation (no pun intended). I always had to drive very slowly, put the Smart Tag close to windscreen (I noticed the higher the Smart Tag on the windscreen, close to the rearview mirror, the easier it got detected). And I had to start placing the Smart Tag a few car lengths from the gantry or it would not detect.
Despite this, there were times the barrier would not lift and I had to wait for assistance, or reverse back and move forward again if there was no car behind me.
The easiest way to overcome this was to wind down my window and dangle the smart tag above the car roof - yeah, not glamourous.

FYI, I have friends in Singapore who have to cut a "hole" at the location where they mount their In-vehicle Unit (something like smart tag used to pay for road charge and parking).

but then again you get to experience a better heat rejection than others.

Yea, im driving in KL. Could it be due to the hot afternoon then raining in the evening?

Hmmm.. First time using 3M tint. Didn't know it will have so many problems.

Last time used ECO-tint, no problem at all.

I was always thnking that my City was an isolated case, but seems not when my Jazz, and even your newly tinted car, are having same issue.

Kinda disappointed.

Anyone else having this problem?

Always thought 3M is a better tint. Really disappointing.

Hi guys,

I just got my car tinted with 3M crystalline 70.

At first it looks great. No bubble and clear. But now after a week plus, the tint seems foggy and there is this "halo" effect on car headlights, street light and etc.

May I know whats the problem?

Send back to the workshop and seek for explanation. I suspect they did not use Autosol to clean the window before installation.
I can assume that the effect even worst when it rain or light reflection on your windscreen/window?
What about Smart Tag issue?

Is there any tint shop in Klang Valley that can confidently remove rear windscreen tint by not damaging the rear demister? I need to replace my tint as it is causing too much halo on headlamps at night.

Heard it easy to get scratches on the tint. For 3M tint.
I choose other than 3M last time due to Smart tag issues.

Hi, For new car the chances to remove successfully is higher than older car. But tinted shop will not responsible to any damages happened on rear demister during removing process. You can try request the tinted shop to remove it carefully and still the chances is 50-50 smile.gif

My car is almost 2 years old, so I assume it is new? hehe

BTW, if the demister is damaged, besides the non-functioning line(s), will there be obvious defects that can be seen easily from afar?

The chances are 50/50, the defect will not so obvious if you see it from afar.
Another trick is to claim your windscreen insurance in case you want to replace it. tongue.gif

Hi all,

I have general question about tinted solar for automobile,
how much IRR is needed or it's acceptable by most of the people
To stay in the car comfortably. It will not feel pain when the sunlight touched skin directly.

Is 75% irr and 50% tser is good enough ?

Hi bro, at least IRR 75% or TSER around 50% is good enough if u don't have much budget to go for highest product. But you can only use this method to select film in those Genuine USA brand like Raytech, Vkool, 3M etc. Cuz you get what you pay for.

I suggest not to compare the spec only to select film between brands, cuz in the market a lot of specs provided by the tinted shop are not accurate. You can visit tinted shop to see product demo and feel the heat rejection of the film personally. If possible, request them to use the solar meter (BTU meter) to test the film. BTU meter can show how much heat can reduce by window film. The lower reading has higher rejection smile.gif

Normally most of the tint shop have BTU Meter, you may ask them test for you.

Before Tint is 164 after Tint just left 3.
