Bro, reread your quote - it says RM50 for Maybankard 2 Card. Not Cards. Just kidding with you  tongue.gif
Maybank does have the rights to change any clause anytime. However, I think they need to give us Notice like they previously did when they revised the 5X TP to 2X TP for Education, Insurance and Government Agencies. But then again. we were not given Notice when they inflated Treats Points for redeeming stuff.

Anyway, if you got time to waste, click here to my article Maybankard 2 Cards GST Is Now RM100. Mentioned both Human Nature and cybpsych initiatives to inform existing cardholders of the good news  biggrin.gif

always a pleasure reading Gen-X's articles about CCs. notworthy.gif

not to forget credits to the original posters (starting from post #336 who gotten the call from Maybank or dug out the PDS/T&Cs too. thumbup.gif

from here, all hell broke lose, even waking up the slumbering Gen-X laugh.gif

Thank you  smile.gif

I will actually still keep the card if I have to pay RM100 but I will really grumble alot on paying RM50 for the useless Visa  laugh.gif

true for those who always max Amex out smile.gif quite a burden to those with small spending

alternatively, can get MasterCard Ikhwan Card-i which gives 5% Cashback (Fri & Sat) but only 1X TP. I guess still better than forced to pay RM50 for the disappointing Visa/Mastercard from mbb2cards. Cant cancel it without cancelling both combo cards.

Hey guys, just realized that credit card is a complicated stuff! So my objective is to get cashback on petrol pumping. I don't have the requirement for platinum card yet so here are my choices after some research:

1. maybank 2 gold card. The porblem with this is the RM100 GST charges. I probably spend RM200 petrol/mth, and only weekend can get 5% quite troublesome. (just breakeven!)

2. HSBC?? . This one also.. only 5% weekends..

Any better suggestion? I used to remember last time 5% daily, everyday. laugh.gif

Agree with you Citibank Cash Back Platinum is pretty good for petrol as one earns 5% cash back everyday for petrol at any station.

However, the guy not even willing to pay GST RM100 for the Maybankard 2 Cards which can be easily be offset with just RM200/month spending on weekends and he will earn Treat Points too. So, I don't think he will be happy to pay the annual fee for the Citibank Cash Back Platinum and also the RM50 GST next year.

Looks like UOB One Card more suitable for him where UOB still willing to waive annual fee.

But the 900k monthly quota set by UOB usually runs out by the 15th of every month....so the card is pretty much useless for the later part of the month !

last month i tried one transaction on 26/6 and i still received the 5% on this month's statement. maybe many stopped using by 15th so the 900k still not run out yet and i still get the 5%. icon_rolleyes.gif

HSBC just can't stop to piss me off.

Previously, I have posted at my Facebook Account that I was so frustrated with HSBC automated tele-machine which required me to press this and that before getting to speak to a human being and how HSBC begged me to give them another chance. Well, a few days ago, I logged into my HSBC Online Account and was shocked to know that I was charged the annual fee for my HSBC Visa Signature Credit Card; and worst of all, HSBC charged me Late Payment (which is a very detrimental thing as it will tarnish my Credit Report, i.e. CCRIS report).

So once again I had to call HSBC Customer Service and go through the irritating process of pressing this and that. I told the guy who answered my call that I was told that my annual fee would be waived. He then started off with the standard bull-shit that "it is the bank's policy that we pay upfront the annual fee and HSBC will reimburse us later". That pissed me off big time again. I had to explain to him again that HSBC offered to waive my annual fee the last time I spoke to them. So he checked HSBC system and indeed there was a memo stating that my annual fee is to be waived. Why can't he just check the system before opening his big mouth to piss me off?

Click here to read my article titled "My HSBC Visa Signature Pisses Me Off Big Time" where I compiled 3 of the previous postings at my Facebook Account plus what transpired in my recent call to HSBC. In this said article I also gave suggestions to HSBC on what actions they are to take if they want to retain me next year.

Hi all sifus here. I need some suggestions on damage control with this issue :-

I have like 500,000 + points accumulated with Alliance Bank.
The chekai bank devalued the points by 100% without any notice.
When i complained to relationship manager, she said - convert to enrich miles where the conversion rate has not been changed yet.
Problem is I usually don't fly out of KL. So, I am thinking maybe I can try converting to enrich miles and try redeeming other ONe World partner airlines which fly out of my usual exit airport at Spore. Not sure how the maths on how this conversion will work out

Anyone knows if this is a good choice? or will i be better off redeeming for cash vouchers?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance,ya.

If you want a serious answer, both cards are not good, unless you have a specific reason or receive a very special promo.

Sorry I have no time to go through if this has been posted, but I think I really need to share it here so that everyone is aware that Citibank is refusing to waive annual fee this year.
This is what I posted on their Facebook:-
"I believe that many have faced the same problem with Citibank, on their latest decision not to waive any annual fee. This is totally unethical considering the fact that they have made many promises when I questioned on the annual fee for the past few years. They have been committing to us that they will waive the fee as long as we call in and are actively using the card, so far no problem. This was also one of the main reasons I have not cancelled my card, as they have made all these promises. Moreover, I spend a lot as this is the only card I’m using. However, this year they decided otherwise, probably due to narrowing margin and they pass the cost to the customers. This is real nonsense. I don’t think any of us should give in to this.
They called me to explain all those nonsense and justification on how good is my Citibank Premiermiles card, treating me like an idiot who do not know the competition. Told me all those benefits compared to other banks, again downplaying our awareness that many other banks having similar or better benefits. Offered me 50% off the annual fee. Offered to convert my Premiermiles card to other life time waiver points earning card. My answer to all these is a big NO.
Eventually they agreed to waive the annual fee and I will transfer all my miles and cancel the card immediately. Shame on Citibank. I think all victims out there, you should lodge a report on them and go hard to the social media to spread their unethical business practice. Stop applying Citibank card unless you wish to pay RM 600 per year (i.e for Premier Miles)."

Bro, next time you better read the terms and conditions before applying for a card. I believe no where in the T&C did Citibank ever promised to waive their credit card annual fees. You claim that Citibank CS may have inform you this and that, but in the T&C (all banks), it is clearly stated that they have the rights to change any policy.

Anyway, you should be happy as Citibank was kind enough to waive your annual fee.

Moreover, last year Citibank rewarded their new PremierMiles members with 60,000 Enrich Miles - where one can redeem a one-way trip on Business Class to Europe. These people has nothing to complain about if they are charged the annual fee the following year.

And for those who benefit from the FREE taxi rides equivalent to more than the annual fee, they got nothing to complain about too.

And if you refer the threads here, the most active thread is the FREE FOR LIFE Maybankard 2 Cards where the AMEX conversion of Treats Points to Enrich/Kris Flyer Miles is even better than Citibank PremierMiles.

For my case, Citibank has been good to me. They waived my Platinum card last year and this year after I begged them (once only and they waived it on the spot).

Anyway, what's the big deal if any bank don't want to entertain our request for annual fee waiver. Just terminate the card and go get one that offers some kind of annual fee waiver mechanism - and if we are unable to satisfy the conditions to be eligible for auto waiver, don't apply for it.

Moral of the story is - if one is not willing to pay annual fee for a credit card, redeem all points and stop using the card a month before the anniversary date and be prepared to terminate the card comes anniversary date.
