Hi sifus,

I'm building a rig for gaming and also for casual use.
Was thinking if the rig below is ok..

[Budget] 3k

[Purpose] gaming and casual use

[Hardwares that will be re-use] HDD

[Monitor resolution] suitable for 1080p movies.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dota2, LOL, CS, any new games

[Personal preferences] gtx 760. SSD

below is the rig i'm planning to get, dont know if sifus think this build is alright.

Proc : Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 (By the way, what difference I will get compared to V2?)
MOBO : ASRock B85M Pro 4
RAM : Corsair PC1600 8GB
HDD : Will re-use from old PC
SSD : Crucial M500 Series 120GB (If this is not ok, maybe can recommend a better 1?)
PSU : Silverstone Strider 500W (Not sure if this PSU can handle this build)
GPU : GTX 760 OC 2GB
Casing : CM K380
DVD: Liteon 24x

Sifus, if you think this build is not ok, do recommend which part I can change. And i realize that alot of build got no cooler. Should I top up some money to put a cooler in?
Above parts prices I am using viewnet, if possible I want to get all from one place smile.gif

Please advice smile.gif

Thanks

v2 is a LGA1155 based CPUs (Ivy Bridge) and v3 is a Haswell based CPU (uses the LGA1150 socket)

Your build looks great. wink.gif If you want some quietness in your rig, then consider investing in a cheap air cooler like the CM TX3 EVO for less noise... tongue.gif

Oh thanks. Does a cooler fan comes together with the mobo or the processor?

Hey there, been out of the building scene for a while, wanna help my friend get his rig:

[Budget]4k

[Purpose]Gaming, video editing

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Mouse and headset

[Monitor resolution]1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dota 2, Battlefield, next gen games, Adobe software (AE, PS)

[Personal preferences] Mouse and speaker not needed, just the PC itself, monitor and keyboard.

[Location] Cheras KL

Would also wanna know if its the best time to get a rig now, are there any new tech coming out soon? Like 5th gen proc or HD9xxx? I really haven't been in the scene, I only know about haswell and HD8xxx series some time back heh.

Thanks!

Definitely GTX 760 for pure performance, right out of the box. Should go for Zotac's, since can get AC4 Black Flag and Splinter Cell Blacklist I think. Maybe got Batman Arkham Origins also. thumbup.gif

Hi, friend of mine suggested me to come here for recommendation regarding PC. This is my first time building one and here's what I have in mind. I'm open to any suggestions. Planning to buy all of the parts from Newegg since I'll be studying in US.

[Budget] RM4k with monitor(around $1234 based on Google exchange)

[Purpose] Gaming. just gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] G9x mouse

[Monitor resolution] 1920x1080

[Games & softwares that use frequently] BF4

[Personal preferences] Open to suggestion, prefer quality brand

Prices are from NewEgg.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 [$200]
Mobo: ?
RAM: GSkill Sniper 2x4GB [$53]
HDD: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM [$70]
GPU: ASUS R9 290 [$500] (not sure if I really want this or nvidia card. Damn it mantle just come out already)
PSU: SeaSonic S12II 620W [$70]
Chassis: ?
ODD: None
KeyBoard: I'll just a find a cheapo KB.
Monitor: ASUS VH238H 23" [$160]

For your reference. Getting all the stuffs from Newegg US might probably save you a little $$ compared to what is quoted below. An exception for the graphic card though, it is almost similar to RM, no thanks to the mining craze in US. sweat.gif

Asrock B85M Pro4 – RM279
Corsair Value Ram 8GB DDR3 1600MHz - RM229

You mean to include in the R9 290 in the quote above? I only include in R9 280X since he has a budget cap of RM3k.
