Banks take both the IC and Passport no. Passport also have IC. no. in the front page. Some lazy one will scan only the passport for record. The IC no. is to prevent your same name brother or sister come saying passport expired donkey years ago and his passport is the new one to claim your money.
*
infact SG Banks here accepts Malaysia Blue IC to open up a savings account....

Hi, today the HR call me and ask for interview. They even provide me flight ticket for me. My question is, how long the distance from Changi to Jurong East? What is the faster transport to reach there? TQ.

Not sure bout the M'sian local uni but my company just hired a few pinoys/pinays for IT positions and I do know that a few of them only have diplomas in hand. I do think that you can still try and see if you lucked out, for me it all depends on how you sell yourself (resume, cover letter, interviews etc).

Thanks for the article, good to hear that the price are cooling down, even by a bit. Just called HDB folks, I am not eligible to buy HDB as I am only PR for barely a year.
I want to go back to semi-retire one day, kids wise I do not mind either place as long they don't mind it. I am looking at minimally another 8-10 years before I will make the move back to KL/M'sia unless I go big and earned well enough to retire earlier.

You actually converted to SG? Was it tedious/long-winded and how long did it took you? Only you convert or both you and your wife? No worries fi you not keen to share too much private info publicly, I don't mind PM if you want. Just like to hear out from fellow M'sians before I make my move.
*
Paperwork is as tedious as apply for PR. But additionally u need to complete some e-learning courses, join the citizenship ceremony and also complete some tour... Just need to schedule your time lo...

Me and my son is sgporean now, my wife is still Malaysian as I had the same idea to have a 'backup' plan... But we're looking to get her converted soon too!

I guess if you high earner then can live without the subsidies and then go back kl to live like a king when retire... But for us... Not so elite class have to get government assistance lo... Haha we've lived in Sg for 8 over years already... So accustomed to it, so it's now out comfort zone... But in fact, if things go swell this year we may even relocate to shanghai but remain Sg citizens to keep the house and collect rent.

To add, it may be tough for your kid at a later age to move to Malaysia after being in singapore.. They will lose all their friends smile.gif

Hmm you got pretty much the same idea that I have here, I don’t really earn like really a lot but should still be able to live comfortably here without converting to SPR. Problem is I am tempted by the money and benefits that my child and wife can enjoy if either me or my wife convert. It will certainly help out well smile.gif

How long did the whole process took you? I wanna see if it is possible for me to wait till I can confirm on my baby’s gender or if I have more time to think/talk before my baby pops out.

Good luck on your Shanghai plan too! I like the place but I am rather worried of the crappy air condition there, not really good for health.

On kid to go back M’sia, that’s another headache too, hmm… Really a lot to consider for myself if I really wanna go back M’sia one day. Need to talk this out with my wife once I get sufficient info sweat.gif

Now that we have established that IPA can be used to open an account and for accommodation purposes, I have another question.  blush.gif

1) Say I want to collect my EP using my IPA and other documents but I haven't yet found a place to stay in SG. Will MOM refuse to issue me the EP until an accommodation is found?

2) In addition, say again I do not have a physical address in SG but I want to open a bank account first. Will the bank allow for that and use my Malaysian address or will they just refuse to open an account for me until I obtain a place to stay in SG?
*
1. In my case, company address as my resident address
2. POSB use my Malaysia address. Even my banking token (TAC generate device) was sent to my Malaysia address too.

That's if you fulfil the "resident" criteria.
