MAF Digipat Uniform Making Its International Debut

MAF personnel deployed to Townsville, Australia for the Five Power Defence Arrangement (FPDA) exercise
called the Suman Warrior 2013 were issued with the new digital pattern uniform which had made its public
appearance last September 21, during the 80th MAF Anniversary Grand Parade and Expo in Kuala Lumpur.

Ex Suman Warrior 2013 was held at the Australian Army’s Lavarack Barracks in Townsville from October 13
till October 25 with participation of all FPDA members namely Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
In total 185 participants took part in this year’s edition of the exercise.

The scenario is based on a military response to a cyclone that has caused destruction to the Australian mainland
and is representative of a natural disaster in the region. Military officers from each FPDA nation have to plan support
to a relief operation as part of a Combined Joint Interagency Task Force.

Exercise Suman Warrior is a brigade level, multi-national military exercise aims to enhance interoperability among
the FPDA armies and also provides an opportunity for the participants to exchange professional expertise.

According to Janes update dated 22 September 2013, RSN only uses the Aster 15 on the Formidable class but its SYLVER vertical launcher modules is not the A35 variant which can only support the Aster15 but a differnt version which can support both.Also the French Sipri list states that Singapore purchased 300 Aster 15 for the Formidable class .
