Sharing this useful DIY for shrimp tanks:-

I have made my shrimp tank temp low at 24-25C with small fan and wrap around with the aluminium kinda insulator paper (sold at daiso)! So taking care of shrimp not necessary expensive.

Hi guys /Bro arrow hopefully u could see this and hope to get your reply asap. In short is it possible to keep crs in a 20*20*20tank? In total got 28 rcs.. I don't hope to populate them up much. Just wanna maintain my colony or grow up to fourth to fifty of them is it possible? Hope to hear from anyone who had gone through 20*20*20 with success. I'm in China and relying on vpn to make a fast post here. I have a 30*30 tank at first I kept shrimps with neon tetra but now the tetra getting more aggressive. Pls help Bro arrow/forumers

sorry for belated reply, 20*20*20tank in cm or inch ? in cm will be an 8L tank , and you mean CRS(crystal red shrimp) or RCS(Red cherry shrimp)
both their requirement is quite different, CRS require precise parameter while RCS is quite hardy as long basic tank cycle is done properly.

Its possible to keep CRS in smaller tank , provided the temperature is maintain low at 23-25'c and other requirement like PH 6-6.4 , tds 80-150,
gh 4-6 , kh 0-2.

Maybe if possible post a picture of your tank
and list down the parameters.

Btw, how are your shrimps doing?

The links are for DIY stuff...and they are working.

Basically get the kinda aluminium kinda heat pad at daiso (not sure u hv that in taiwan), use double sided tape n it stick to the aquarium. Only front i dont paste it.

may I ask why my shrimps are committing suicide ?

I have an ADA open tank but most of the shrimps I bought like jumping out from the tank when im sleeping or either when im at work just to wake up the next morning or come back home from work knowing that their on the floor dead sad.gif

the only fishes in my tank are cardinal tetras and I do not believe that it has anything to do with the fish.

or could it be that my Co2 is high because im also having a planted tank ? but if that is the case, how come there are no cardinal tetras committing suicide ?

please help and advice.

thank you.

I think its not your water issue..its the fish chasing the shrimps.. shrimp is tasty food for fish. Your fish didnt jump out cause shrimp doesnt chase fish... simple

Really ? Cardinal tetras are that kind of fishes ? I feed fish food to my fishes everyday and they still hungry to eat shrimps ?

What about others of you here ? Does you shrimps like jumping out from the aquarium ?

It so dissapoting when they die because they are nice to be kept in aquariums and are costly as well depending what type of shrimps species and grading sad.gif

Tetra fish are consider semi aggressive kind of fish, the bigger the fish , more bully they are.
Peaceful fish are mostly boraras/rasbora type which suit planted tank as well.
They jump either bully by fish , lack of oxygen(at night co2 more oxygen depleted, plant absorb oxygen too when light off)
, you can set timer to off co2 when light off and on your air-stone at night.
if tank parameter not suit shrimp or tank not fully cycled , shrimps may jump out too.

Sorry for the late reply too, China blocked lyn lol. I'm now in msia btw. Erm I'm referring to crystal red shrimps and haha its a total failure with 20 cube, died more than 1/4 immediately switched to 30 cube 0 dead instantly without even needing to cycle.

Just curious why lyn formers here so anxious about the temperature? I'm keeping grade ss crystal red shrimps and my tank temperature for now 32 degree Celsius...as u know now summer in China..

Or probably u guys should get ur prawns from China haha. Damn cheap, red wine panda grade probably 67 rmb-100rmb=60rm. Lol and can tahan 'tap water seriously', temperature can tahan 28 degree of no problems. If normal s grade crystal red shrimps also rmb5 also can get the already...

Hie guys, one of my red cherry is pregnant and I have isolated it to a separate mini tank with plants, substrate and a small stone.
Is a water filter or air pump required? I don't have any filter running in that mini tank now. Pls help.
