Wah....... 2 SGs and a Les Paul and now you want a Fender? you switched camp already/??
*
umm.
actually i once had a '93 MIM fender strat which stayed with me for about 3 months tongue.gif
and some guitars i should also never have had, like ibanez RG470, some 80s charvel superstrat with floyd etc.
but thats where the SG with floyd comes in, to finally put a stop to owning other guitars with floyds.

Ernie Ball power slinkys 11-48, regular slinkys 10-46 or hybrid slinkys 9-46.
depending on which guitar.
what i wanna try next is ernie ball's skinny top heavy bottom 10-52 to replace the 11-48...

well i've tried the zakk ones about 3yrs ago when dynamic sound brought them in.
to really use it properly you need to modify the nut slot.
plus zakk doesnt use 60s or 70s in standard tuning anyway.

I've played his guitar before and I must say it's nuts... it feels weird imo, the first 3 strings being very light and the last 3 felt darn heavy. Pretty good for riffers who wanna belt out shred solos I guess... definitely not for me.

Speaking of strings, gauge 8/9 strings are pretty fun to play too, I think they go pretty well with Fender guitars, probably a tele. The sound's very twangy. Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck used to use gauge 8 strings on their Les Pauls so that they could perform wide bends, maybe I should try that one day. thumbup.gif

ive installed ZW boomers on my gat before... have to get new trem springs and retune the innotation...
its really great for pinch harms and powerchords but i must say.... the wounded G is one tough b*tch to handle... bending the G is like 10 times harder
it would probably be ok to install ZW boomers on a LP but to all trem users.... STAY AWAY...lol
installing new trem springs.... readjusting the truss rod... etc

currently using 10-52s.... will probably stick with this one for my rg

Actually....... Zakk DOES use them...... that's one of the key things to his sounds. He rarely (if ever) uses normal tunings. It's always a full-step down with the now D dropped to a C for the albums (Stronger Then Death and above) and it's a Full-step and then another half step down with the D tuned to a C also when he plays live....... That's why he uses such heavy gauges. For his normal tunings.... he usually tunes the E to a B and keeps it there..... that's when he uses the .70s. Rest of the time, he uses the .60s.

Trust me......... I'm the Zakk Wylde fanatic here. I use the heavier gauge because most of the time, I play riffs more often (usually drop the last string down a full step and just barr the bottom 3 strings) so I get a nicer chunky sound when playing metal. And the heavier gauges are EXCELLENT for Pings of Death..... Some how with lighter gauge (Like what's on my Epi Zakk Wylde), the pings arn't as heavy as my LP-100..... waiting to change the pick-ups and strings to get it's full potential!!!

ALSO...... he coils he strings around the tailbar..... another reason why he uses the thicker gauge.....

FYI...... will try to go down to Bentley hopefully tommorow to pick up the errmm.... pick-ups.... if they still have 'em. Then get 'em fixed on Tuesday at Woh Fatt...... Bentley charges crazy for pick-up installation...... Rm50 for each pickup!!!!!!!!!!!
