during cny i went to genting casino try my luck.....unfortunately i lost almost 3.5k T.T!~

1.4k by cash , another 1k + 1k cash advance from credit card

just want to share that i'm swiping that mbf & hong leong cc at the same cashier in casino with amount 1k each card

the staff told me 1.85% will be charged from genting and another 1%~5% will be charge from bank , i acknowledged it

at first , the stupid staff was swipe 1k on my mbf card & when the PIC on duty double check for it and realized the staff forgot to add on the 0.185% so there swipe for another RM18.50

few day laters , i check for my mbf online statement

Genting Berhad RM1000
Genting Berhad RM18.50
Cash Advance Fee RM50
Cash Advance Fee RM15

so i believe tat cash advance fee for RM1000 was 5% which is RM50
&
for that RM18.50 , thr aren't swipe for retail purchase but is cash advance as well , so bank charge me RM15 (i believe that is minimum RM15 or 5% whichever is higher)
_______________________________________________________________________

i do swipe my hong leong cc at the same time , this time the staff clever d.....she directly swipe RM1018.50

and the statement was

Genting Berhad RM1018.50

compared to that 2 statement , very obvious that MBF card was money eager !
and that stupid staff make me lost RM15 for her mistake

i been using my mbf card for almost 4 years , the stupid bank never increase my limit (even i hv request , there keep asking me for pay slip/epf/bank statement.......but for my others bank CC , there straight away increase my limit without any document needed) & the card no benefit as all !

PS. i'm not showing off or asking for donation , i js would like to share my experienced

thanks

Well, thanks for sharing.

For the first swipe with the MBF card, I doubt that your claim that MBF is money eager. It was charged based on type of transaction. Since the RM 18.50 is swiped as "Cash Advance" and not as "Retail Swipe", you have to bear with the cost. I believe the staff can choose the type of transaction on the terminal such as "Normal/Retail transaction", "Cash advance" and "Installment plan".

On the other hand, for the second swipe with the HLB card, if the staff made the similar mistake, you'll be charged the same fashion as the MBF card.

All banks are NOT stupid and they're here for not giving free lunch.

Not that I want to make fun of anything or anyone, but if banks making free money off the customer, who is the really stupid one?

You probably have a good case, this doesn't look like a site which qualifies under the standard cash advance category. But it is possible you might just be charged cross-border transaction fees (some banks do this even on normal retail transactions). I suggest you go ahead with the dispute and see how.

Based on what you shared, it appears like Genting is the one with the most fault here. But this is not so much a credit card issue but rather more like the cashier swiped the wrong way and did not resolve the mistake in the best possible way.

I think this is the 1st Reserve Amex launch in Malaysia...

With the OCBC Titanium now offering only 1% rebate, I'm planning to cancel it.
Question is:
1) which card should I replace it with? (will use for F&B and shopping)

The reason being i went with OCBC Titanium = had 5% rebates (though not everywhere) but still 5% was pretty darn good..now 1% flat - defeat the purpose of me getting it.

Added:
Would you say that Allianz Bank's You:Nique card is similar to OCBC's Titanium?

yes, for f&b and shopping, amex should be your first choice. 5%+2% for weekend or 2% for weekdays. second choice would be aeon watami 3% everyday for everything with minimum quarterly expenses of rm3k (except for petrol) max cash rebate capped per quarter rm150.
