Putting 2 layer of tint is it ok? The tint is too light and quite wasteful if have to take it off.

Double layer can? Will it affect the winding up and down?

The first later tint is normal tint not security so quite thin smile.gif

Hi bro, there are few things need to know before you put 2 layer tinted:
1. the warranty of the first layer will be void, second layer will not get warranty.
2. Normally the thickness of normal solar tint is 1.5-2mil. So if you add second layer within 4mil will not affect the power window in long term. Above 6mil tinted might affect the function of power window in long term.
3. The VLT of first layer and second layer need to consider too if you want to compliance the JPJ rules.
4. Front windscreen is not advisable to put second layer, cuz thicker tinted will affect your driving vision especially driving at night.

Hope my suggestion can help u smile.gif

Thanks bro

From what I understand the purpose of security tint is to hold the glass fragments together if it is shattered from outside. After the glass is shattered the whole piece will probably drop down from the window as the window bracket is no longer able to hold it in place. So security tint doesn't actually prevent break in entry. But ALL tinting film will hold the glass fragments together. So what is the purpose of having thick security tint? Can someone explain?

Hi bro,

Many people think that safety films are almost unbreakable and it is safe to put valuable belonging inside the car. If this is what you think about safety films, then you are totally wrong.

The standard thickness for car safety films is between 4 to 6 mil. A good safety film is able to withstand multiple impacts and prevent the glass from breaking within a period of 30 to 60 seconds. You should have enough time to escape from being attacked or robbed.

✔ WHAT IS THE REAL FUNCTIONALITY OF THE SAFETY FILM?
❐ Delay break in time
❐ Increase punctual strength of the glass to 136lb.
❐ Shatter proof to prevent shards of glass from becoming lethal projectiles

✔ ABOUT RAYTECH SAFETY TINT.
Raytech safety films are made in Commonwealth Laminating and Coating, Inc, Virginia USA, and the physical performance is tested and certified by ANSI - America National Standard Institute.

✔ PREVENT CHOOSING A WRONG SAFETY FILM.
We do not recommend 7 to 8mil films. The extra thickness does not improve much on the punctual strength support of the glass. Instead, it will disrupt the power window in a short period of time.

Click in here for more Raytech Tinting Safety Video
http://www.youtube.com/user/RaytechTinting/featured

For America Standard, and IWFA requirement 4mil safety film thickness and above is classified as safety film. The safety film must get the ANSI lab report or certificate on the break strength impact before the product can be release in to USA market. Further more, safety film now is coated with heat rejection material and become best selling product in Malaysia.

However, never make mistake that safety film is unbreakable. Every safety film has its break strength limited. Raytech 4mil Safety film can support up to 134lb break strength. As professional opinion, we never tell the customer how good is our safety film, even the original Raytech USA safety film just can delay breaking time for 20-30 seconds. Further more, although the safety tinted window has broken, the thief need to make a hole on the tinted window is not easy also. Thus, we got just enough time to try escape and drive the car away. An expect smash-and-grab-thief can grab your things in 2-3 seconds. That why meanwhile they will not try target on the car that tinted with safety film windows. Watch the videos below :

Car without tinted glass.

Car tinted with safety fim.

Hope my answer can help u bro. Thanks thumbup.gif

Hi everyone,

basically I already done the tinted at AGARD Puchong.

But since my car got issue, need to go for inspection. So of course I need AGARD to provide me a cert or letter that showing currently I am using 696 model, which the transmission light is pass.

But unfortunately they not going to give me this, ask me come back and stick back (pay labour fees)

Please advise is there any tinted shop can provide this kind of advise?

*note: I saw jpj website show car with tinted can go for inspection, and if the tinted is pass, no need tear off tinted.

And I do remember AIRCOOL provide letter or certificate, anyone has it?

Hi bro, for your info, Puspakom inspection is a bit different from JPJ inspection. Normally, Puspakom require empty window (no tint) during inspection. Make sure your window is no tinted before going for Puspakom inspection.
Not matter what brand of tinted they will tear off the tinted. Normally tinted shop will not cover warranty for this Puspakom case too.

Thanks smile.gif
