Thanks for the advise, but the U series of i7 processor will it good enough on the video rendering processing? as compare with i7-4700MQ
*
not as fast as i7-4700MQ but since you want something thin and light, thats the best for you. you can even take advantage of the IPS screen in the Acer for your photoshop usage, as it has more vibrant colours compared to TN screens.

Nope, 4500u is dual core;4700mq is quad core. In terms of video rendering, 4700mq FTW hands down!

if don't consider the U series, what would be my choice base on my criteria? smile.gif

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand with good quality and warrenty service
2. Budget: below 4k
3. Usage: lightroom, photoshop, premiere pro, light gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: preferred FHD screen if possible
5. weight: as light as possible.

the main point here is not whether get U or not. its the point that i suggest based on your requirements, which is a light laptop. normally light laptops hardly have MQ CPU, so that makes it hard to find a high performance laptop that fits your criteria. if you dont mind about weight, you can look at this :

ASUS
N550JV-CN077H, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080; IPS matte)@RM3799[2.7kg], 4GB, 1TB, W8, backlit keyboard

Cha3m basic usage dont need budget that high. can take a look at this :

Dell
Inspiron 14-3437, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400@RM1399[1.99kg], Ubuntu, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), 4-cell; W8SL@RM1549

price is RSP and negotiable.

Hey thanks for the recommendation. But after walking around at Lowyat just now she likes the ASUS design, cost around 21xx, end up buying that one. I doh.gif a lot because GPU 2Gb is pretty much useless.

haha, as long she likes it, price is never a problem. icon_rolleyes.gif
but IMO, yeah, it is a waste for buying a laptop with that price tag and ended up not benefiting those specs. doh.gif

Hey guys looking for a laptop, preferred brand Asus, Lenovo or anything within budget, which is around 2-2.2k.

Usage mostly pretty minor stuff, music movies and such. Screen size I'm used to 14'.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated thanks! smile.gif

Are you talking about Vostro 5470?
If yes, go to the "Home" section, not the business section.

Vostro entry level business laptop is discontinued already, replace by Latitude 3000 series.
