Just my opinion.

I had asked the same question to many markers and teachers, everyone agreed that "1" is the safest way.

And, are you the elected marker ?  sweat.gif
Negative, just wondering because you seem to know a lot about the SPM education system. laugh.gif

Quite surprised about what your teacher said. IMO Linear Programming (the graph part) is harder than this chapter. It's all about the matter of practices, the more you practice, the easier this chapter becomes, and you will feel like walking on breeze when you answer this question tongue.gif

The answers are below, with brief explanations in it. I'm just not quite sure about part B, others I'm okay with it.

One of the examiners that came to give a seminar said combine apparatus and materials into one entry, so you don't need to classify.

Hmmm .... hmm.gif

Btw, I am referring to Paper 3, Q1, sometimes the last question to catergorise a list of items into material and apparatus.

But Linear programming just finding the inequalities abit hard rest okay, though my favorite is still form 4 question for section C.

@ALL :
Btw since we are on the topic of linear programming I also got question tongue.gif

I am not sure if my inequalities are right or otherwise.

Question

QUOTE
Fatimah wants to bake X orange cakes and Y chocolate cakes. To bake 1 orange cake, she needs 60g of butter and 150g of flour. To bake 1 chocolate cake she needs 120g of butter and 100g of flour. She has only 4.2kg of butter and 6 kg of flour to bake the cakes. The number of orange cakes baked is at most 3 times than that of the chocolate cakes.

Here's what I came up.

1. 3y >= x
2. 60x + 120y =< 4200
3. 150x + 100y =< 6000

Yes, sometimes there will be question in P3Q1 where you are required to categorize the apparatus and materials.
Regarding the 'student', it depends on the questions.

Student is a bit hard to picture, but you can imagine with light matches. So imagine in an experiment, you're using matches to measure the LENGTH, where you come out with your results as '1matches, 5 matches etc'. In this case, it's apparatus. As you can use it again.
But in most cases, we use light matches to light up something. So that one match can be only used once, hence it's categorized as material.

Just a quick question , do you guys practise Modern Maths for the time being ?

Anyway , I'll reduce my visits to this thread nearing SPM as I just want to relax and clear my mind off any mental stimulation or distractions . I've been receiving a lot of messages about forecast questions and 'leaked questions' and I've deleted them all . Anybody who wants to contact me can do so via FB .

Also , I will only add your name to the Candidates List if and only if you've been here , and your posts in this thread must exceed 10 ( I've been receiving a lot of PM's from silent readers , I don't think I can add all of them here ) .

work_tgr , any changes in the mark scheme , if any , will be minimal . LPM wants to test students' mastery in the subjects , not their prowess in memorising answering techniques .

In Physics , diagrams are allowed to explain a certain phenomenon ( e.g refraction of waves as they approach the shore , or explanation on the formation of pattern of water waves under a ripple tank ) and marks are awarded accordingly . There are no strict rules ( tables , essay , point form can all be used ) --- and I'm very sure of that . In these 2 years , I've incessantly questioned SPM markers and attended workshops conducted at school , and all of them point towards the same thing . If you want even more confirmation , take a look at Trial papers' mark schemes .

A > B is always accepted because it's a universal mathematical symbol , and universal mathematical symbols are always accepted in Physics SPM .

In chemistry, can you replace terms like molecules,ions with particles. For example, the rate of collision between the particles increases instead of the rate of collision between zinc atom and hydrogen ions? Also, in certain experiments is it necessary to state the volume and molarity?

I always write the exact name of the particle .

Yes , neutralisation / standard solution and R.O.R experiments require you to specify the volume and concentration of the solution ( s ) used . However , if the term 'beaker' , 'measuring cylinder' or 'test tube' is used , volume is not required .

No , both volume and concentrations are not necessary but I normally provide them .

Yes , I attempt all essay questions in all three sciences . But in SPM I think I'd do only 2 if I'm really confident with my answers , then spend all the time left checking and re-checking .

I rarely do, maybe practice a bit on matrices, earth as a sphere, transformations, sets and the last chapter of f4. Others, meh tongue.gif

Mine are quite short because I get lazy during exams, but I think I'll write a little longer for SPM. I currently write about a page-length; opening, 3 points and conclusion.
