I still think GKX are the better overclockers compared to GMH.

but, AFAIK, most of the high perfomance ram using D9GMH hmm.gif

That's because Micron D9GKX has been stopped from production.
Those rams that uses GKX are only leftovers.

There is high performance rams that uses GKX, but not much can be found.
You can find it on some valuerams, but do note that valuerams doesn't work the way High performance rams work.

As most valuerams rams uses 4 layers of PCB which can't stand high voltages.
Whilst high performance rams uses 6 layers of PCB that is either Brainpower PCB or Levin PCB.

There is also Brainpower PCB that is on 8 layers, but is in a very rare occasion.

These 6 & 8 layers of PCB tends to use lower voltage & produces less heat than those 4 layers of PCB that is on valuerams.

Your high performance rams have an ability to withstand high voltages, thus, the lifetime of the rams stands more longer than those rams that uses 4 layers of PCB.

dat mean different manufacture with diff pcb is perform different perfomance..?
since it used the same chip as well.. hmm.gif

@Shawty

How you know the layer thingy? How about Corsair XMS2?? How many layers the rams use?

From reviews, or if you own the RAM, you can count it by ownself too.

Because there is a website that can tell the chipset that some rams uses and what type of PCB it uses.
But this website doesn't concentrate on Corsair ram so much, because corsair ram has too many revisions.
So, it doesn't say what type of PCB does an XMS uses.

Count? You can't count the PCB, unless you have the eye of a microscope. sweat.gif
The easiest way to know either it's using brainpower PCB or not is easy, there should be some sort of serial number that can explain either its a brainpower 6 layers, or brainpower 8 layers.

Right now, from what i see, only Team Valueram & Twinmos Valuerams uses Brainpower 6 layers PCB. Those are the only two valuerams that uses Brainpower PCB 6 layers.

All other valuerams uses nothing but crap @ chapalang 4 PCB layers. laugh.gif

sup3rfly, those two list are very unorganized and very hard to read.
Plus, for the Corsair area, it doesn't state all revision of XMS rams. sweat.gif

yep, from what im seeing, D9GKX is 25-E type, similar to the D9GQG. 25-E type have good timing and speed, so i think it's better to get those compared to D9GMH, am i rite?

Wrong.
Only some D9G are good.
Not all micron chips that has the D9G sequence is good liao.

The top three Micron D9G are:
1st Place = Micron D9GKX [Rare]
2nd Place = Micron D9GMH
3rd Place = Micron D9GCT [Very Rare]

D9GQG is not a good overclocker liao. laugh.gif

oh, ok. thanx for the info.

i've done some checking, and found out that D9GKX chipset is used on 1066MHz ddr2 rams. so for those ppl who's opting for 800MHz or less, D9GMH would be ideal. rite?

Not really.
Some high performance rams is also using Micron D9GMH.

IMO, Micron D9GKX & Micron D9GMH performances doesn't vary by far.
I'll wait for uncle almostthere to explain about this. wink.gif

the only different between Micron D9GKX & Micron D9GMH i know is that they are binned at different speed and timing. D9GKX binned at DDR2 800 while D9GMH are binned at DDR2 533.

correct me if i'm wrong icon_rolleyes.gif

Useful links. I suggest putting these on the first page for easy references.

If not, difficult to find later when the pages are added..... thumbup.gif
