If I have already have an ongoing application with Maybank at one branch, can I go to the other branch and apply the same credit card or ask them to follow up on my application?

I applied at the Queensbay Mall Maybank weeks ago where I completed the forms and one of the officers verified my forms and helped me to submit but when I called in to ask, the bank said documents was incomplete, turns out some important parts of the forms were left unfilled. So I tried to get in touch with this guy again but he is on leave half the time and the other staffs would not really help me to follow up on that.

Got really fed up with the service at this branch and really want to change to other bank but one of the officers told me it can't be done, does anyone of you have simialr experiences?

You can re-submit your application through email or fax direct to the card center, not necessary to go through branch. Since the old application is not complete, it will not be processed. For good measure, write a letter to the guy that your old application is considered null and void.

I just published an article on overseas transactions comparing my Maybank Visa Infinite vs Alliance Bank VI vs UOB VI. From my findings, my Visa Infinite conversion rates are like more than 3% above Visa's rate and that would make it above 4% over the spot rate. But with the 5X reward points, I get like 2% cash back with the MBB VI and ABB VI but not the case for the UOB VI.

The article also includes a sample calculation as how to determine one's credit card overseas conversion fee over Visa's.

And I also included overseas transactions shared by ronnie, bear bear and parsona with their RHB Visa Signature, AEON Gold and AEON Watami respectively. And those of you who do no visit the Foreign Exchange Rate Thread will be shocked to see AEON cards exchange rate.

Click here to read my article The Best Credit Cards for Overseas Transactions 2014

Hi,

I got question on the CC expiry month / year.
If I still got outstanding balace on my CC on expiry month / year?

What would happen?
Should I clear off all the balance before expiry?
If no?

Any recommended credit card with cash rebate for payment of property assessment and quit rent? Previously cash rebate of 5% available for OCBC titanium card but no longer available this month.

Outstanding Balance is a debt, unless you want to have bad credit history, better you go settle your debt.

Nowadays, max cash rebate you can get from government agencies bills is 3%, and that's with conditions.

If your Assessment bill is less than RM1K semi-annually, it does not make sense to go get another credit card because after deducting RM50 GST you ain't getting much in cash back or maybe nothing.

However, if you do spend like more than RM1K/month consistently, and need a replacement card for your OCBC Titanium MasterCard, click here to read my article titled The Best Cash Back Credit Card Combination 2014. You will note in this article that the AEON Watami is good for those who spend RM3K per quarter and Alliance Debit Cards may just be what you are looking for.

If you have the Maybankard 2 Cards - the AMEX does earn you 5% cash back on weekends and many local council do accept AMEX. Check with yours.

Hi Gen X
thanks for sharing. Have tried to pay assessment bills using Amex previously but somehow transaction rejected. Thought of applying Hong Leong Wise which offers 10% rebate but not applicable for assessment bills and quit rent. Looks like not much alternative to OCBC titanium card.

you can opt for 0% installment when paying for an item at merchants like tesco/harvey norman/courts/etc.
so let's say your item cost rm2,000 and the 0% installment is for 12 months.
then you just need to pay rm166.67 monthly.

however, if you purchase an item without the 0% installment at rm1,200 and pay installment at rm500 per month yourself, you will have to incur monthly interest on your cc.

yes, both stanchart and ocbc are using MBF pay service, so both can use cc to pay cukai tanah and pintu

Can you not wait to get the item? Just save your money over the few months before buying it. I strongly advise you not to incur credit card interest by buying the item NOW.

And if you insist, RM2000 with min RM500 per month, total need to pay RM2078 with interest at 18% pa and also assuming you do not make any further swipes to that credit card.

18% p.a is equals to 1.5% monthly interest.
rm2,000 become rm3,000 means 50% interest.
that would be loan shark interest! laugh.gif
