its not bad a speaker.
compared to the MX5021, its the exact opposite. it has a rather laid back sound, and warm midrange. basically, you might want to turn the bass knob all the way down if you're going to be listening to this speaker from near field, because the punch and mid bass will sound really overpowering. however, if listening from far, leaving the bass knob in middle (default) position will let you experience the 'sub-like' sound effects better.
this speaker cannot replace a complete sub-sat system, but heard from the correct position, distance and correct volume, you might actually get to hear some rather bassy action, akin to that of a small but tight sub

One word=HUGE, VS2421 is around Rm100++ only I think, whereas the MX5021 is like Rm550 xD SQ wise of coz the MX5021 beats the VS2421 no doubt, the bass of MX5021 is way way way stronger than the VS2421, no need to compare actually, the MX5021 excels in all field

Yeah, it is a good speaker indeed. I wouldn't be bet on the oomph of the bass, but definitely the clarity is something and just within my needs

I also thinking to bring it to local electronic repairing shop, but wondering if they would service a multimedia speaker. Damn, I'm praying not the transformer got burned instead

Honestly no offense, but i adi know the sound is 'fail' once i saw only...down firing midrange is wrong design, but they seems very proud of it, 'mid-range drivers that blast sound waves onto a hard surface, where they are reflected and evenly distributed throughout your room', how hard the surface needed? as hard as their COCK...

FYI, the hissing sound is caused by the amplifier gain and impedance matching problem due to design fault. So add any 'filter' or AVR before power supply line is useless.
