i guess you haven't enabled the ssd caching. if you didn't do anything to the bios, then to enable it is pretty simple. just make sure you have install intel rst driver package in full (i.e. not the drivers only but the full suite)

Kudos to you. I can't tolerate N anymore you are still on G hahaha. Is the router beside your laptop or something? tongue.gif
*
Well, even if my router is beside my laptop, I don't think it can go any faster also. At least my router really is value for money after using it for so long. For RM150, been using it since college times. laugh.gif

Well, most of the time I'm using wired but even on wire, it's not on gigabit Ethernet but I have an AC router coming soon. Will be changing it to that. biggrin.gif

wired is much more reliable. even if it's slow, it should be more than sufficient smile.gif (unless, well, you really need more than that to live lol!)

which aw desktop are you using? a more straight forward way is to contact dell for maintenance service. (if it's still under warranty)

wait i think cpu will not make noise so i assume you're talking about the wc fan noise. have you tried clean up the rad? you can take it off easily and do the maintenance yourself.

if the wc unit is confirmed spoiled and not under warranty anymore, you can also replace the stock unit with third party units like corsair h55. (in terms of aurora)

oh ok. the wc unit could be a problem (either water or something building up inside) if after cleaning maintenance was done and it still have loud noise. then you should replace it with a new one.

you can google a bit to find out which wc unit is compatible for your system.

Anyone knows where to get spare fan for the discontinued Alienware M15x laptop? Might I add that the warranty is dead for a few years too. icon_question.gif

The fan just died like yesterday, hardly spinning as no air can be felt at the end of the vents, exactly opposite for the right side, which is constantly spinning at 4k - 4.7k RPM. And by looking at HWiNFO, sometimes the fan for CPU isn't displaying any monitoring data, even if it is, it is only less than 1k RPM. cry.gif

And the overheating is causing they system to auto shutdown once it reaches 100 degrees, even without any major game play, it's pretty much stuck at a reading of 90 degrees. shakehead.gif

Still waiting for Dell to send me a quotation price for the fan, but for the time being, I'm also looking for alternatives. blink.gif

"Reviving" the warranty is gonna cost me RM990 sweat.gif

Thanks biggrin.gif

find on ebay and get it shipped. I would suggest you to replace both the fans also replace thermal compound too after cleaning. This will solve your problem (y)

P.S. you can also check on taobao.com. If you find it thr.. you can get it shipped from china through taobao agents on LYN. Shipping from China is cheap.

.. or you can send a pm to putochip123.

mansooriqbal, i have tested this: for aw, you literally do not need thermal paste for cpu and the cooling is as effective.

heh. Didn't try that. But I notice after re pasting after almost 2 years, my GPU and CPU temps both of them got a LITTLE better. Also I don't mind buying a good thermal paste and re pasting seeing the notebook itself costs a lot.. And I am out out of warranty so it's more of a self service thingy lol.

oh ok smile.gif to me i don't see significant differences (it might have dropped for a few c hehe). of course it's better to apply paste haha! i haven't replaced the thermal paste on gpu. (still stock paste/pad from dell until now) it's always below 73c (bf4; 4+ hrs non-stop)
