GIMP I never use before. Normally I use LR only. U can ask Mr.Google or Mr.Youtube.

Go for 35mm. I had no regrets. Bought 50 before, then sold off n got 35. 35mm much more usable indoors.

my stars come from hardware Q&A section, not photography section and it is long long time ago la

ChaosSixth, LR5 should be very easy to find, if you know what I mean
Of course, LR4 is equally good, if you don't have a very powerful rig. LR5 is slower in many ways, especially if you are doing intensive editing

I need a better rig for LR5. Damn lagging when I export the photos.

Slow export might be due to USB2.0 or slow HDD
Upgrading to SSD or hybrid SSD/HDD will improve performance by alot

raid 0 also give very good performance on the LR experience
but always beware that either 1 hdd KO mean all gone.
so backup to other media is crucial

- 28 March : update to me that City-Link will come pickup on next week

Yeah, performance should be decent, even with RAW photos, just remember to set your HDD as scratch disk, that will reduce lag alot

Is using SSD. Just processor and other specs are old skul only.

I'm not really sure, but based on my understanding, Lightroom and Photoshop requires some space to read and write data... so even if you have a blazing fast SSD but not much space in it, it'll still be slower than a HDD
And there are also sayings that there's a limit to how much these storage drives can withstands the constant writing/reading
