No, based on the user reviews on the net, the main problem is the bass starting to have distortion like in your case, no way to improve, this is not the source problem, since ur source volume was fixed in ur case.

Distortion mainly due to 1) the driver itself can't cope with high power from the amp 2) the amplifier saturate at high volume.

sad case..

more irritating is the control.. dammit.. the turn turn thingy is just so lousy.. cannot last long.. mine spoil after one month or so.. until now i also lazy to send to ban leong to claim warranty..

actually the performance improve significantly if i listen to CDs instead of MP3s..

time for bose companion... laugh.gif

But i think 5/7 volume is too high already, plus if you boost ur bass setting, then distortion is unavoidable. I think at mid to low volume is still a decent speaker.

If such case, next time when find speaker, find the large diameter sub speaker, Altec speaker sub is too small adi, even premium max at 6.5" (actual size <<6.5"), when the box itself is quite huge, is a shame they just put in small driver on that, i really doubt it can cope with high power, driver always the bottleneck in PC speaker.

nowadays altec cut cost give u china or taiwan rubbish inside cause they wanna compete with other cheap brands like edifire and sonic gera
so to solved that problem, simply just replace the subwoofer output capacitor, the samxon or capson to some better quality ones, if i'm not wrong the sub cap has the value 16v 220uf for those that run tda73XX. i think can use same trick for the yours
very big diff!!

If can solved by just changing cap, then everyone here can become engineer adi...

For distortion problem, even u change to 100Billion Farad cap also useless.

correct me if i am wrong =)

the stuff inside is almost the same as atp5 and can use parts from 4100 or mx5021
no shop in selangor area has parts for it unless he order online which is more aspensif... ban leong also not helpful
you can scrap for parts in those models above because usually its the amp, input or psu fry!!!

but if its tda73XX chip inside you van get parts from old car radio =)

hi all, just bought VS4621 yesterday biggrin.gif
previous speaker was also altec lansing 4.1, old styles don't know what the name
now prefer 2.1 speaker compare with 4.1 because of messy cable

is sound card needed for this VS4621, after I plugged seem the sound wasn't good as testing in the shop. hmm.gif
