QUOTE(seantang @ Dec 31 2013, 12:36 AM) Have you heard of Illumina? Ticks both your boxes. Have a friend who works there. American company, pays extremely well and offers niche biotech experience. And if you like travelling to US, my friend is like 3-6 months a year for lab engineer / scientist. All right. I will try it out...Can't offer you a lubang since I don't know you, but they are always interested to hire as there's limited people in this industry. You can try their website. I saw some opening in their websites now Thanks ! |

Is it illegal for an individual with a social visit pass to stay at a friend's place who rent the room with a valid pass ? Initially, we rent the place together but currently I am in a job hunting mode.

QUOTE(studyboy @ Jan 1 2014, 09:17 PM) This is good news to me!! What about a bank account? Can I open one with an IPA? I think we can open a bank account with the IPA. I manage to open a bank account with POSB/DBS.Edit: Thank you! In addition, which lane should I use when passing through immigration? Can I enter Singapore via the EP pass lane using the IPA? Apologies for barrage of questions! I am just slightly overwhelmed that is all. Any form of guidance will be much appreciated! Check with your HR which bank they prefer for their company payroll. |

They will need to check whether they still have the quota to issue work pass. Hopefully, everything can go smoothly. Thanks seantang ! This post has been edited by LalaBubbles: Jan 3 2014, 10:49 AM |

Please help SP need to pay a deposit of $200. This post has been edited by LalaBubbles: Jan 13 2014, 12:13 PM |

QUOTE(razo2 @ Jan 13 2014, 12:17 PM) I think there is big difference between EP and WP. When I first came here, I needed to close my DBS account and create a new POSB account. I went to the bank recently at POSB to open a new account. Then this smart ass guard came and ask," Do you have work permit?". My answer was yes. He told me,"Ok you can go out (of the bank) now.". So, I f*cked him back by saying,"Do by any chance know the exchange rate for Ozzie dollar to Sing? I be changing a large amount." He didnt know I was an EP holder. I didnt really get what was his motive but it surely did piss me off at that moment. I think WP has some limitation. The bank officer is giving me a hard time and said that the bank need to incur a certain amount of fee. When she found out I have some deposit in my previous DBS account, she change her attitude and it's free of charge. |

QUOTE(aLertz @ Feb 26 2014, 10:33 AM) hi all, Congratz Just gt a job offer for a software developer job in SG and of course i accepted it. Currently serving 2 months notice in my current company and also planning on the relocation. Will be working at Ubi Techpark. Still looking for room. The big problem would be moving my stuffs, still deciding whether to go in by bus or plane as i'm staying in Penang. Is there any problem bringing my desktop PC into SG? Will the custom tax me for electronic stuff so big? sorry if it's a noob question since this is my 1st time relocating to another country I personally recommend u to take a flight. I took a bus before from Penang to Singapore and it took freaking 12 hours. Usually, the custom wont tax you if it's a used item and declared it as a personal items. But don't over do it la.u can move bits by bits... |
