Any reviews from new Almera owners?
*
I think it is generally a good car. My basis for comparison is mainly between Almera and Vios (since my mom owns a Vios and I've been driving it before getting this Almera)

FC = My mileage is less than 500km and I'm getting around 9.7l/100km 95% city drive. My mom's Vios clocks the same consumption. If you're paying 65k for an Almera vs 100k for a Prius C, you have 35k to spend on petrol! biggrin.gif

Noise insulation = Pretty good. Engine is silent when in operation (compared to Vios)

Comfort = Tons of space, and bumpy roads don't feel uncomfortable. Actually, going over bumps is a joy biggrin.gif

Handling = The steering wheel is super light but I can feel significant body roll when cornering at higher speeds (worse than Vios)

Acceleration = I'm a light-footed driver so I prefer to step on the pedal gradually to build speed. The CVVT engine is very smooth (I'd say it's between CVT and Vios' engine in terms of smoothness). However, pick-up wise, the Vios is better.

Interior = It's not ideal. It seems pretty ugly and dated. However, it is simple and has all the basic necessities you need in a car. Simplicity also means less potential for parts to break down, and stuff will be easier (& probably cheaper to repair). The front pillars of the car gives pretty much an identical blind spot as the Vios.

Exterior = I personally found the Almera awful without the bodykit, which prompted me to spend 1.5k on the Impul bodykit.... The bum still looks a bit awkward, but the front and side look waaaay better with the bodykit on.

Safety = Well, let's just say many Jap carmakers take advantage of the fact that Malaysians care more about a car's looks rather than its safety. However, if you drive safely and defensively, you're more likely to stay alive than a person who drives like a madman in a car with a gazillion airbags.

Overall, 65k for the lowest spec-ed auto variant is pretty okay for what you're getting, given it's a foreign car brand with less headaches (reliability, servicing).

My 2 cents.

i frankly believe this is very fair review

this car is not perfect but its actually value for money
for 65-67K range. comfort wise and NVH level this is the best money can buy

abit turn off is just 1 airbag for cheapo level but i am ok with it lo

just my personal opinion la

all those will not bring major improvement to the car because our car are not performance car. just normal family car. even if it does i doubt it worth for your money.
same to fuel saving product.

Almera is 41 liter tank. Simple calculate, u can use KM travelled divide by 40 litre. Eg: 400km on full tank 40litre. U get 10L/100km. Easy right

Of course Nissan will quote higher or better FC to attract buyers. Even the inidcator reading of l/100km is underread. thus you will think your car have good FC. So it is not accurate unless your calculate it manually.

So far my car FC i dont think is good, the indicator shows 7.5l/100km for city drive, and if jam will up to 10l/km. Note: Normally i will stuck in jam for sure. So usually I pumped RM50 can stand for around 250km or lesser only. sad.gif

No because I tested the attrage as well after that since the showroom was only next to Nissan and I found that I like the cvt more compared to the 4at on the almera

just want to seek some comments from here on this issue.

budget aside, do you think the extra features in the high specs 1.5 VL as opposed to the lower spec 1.5 E(A), really worth the rm10k ?

1 extra airbag, sports rim, better fine vision display, start stop button, intelligent key, auto aircon control, fog lamps, steering wheel audio control, chrome door handles.

comments please

the SA offered me a 4k rebate, still thinking of getting it?? besides the internal design issue, is there any setback of this car compare to vios??

due to my budget, i personally still think that almera is the best deal, better outlook of city & vios with 10k extra, is a non-value added feature...

I'm driving 1.5 E(A) and I'm pretty satisfied with my car biggrin.gif

To me, the most important upgrade is the 1 extra airbag. Other than that, you can probably live without.

Once you own your car, you'll probably forget about the extra features VL spec gives you. You'll be happy with your new wife and sayang it anyway (give it a bath from time to time) drool.gif

RM10k is a lot of money.....(even more if you add in loan interest)

Take the cheaper spec and you'll be glad you've done so after 2 weeks biggrin.gif

he quoted somewhere around 1k, but if wait until that time, the 2nd hand value of the current car might drop more than that...so still thinking of the 4k rebate offered..

3 cylinder car will produce more noise at high speed but does not mean it will kill the engine. 3 cylinder will hv higher RPM as well.
my kenari with 3 piston mileage was 250k and i am constant hi-way drive at above allow speed limit.
and it last me for 8 years without a problem. except for wear n tear.

but of course 4 cylinder is more quiet n more nice to drive for high way la

Nissan cars in terms of NVH can be consider the best comparing with honda n toyota..for b segment class..almera NVH is much better than vios n city..and for D segment..Teana is way better than accord n camry..I think Tan Chong should be more aggresive promoting Nissan brand to fight with toyota n honda..

i believe even with the tint, window glass will still break because the tint is inside, isn't it.
but from my survey with cool world, they will provide 5 years all window insurance (RM500) with rhind pro tint, rm650 for almera. 15 years warranty for bubble, jpj...

can the speed be set by myself?
after installation, is there any risk to void Tan Chong warranty?

thanks in advance

Hi Guys I received my Bronze Gold Almera E model with add on sport rims and body kit. Stearing is very light compared to my Waja and Saga. Just drive for 300km and still trying to get used to the car. All round feel satisfied.

Steering light? Ever considered changing to bigger sports rims? The steering became heavier after I replaced mine, but it's still very light

if you are using keys to start engine, this lock will connect to a socket, and as long as this lock is not opened, even if the thief got your key, they can't turn the ignition to start the car, and mine is push start, need to stop on brake and press push start, and as long as this lock is not open, cannot step on brake at all, so very secure one thumbup.gif

btw, average FC for u guys is how much? I often find myself having near 450 or so for full tank, sometimes oumo 50+ can get ~330km like that, around 0.16-0.18/km if I didnt push the car, but still feel a bit makan minyak compared to some others sweat.gif
but overall ok la..

and anyone got do sound isolation before? right now my volume turn 20+ outside also can hear my song very clearly, and I'm not very happy with that hmm.gif

sound proof for Almera is suck...i'm driving Grand Livina (loan car from Tan Chong) before that more quiet...even if got lorry at side..after closed the window...no more sound from outside...i believe we need to put some sound isolation at the door, floor and firewall....

So far i keen to get this product..

nod.gif like our fb page to jnw ore about sp .

4 doors from rm 3xx , but normally ppl do double layer 730 for almera, superb in reducing exterior noise and heat

of course some prefer branded ones like silent coat might offer it soon laugh.gif

hello all, am looking for some quick inputs on a question regarding 2nd hand value, as I have very little knowledge in this area.

in terms of 2nd hand value, on the average, is the drop in value of Nissan cars, the same level / on par as the 2 other popular Japanese brands of Toyota & Honda? or do Nissan cars drop a bit more than them ?

very curious & eager to know, thanks in advance

nissan resale value drop faster than toyota or honda..but much better than continental cars or korean cars..

for me..2nd value for nissan is acceptable..nowdays we can see lots of nissan cars on the road which will give a positive point for resale value..

The power supply for the trunk light comes from the ECU. The E-spec ECU is difference from the V spec. That's why there is no power supply.

Yes. According to TC, you have to change the ECU. The cost is high and not worth it. So i got and click on LED light instead. Put 2 LED click ON cost less than RM20.

Just to share, my car did 21.5km/l just now returning from batu pahat. Filled up just before Yong peng toll and filled up again after exiting subang toll. Total km travelled 240km and used 11.16 liters. Both time refuel with petronas. Average speed around 100-110 only reaching 130 while overtaking... I think that is pretty good....

I didn't go above 3k rpm & always less than 110km/h. Mine's a manual version. & avoid going long distance. New engine so better avoid all these eventhough some said it won't affect but I won't wanna take the risk. Hahaha

*
Very good.. I just able to get 17.6km/l .. but that time maybe my engine not yet run in... just below hundred mileage already drive from ipoh to kl.. hees... :-D

Yes. 3k discount still on going. The best price in market is 4.5k. 3 k being the STD discount given by TCM and The additional discount is depending on the SA how much they want to offer.

If max discounts are given, no other goodies like smart tag, tinted will be given and vice versa. smile.gif

that's why you need to show your car to them and get the right 2nd hand price for your viva.
furthermore, the honda basic price is 13k extra compare to almera. so even honda offer you 3k extra for the 2nd hand car, you are still need to pay that extra 10k. i don't think the higher 2nd price from honda is worth to accept.

btw, yes, they helped me to settle all the documentation works without charge.

Did anybody bring your own engine oil during service? Do the SC allows it?? I had been using Castrol magnatec 10W40 (I think) from the SC and thiinking of switching back to Liqui Moly MOS2 10W40. Anyone that bring their own engine oil for service do enlighten me. Thanks... notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

THere were horrible scratches on my car.. (ToT) ...(damn kids/teenagers)... will it void my warranty if i do my repaint outside of Nissan? Because they might have to take some parts like door handles out for the repaint... (>_<)

How about getting a quote from a Nissan Body & Paint centre first çoz I found their charges for knocking and spraying as good (if not slightly cheaper tongue.gif) than the outside car paint workshops. Handiwork and service was excellent.

P.S. I am not working for Nissan or any Nissan workshop tongue.gif. Just personal experience.

I think is best get quotation from Nissan then get quotation from outside to compare.... the last time my door were hit by a myvi Nissan quoted 500 to knock an respray. It cost me 250 to do it outside.

Results after spray same. a year later. back door metalic paint become matt n chip off. outside shop say 300 is highest quality.

i took V specs.

3 k discount from TC for all specs.

1 k discount from sales agent.

basically u can get 3 k discount for all specs. The rest depend on the salesmen.

i did not add anything. since i took 1 k discount, so no more freebies from sales agent. maybe got full tank at best.

if u don request full money discount. they can add full bodykit for free to u. best offer i heard is free bodykit n 500 cash discount of cos plus 3 k discount.

i checked with the SA, the car purchase date is in their computerize system, even you lost your warranty card, you can still claim all the items within the period. but the SA advise me to keep a photocopy of your car geran, put into your warranty book for service center reference in case ..

p/s : further more nowadays, even you buy any electronic items, even you are advised to send the card out to the company, but if you didn't do that, you can still claim for warranty as long as the purchase receipt is attached.

Does that mean i could use Mineral oil instead of Fully syn?

Hi all,
I'm serviced my VL At 30000km...after 11month....now I serviced at dealer out sourced from TCES....I feel more happy to service there compare Kota damansara service center.....
1) optional to choose your engine lubricant
2) sevice within 30min
3) optional to avoid certain service like air con and break

Why I said so because I serviced my almera 20000k at Kota damansara cost me 600 ringgit...so I decide to try out source dealer from nissan..

Don't worry if u go the dealer service it won't void your warranty...but if u come across any big issue to claim warranty must go back to big workshop from nissan...

Now I change to 5W20 idemitsu lubricant...I feel more powerful n save fuel consumption...now city drive in kl easily 450-500 before this is 410-430...

Here is my feeling hope will helpfull to u all...all as a message to u all in Kota damansara service center I'm scored no 3 in top service car

no worries, since he is the one who kissed your bud, so probably he will be summoned and you can claim his insurance. there is no such thing where he didn't report then you can't claim from him. if this happened, why buy insurance?

he will be so regret that he will loss the NCD and rm300 summons... if your car is new within 5 years, you entitled to get the new genuine replacement parts, so better go to NIssan center for repair works.
but check with your agent first

It's fine. As long as you have their number plate and you report. If he did not report then it's their ass. Just call your insurance company after you make a report and they will instruct on what to do. Like another forumer said if both have to report then only can claim other party insurance then what for you buy insurance then? Everyone will just abuse it and not report so they don't have to lose NCD.

try lodge report first...give details to police...car number, car maker & colour...if u snap his roadtax even better...just provide picture also..even if its blur...

i had same case like u before...teengers hit me at back...i asked phone number but it was not his number...so i chased him until i stopped his car...he gave me correct number..i even ask his gf number..easy for me to trace...
since that kid has fooled me, i decided to make police report...police told me if other party did not report an accident within 24 hrs he will get saman...

rm50 is not worth it at all...u bumper cracked...not dent...so u need to change the whole bumper which will cost u rm200 i guess..plus need to paint another rm250...total cost about rm450... a lottttttt of difference there....

I checked on Kurnia website since that's the insurance that my SA took for my yet to be delivered car. Got an SMS from Kurnia saying that my car's roadtax can be renewed so that's how I know and according to what they write on their website :

No-Fault Own Damage claim is similar to an Own Damage claim with exception that your NCD will not be forfeited. Introduced by Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) effective June 2001 in order to expedite the claim process, this claim is applicable only when the accident is deemed not your fault. This is determined by the circumstances of the accident and through the police investigation report (ie Police compound/findings, sketch plan and key) to support the claim. The claim is made only with regards to damages to your vehicle excluding compensations such as loss of use.

Follow the procedure as outlined in "Own Damage Claim". In addition to the documents to be submitted with your claim form, please enclose the following documents :

Copies of :

Signed declaration letter (for No-fault accident)
Third party's police report
Police compound / findings
Police sketch plan and keys (if any)

My insurance agent in the middle to proceed for third party claim at that time…because it’s obviously not my fault…later I decided to cancel coz pity to his mother..her son has been lying about that accident said hit light pole…

Mine almost similar with yours but then im dealling with educated uncle, i got hit from behind a while waiting traffic light turn green and we decided make a police report.Uncle told me he will report later due to he rushing his works and will go along with his agent (not sure why but i dont care. At night time i went police station again and ask sergeant if uncle dont report within 24hrs what will happen. Sergeant said will issue summons and they cant renew roadtax. So no matter how that guy have to make a police reports but then it will be long process. just share what sergeant told me smile.gif

My advice do the car registration by urself if you want ur car fast...JPJ has launched new system called mySikap...and it will takes around 1-2 weeks if SA or Runner go JPJ..i dont believe at first until i asked JPJ officer about this...she even said better owner wait 4-5 hrs rather than waiting around 2 weeks..

hey! I will be getting my Almera today ! so excited ! rclxm9.gif I booked a number but SA told me due to the new ruling, it's hard to get the number... so instead of 2089, i got 2890.

I trade in my naza to SA..he said i might need to go to JPJ for the processing but he will try to process for me. asked for a photocopy of my IC and driving license for the processing but he said don't cross the documents. Is it safe to give SA the copy of my personal documents without crossing it ? blink.gif

jus checked nissan website. the promo fir almera is navi package worth of 8 k includes side led, trunk tray, visor n etc. does this worth of 8 k?

serena aso offering navi package includes slightly difference accecories but worth 3.5 k.

why could the price be so diiferent ? as the most expensive item might be the audio. other accescories cant be near 5 k for visor n stuff.

jus checked nissan website. the promo fir almera is navi package worth of 8 k includes side led, trunk tray, visor n etc. does this worth of 8 k?

serena aso offering navi package includes slightly difference accecories but worth 3.5 k.

why could the price be so diiferent ? as the most expensive item might be the audio. other accescories cant be near 5 k for visor n stuff.
*
I think it maybe typo. It shud be 3.5k only.

Just booked an Almera today after 10 years of consideration.

Got RM5k rebates + windows tint here.

Originally was Navi package or RM3000 rebates.

After talk talk and abit reluctant, the lady boss came downstair and offered me the best rates I can find in market so far lol.

I was in a huge dilemma picking between City and Almera with the constant annoyance from my fiancee.

They are located in Kulaijaya, Johor @ Car City, Indahpura.

They are authorised dealer. Public Motor Enterprise.

For the windows tint part, I believe it is the SA personal offer as it will be done outside. For the brand wise, I told her I will pick on my own instead of default one, which mean I will top up the cost of the upgrade. The default one I only know it's worth around RM500+ with 5 years warranty. Will get more details when loan is approved and car is ready.

If you think you want to get it in Johor, Ill give you the SA number in PM.

If the rebates reached below 70k, I wouldn't mind grabbing them la..

I only loan RM60k for the 1.5E(A) + body kit. Trade in 1999 Potong Saga 1.5A for RM5000. That one also they overtrade-in the price by RM1000 compared to second hand dealer outside.

i bought e spec, 2 setback :
1. no boot light..stingy TC, just to save a light bulb...it is very inconvenient when you try to take the spare Tyre in the dark.i just experienced it...
2. no temperature meter on the meter...just overheat warning light..

But since their giving rm4.5k discount...

do u think it`s a right choice for vl spec ?

due to budget constraint, and car always depreciate, i have no intent to invest extra 10k for the rim, nicer dashboard, keyless...

but it depend, i would find vl spec is worthy if compare to honda & toyota for the same spec & grade..

Bro, can you tell me what OBD port is Almeowra using?

The OBD display will have wiring making it ugly right since it came from downside of steering there?

How many port was there?

Was planning to insert in a speed lock as well.

The loctech function should be:
1)Prevents the gear shifter from being moved from P (brake pedal shift lock system) by prevent the brake pedal to be fully depressed with using this locktech device.
2) Ignition cut off with Y socket. smile.gif

Dear Almerian, my VL already clocked 9,000 km. Should be due for 3rd service on next month. So far after 5months, i would like to make some comments and appreciate if everyone can give feedback or advise. Thanks.

1. Exterior- good noise proof. Acceptable design(mine without bodykit). Looks like mini luxury.
My brilliant white paint doesnt looks durable.
Wondering anyone install any BK apart from Impul? DRL? Pls include price.

2. Interior- acceptable design & quality. Spacious rear legroom. Good headroom.
Uncomfortable seat. Its no providing enough support and comfort. Gear knob looks cheapo. Awkward steering positioning. Handrest at door too low and narrow. Not practical. Switches at door too far from reach. Need to buy armrest. No seatpocket at rear. Compartment above glovebox not practical. The two bar holding windscreen is too width and bulky thus blocking view during cornering.

Appreciate feedback on this. Since we will be inside most of the time.

3. Handling- smooth drive. Decent gear switching. My top speed is 180km/h.
Miserable cornering at above 50km/h. Car will is very floaty and swirl alot at above 100km/h. Steering lack response at speed above 140km/h. Tyre feels uneven and unbalance at speed above 80km/h. Car will sidestep during high speed braking.

Any solution? Change tyre? Change rim? Install anti roll bar? Im really stuck at this part. The most important issue that i wanna solve. Kindly give recomendation and price.

4. Bonnet- looks spacious. Looks width.
In actual its depth. Due to rear seat cant fold.

5. Engine- lightweight engine. Wet based battery. Everything is just fine at the engine compartment.
I was wondering whats the engine oil used on 10k service? Can we choose or bring our own oil?

Almerian, come and spill out whatever your thought is. I hope that we can all improve our Almer into flawless drive.

1. My FC is not that good. Not as what i expected. Im getting 8.9 L/100km - 11 L/100km. Full tank ranging from 250km-400km.

2. My A/C blew out bad smell everytime its started. Especially in morning and afternoon. Doesnt make sense lol. Some issue with rear bearing also.

Kindly enlighten.

Can't agree more on this bro, all I can say is my driving style has been changed drastically after I started driving an Almera, from Fast & Furious to Slow & Steady  sweat.gif

Any solution? Change tyre? Change rim? Install anti roll bar? Im really stuck at this part. The most important issue that i wanna solve. Kindly give recomendation and price.
I reckon by changing to a wider and better tire would improve braking, while lowered spring+ARB+camber adjustment would improve handling

4. Bonnet- looks spacious. Looks width.
In actual its depth. Due to rear seat cant fold.

5. Engine- lightweight engine. Wet based battery. Everything is just fine at the engine compartment.

They'll pour in Castrol semi synthetic, which then will change your service intervals from every 5000km to 10000km.

Almerian, come and spill out whatever your thought is. I hope that we can all improve our Almer into flawless drive.

My 2 cents.

the car change gear very fast, from 0-30 kmh car has enough power but after gear change after 35 kmh, car felt struggle. From 40-70 kmh is slowest , rpm below 2 k. im light foot of cos. so far fastest speed is 90kmh.

i am not sure the our noise problem is same or not. But i complaint to the SC during my first service 2 weeks ago, then they told me there might be something loosening near the door, but then after that service, this noise is disappeared. i believe this is the standard noise for new car, as i told them, they managed to fix it at 1 time.

Drove my almera about 2 weeks now and today notice the aircond not normal as usual…before this set aircond at 2 bar (aircond blow quite strong) with 23C-24C feel cold already...this morning i set 3-4 bar but the aircond blow slow and not cold..i even set the temp to 21C-22C…whats wrong???

This Friday will go for 1st service and the problem that I have listed for SC to rectify as below:

1. Rattling sound when start engine and during driving.
2. Aircond sound loud when AC turn on.
3. Rear spoiler not properly installed.
4. Glovebox not properly fit to close.
5. Alignment & Balancing.
6. Rear wheel bearing.

Hopefully this is just temporary. This is the first time I use Nissan and really hope they don’t make it in my Blacklist.

Can I just sign my agreement when I see my car? Or I have to sign earlier? I don't want kena aeroplane, SA told me my car is on its way and will reach by end of this week, but I haven't sign agreement yet.
*
I think you have to sign first else what's to stop you from saying you don't want the car anymore after seeing it?

as this morning was cold. i set my air con temp to right where red indicator and its blowing hot air. it is normal ? im sure that is hot air.

mine is manual air cond leveler.

when set temp at mid at the leveler, very obvious hot air blow at leg room (set to blow toward face n leg ).
*
yes
when you turn to right (RED), it will blow hot air. haha its weird for me also as normal car dont have this red indicator.
so just use the left (blue) side everything will work just fine

Been driving my almera for almost 2 weeks and i'm going for the 1st service tmr.

FC is not really great though..average 450km/full tank (Rm 75/full tank)

And I found that this car is extremely bad at pick up ... Even a Myvi is far better.

Other than that, all seems perfect. Any comment?

the compressor kick in sound. nothing they can do about this.
u can reduce to knock sound once u warm up your car enough. this is wht i normally do

For some reason, my SA told me VL spec are x so fc savvy. Don't know why though.

I read in the thread that fc will be better after the 1k service? What the logic behind this guys? hmm.gif

not really 1 k. cos engine is new , more friction in engine thus need more fuel produce power. as time goes by with new engine oil, mechanical parts work better with less friction. less fuel to burn is needed. 1 k jus a benchmark.

i own 3 new car before. some after 1 k better while some after 5 k. but gradually will be better. if after 10 k still not better then its not engine problem. like my saga fl from day one till now still bad.

less active in this topic because less problem on this car so no much complain or hot topic to discuss.

Done my 1st service today...SC used mineral oil and advised to use it until 10000km..then used semi synthetic...in addition..they also pour engine treatment...just to help reduce friction and yes..driving is more njoyable...

Highlighted issues has been solved as below:

1. Rattling sound when start engine and during driving. - cause by exhaust that too near to bumper/bodykit. Fixed exhaust...no longer hear irritating sound...
2. Aircond sound loud when AC turn on. - SC said its normal for Almera...hmmm...
3. Rear spoiler not properly installed. - Put more glue..now looking good..if not, the spoiler already gone if i hit 100km/h again...
4. Glovebox not properly fit to close. - same...SC said its normal for Almera...haihhh
5. Alignment & Balancing. - slightly to the left....fixed FOC for the 1st 5000km...
6. Rear wheel bearing. - just repair...if problem persist then they will replace...

additional job i request from them...to remove rear seat plastic cover....

arrived 7.30 am and finished at 11.00am...demmm...luckily i took leave for 1 day...

oh yes...the complimentary car wash sucks...my car was not clean in and out...

About 2 weeks as well including of waiting for loan, my loan got complicated a bit as I got 2 house commitment with my current salary.

So it took about a week for loan. 3 days for car to reach the showroom from KL. Which is about today.

SA already secured my car plate no as well. Picked a 1337 plate number for RM250.

Seat not the most comfortable for sure.
And what is ur speed when long distance drive.
I can get 500km easily with speed average 120kmh

Did u test drive this car before u buy

Seems like u got issue with under power n in comfortable seat.
Test drive time u should aware d right.

Hello all sifus, anyone know how to check the gearbox fluid level? I cant seem to find the dip stick. I think I found the dip stick at the bottom right of the engine, stucked to the gearbox, but I cant pull it out.

A check to the booklet says that we need to bring the car to service centre to check if we need to change the tranmission fluid.

Thanks!

i never knw that gear oil got dip stick that we can check manually

so far if ur gearbox not leaking, the oil level will remain the same. this is base on my experience. i maybe wrong theoretically
