Decided to go with 3M after deliberating between 3M, Raytech, Huber Optik and VKool since 3M is a known brand and would have less issue with it.

The Raytech guy referred to me by Lord Gitsy was polite on the phone, not pushy either even after I told him that my partner wanted to survey other brands first considering we would be paying a bit more for the tinting.

However this lady from raytech, I think from Saimatkong site was very pushy and persistent with constant follow up via sms. Didn't like it, so didn't go with Raytech. My apologies to Lord Gitsy on this part though.

Huber Optik, price quoted is 3k+ for full Huber optik package and 1.8k for part huber optik/part different brand.

VKool has some small discount for certain types but this is at JB branch so I cannot say for other branches.

I went with the following tint under 3M for 2k+ cos this is the better tint film recommended.

Crystalline 70 for fws
Nano 40 for the sides
Crystalline 40 for rws

Hi,

I need some opinions/advice from fellow forumers.

I was looking for a security film with decent heat rejection (and not too dark) for my City and was quoted the following.

Solar Gard LX70 - front
Solar Gard LX55 - side and back
Price - RM2600

Can i get opinions on the quality of Solar Gard film and the quoted price?

Thanks!

Not sure about the brand above but have you survey other brands i.e RayTech, Llumar, 3M to compare the prices within the same specs range you want?

For the non-security films, the store did offer Llumar and Huper Optic as well and these brands have similar spec (TSER, etc) and price with Solar Gard. I cant remember the product names, but the prices are:

- TSER = 50%, Price = RM1350 (for all three brands)
- ceramic film, TSER = 55%, Price = RM2000 (for all three brands).

So the price tier is RM1350 - RM2000 - RM2600

When i tried all three (price) types in front of the heat lamp, the RM2k and RM2.6k ones feel similar, with the latter being security film. The RM1.35k one can still feel some heat, but the heat was significantly reduced as well.

I see. but it's better to go for security + solar for side & rear windows. As for front windscreen, best to opt for a pure heat resistance film. So far, RayTech has the highest TSER of 62% (RX film).

Am using Solar Gard LX70 for whole car. In terms of heat rejection, it's on par with V-kool elite.

SolarGard is one of the premium brands in europe, but not many pay attention to it.

Pls google up solar film heat reflection, you will be suprise only a handful of film is reflecting heat and not blocking(meaning absorb). The solargard agent demonstrate this to me. He ask me to stand beside a infra red lamp( not infront). By using the solar film, he was able to reflect the heat from the lamp onto me, just like he is holding a mirror to me.Wow was I impress.

Since, I been googling the term heat reflection and not heat rejection. Also do look for the term SHGC(solar heat gain coefficient). This is the only true value which will show the films heat rejection capability.

NRFC
NRFC

SHGC for both films are at 0.38 for 3mm clear glass. meaning.... brows.gif

Bear in ming that only metalised film is able to do that. So all your IR remote, smartag will be severly affected.

Pls take your time and study. Hope you will find what you want.

For your more information, most of the catalog for window film products in the market is only showing the figure of shading coefficient. Shading coefficient is a value that determines one type of thermal performance of a glass unit (panel or window) in a object. Shading coefficient is not accurate to SHGC. The Window standards have moved away from Shading Coefficient to Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), which is defined as that fraction of incident solar radiation that actually enters a object through the entire window assembly as heat gain. To perform an approximate conversion from SC to SHGC, multiply the SC value by 0.87.

In Raytech, to test how much heat can be resisted by a window film, we will use BTU solar meter to show the performance of our products to our customer during demonstration. Feel free to drop by our shop to see the demonstration if you want to know more. Cheers smile.gif

Yes Solar Gard LX Series is new and the performance is on par with V-Kool Elite
but the product is still new in the market and slightly cheaper, hence it worth for a try

By the way, LX70 or LX 55 is not a security film because the thickness is 2mil - 3mil

Since your warranty is with Tint Shop, you have to bring along the warranty card to the same shop
