The Exynos octacore is actually 2 quadcore processors : four high-performance ARM Cortex-A15 cores running at 1.60GHz, four low-power ARM Cortex-A7 cores with 1.20 GHz clock-speed as well as PowerVR SGX 544 graphics adapter. However, the Exynos 5410, though having eight cores but the phone will use only four at a time.
The technology used is called big.LITTLE and Samsung has taken a licence for it from ARM. In actual use, Galaxy S IV will use A7 cores while handling light work. For example, if you are making a call, the phone is likely to be powered by A7 cores. But if you are playing a demanding 3D game, it will switch off A7 cores and use A15 cores. At no point of time, the phone will use all eight cores simultaneously.
Samsung claims that this technology provides users best balance of performance as well as battery life. An important detail to note is that A15 cores are very powerful and even if only four of them are used in Exynos 5410, it is enough to make the device one of the most powerful smartphones in the market.
I am only looking forward to the Snapdragon model mainly due to LTE being enabled on it

Iphones seem to be more efficient processor wise when surfing. Thats why if iphone and like a flagship samsung device go head to head battery test both pure surfing, they actually last similarly. Because iphone dont eat that much juice while samsung eats a lot. But if a mix of uses then iphone would lose. Also I do get iphone heating up when I play extensive gaming. Surfing yea not so much. Its processor.
I dont think its much to worry about.
I recommend 1. Underclocking (I dont) 2. Undervolting (I do) 3. Both (youll see epic battery savings too)

Battery Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) First of all, it should be noted that most myths about mobile phone battery care originated from the days where nickel-cadmium (NiCad) based batteries were common years ago but the overwhelming majority of smartphone batteries used nowadays are lithium ion based smart batteries which doesn’t require these treatments. I’ve seen these questions asked again and again multiple times over multiple threads and I’ve decided to compile some information all over the internet to answer these questions.
Q: I heard that you need to do an initial charge of 8 hours before first use of the battery, is this true? A: There is no need to charge a Lithium ion battery to 100% or charge for long hours (priming), this doesn't work for li-ion chemistry, before using your device. It will not affect battery life in anyway. In fact, you can start using most modern smartphone batteries immediately right out of the box and it won’t cause any problems to the long term life of your battery.
Q: I heard that it’s good for the battery if you often charge it to 100% and use it until it’s almost out of power before recharging again to combat battery memory effects. In other words, I heard it’s good to do full discharges of the battery before recharging. Is this true? A: Batteries have a finite limited number of charge cycles and similar to a mechanical device that wears out faster with heavy use, so also does the depth of discharge (DoD) determine the cycle count. The shorter the discharge (low DoD), the longer the battery will last. If at all possible, avoid full discharges and charge the battery more often between uses. Partial discharge on Li-ion is fine; there is no memory and the battery does not need periodic full discharge cycles to prolong life, other than to calibrate the fuel gauge on a smart battery once in a while between a few months. In other words, do not discharge lithium-ion too deeply. Instead, charge it frequently. Lithium-ion does not have memory problems like nickel-cadmium batteries. No deep discharges are needed for conditioning. Running a Lithium battery low all the time actually does harm it more than topping it off whenever possible. Using only 20% or 30% of the battery capacity before recharging will extend cycle life considerably. As a general rule, 5 to 10 shallow discharge cycles are equal to one full discharge cycle
Q: Somebody told me to not leave the phone connected to a charger for a long time to avoid overcharging and damaging the battery. Would that be correct? A: In most cases of modern lithium ion batteries, this is not a problem as these smart batteries are designed to cut the current when they reach a certain charge level and will use a bit of their own power before they start charging again and since lithium ion batteries have no memory effects, this is not a problem. There is no danger of the battery being overcharged. People seem to misunderstand about this point because a lack of knowledge and also advices with other batteries for example with laptops where people are usually advised to take the lithium batteries out if it’s not going to be used for a long time. People don’t realise in that case that the risk is actually the heat coming from operation of the computer instead of overcharging.
Q: How should I store my battery if I’m not going to be using it for a while? eg. storing phone away or spare battery. A: The worst way to store a battery is to store it fully charged in places with high temperatures. The best common way to store your smartphone battery is to store it away with power levels of between 40%-60% and in places where it’s likely to stay at a comfortable temperature.

I will be targeting for Note 4 by then so apa S5 also ok. My wife now waiting for my S4 liao coz S2 although still "new" to her newbie learning, its getting a bit too small on the screen size.
Still very satisfied with S4, a bit small when looking at news pages but overall sharp. Combined with satisfyingly super smooth glass.t nano screen and my Slim Armor View case, it somehow still wow me when I look at it and use it.
Anyway, yesterday night, when taking photo with auto night mode on (activated), the processing time on every take is abt 2-3 second (can see the word "processing" with progress bar). Have to wait for completion of the progress before snapping another photo.
Today testing again on morning (now), it seems almost instantaneous (no processing word, just snap and can snap another one almost straightaway.
Does night mode slow down processing time after every photo click? Also since update to the latest OTA update (when it was release...somewhere last week or so kuah), camera sometime will stop running. Have to reboot system.

1. go to /system/etc 2. open up default_gain.conf 3. notice the term "output volume" or "speaker volume", if applied the patch will be 63, so this is the value you are gonna change 4. how do you find what you wanna edit? well, see the term "modifier"? thats like the which part of the audio output to configure for your device, then there is this "SupportedDevice }" line, below it will determine what output hardware it will be going to use to sing, in there, find the line {"Speaker Volume", 63} and adjust values 5. You can also boost/reduce ringtone loudness by going to the modifier "Ringtone" and change the "speaker volume" 6.save it and reboot

9.Apps that can safety to FREEZE at your S4 A:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Please use some caution when deleting apps, just because they are 'safe' to remove doesn't mean you won't need them. For example: DO NOT delete GoogleContactsSycAdapter.apk if you need to sync your Google contacts. I have deleted everything on this list from my system apps as they are things I don't use.
I actually NEVER REMOVE system apps completely. I MOVE them to a folder on my external SD. That way if I ever want anything back I can simply copy it back again. I would suggest you do the same.

5. About AOSP, [Android Open Source Project], differences and Touchwiz UI by Samsung and etc
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Very very briefly, you have 2 classes of ROMs for Android devices in general. One is based on stock ROMs for the device (TouchWiz in the case of Samsung), the other is based on Google's AOSP (Android Open Source Project).
TW (short for TouchWiz) based custom ROMs usually retain and ENHANCE the available stock apps, and give you some extra features like being able to control CPU speed, screen color values, switch DPI etc. They are also known as "cooked" ROMs, and the authors are called "chefs".
You usually get all the Samsung stuff available, unless it's a "slimmed" ROM where the chef has cut out what they feel is unnecessary.
AOSP ROMs, since they are from the freely available Google sources, can be recompiled by developers and features added, optimized or subtracted depending on the philosophy of the dev team. These are "compiled" ROMs and the developers are called developers, not chefs.
AOSP ROMS do not contain the Samsung specific features of TouchWiz like S-View or whatever "S-something" app bundled by Samsung, but since this is Android, there are either replacements or close equivalents of the same apps on the Play Store.
Note that even if you use AOSP, you DO NOT lose the S-pen function, only the S-applications that use it. Any other drawing app can still use the S-Pen.
It's all a personal preference and getting used to a specific ROM type's features. See post 9, the sifus there all use a wide variety of ROMs, and the "flashoholics" change ROMs as often as they, um, make their beds I suppose.
Choice is the key word of Android.
One thing to note, is the S-Note app. It is a fantastic piece of software from Samsung, but unfortunately it only works on the Note family. This is a form of lock in. To avoid this, I recommend HandyNote Pro or others here may recommend other S-pen note taking apps.

Bad news everyone! I've been hearing more from people in places associated with Samsung, and it is becoming more likely that this KNOX status is indeed an eFuse. I might talk to some Samsung guys myself this weekend, if there's anything interesting about that, I'll let you know.
Worse than that, I've also been hearing that service center instructions are indeed that devices with this status tripped will not receive any warranty repairs. (Of course, the action they take may still depend on the service center). Their excuse is that the hardware is damaged by the owner. Seems Samsung is catching up in scumbaggery to HTC, who years ago attributed my HTC Diamond's screen damage (digitizer detached) to the installation of HSPL
To anyone in the know it is obvious that this doesn't really fly, and the eFuse blowing (is this the hardware damage?) is intentionally done by the bootloader when unsigned software is loaded. One could even argue against the legality of that under EU regulations.
Anyway, of course there's that EU regulation (1999/44/CE) that is generally interpreted so that rooting/flashing may not break hardware warranty. As I've said again and again, this may be true, and you may be legally entitled to free repairs but this doesn't necessarily mean they'll actually repair your device.
Warranty needs to be provided by the seller, not by the manufacturer. The shop will usually depend on the manufacturer's warranty, though that's really none of your business or concern - your deal is with the seller. The shop will send you (or your device) to a service center, which may not be OEM operated or owned (but licensed instead) and are furthermore under no obligation whatsoever to repair your device if they don't want to. And if their instructions say to not repair in case X, then they will not, as the OEM will not reimburse them for the parts.
The shop will just tell you that the OEM says your breakage isn't covered by the warranty, and that will be that. You will have to slap said shop around a bit with EU regulations, and possibly take them to court before they will repair/replace your device. Even if you take them to court, and if you win (I've not seen or heard from such a case winning yet), you'd just be hurting the shop, it has no effect on the OEM, and you've probably spent a lot more time and money than you would've just buying a new device.
Only the OEM wins in this scenario, which is pretty sad, really.
Of course, I am not a lawyer, so take all this with a grain of salt From Chainfire's G+

Weehoo !! Just received my Slickwraps orange carbon fiber for my SGS4 !!!!
So without a further ado, lets get started with the little review
first of all, quality, its fking nice except you really have to be precise and accurate when you're applying it. once you're getting out of patience, say goodbye to your sticker lol
nah, just kidding, Slickwraps is genius, if you fked your sticker, you can always apply small amount of heat on the sticker to make it turn back to its original state, applause for them
from this angle, you could really see my mistake (blame me, i was a lil bit excited back then )
luckily i could apply the front sticker correctly
another side angle view
here are the items that will be given when you ordered one :- 1) full body wrap 2) Clear HD screen protector 3) microfiber cleaning cloth 4) a pair of cards/instruction to remove bubbles 5) a code for your next purchase ( discounts will be given if you submit the codes
in conclusion, its really worth the money since i bought it during school holiday sale which cost me rm50 only. it will protect my phone nicely since i usually put my phone in my bag, and since im a student, i rarely go outwith its thin and light profile, it will not make your phone looks bulkier but makes your phone looks just nice and beautiful
A WARNING THOUGH, I WILL NOT RECOMMEND TO YOU GUYS WHO ARE A LITTLE BIT CLUMSY WITH THEIR PHONES LIKE ACCIDENTALLY SLIPPED THEIR PHONE AWAY FROM THEIR HANDS, BECAUSE ITS A WRAP, NOT A CASE. IT WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR PHONE AS GOOD AS A CASE. SO, I RECOMMEND YOU GUYS TO GET A CLEAR CASE OR A POUCH TO PROTECT YOUR PHONE. AGAIN, ITS A WRAP/STICKER, NOT A CASE. P/S :- TLDR ?, build quality is nice, Slickwraps said it can last for years if you handle it with care, good for people who like to go out with his or her phone naked
* i dont apply side wraps cuz i really like the plastic painted bumper ** time taken to apply may vary, it depends on your patience and skills

So, as we had the Octa-Core (GT-I9500) variant of the Galaxy S4, we decided to do some benchmarks. We are just BLOWN away from the results we got. The Galaxy S4 crushed every other device, even the HTC One and the Sony XPERIA Z. We used Antutu and Quadrant as our benchmark tools. The device received a score of 27417 on Antutu and 12726 on Quadrant.
Our full review of the Galaxy S4 will come at the end of April, so stay tuned for that!

In Android 4.3, Android begins supporting Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux), a tool for applying access control policies. SELinux enhances Android security, and contributions to it have been made by a number of companies and organizations; all Android code and contributors are publicly available for review on this same site source.android.com. With SELinux, Android can better control access to application data and system logs, reduce the effects of malicious software, and protect users from potential flaws in mobile code.
In this release, Android includes SELinux in permissive mode and a corresponding security policy that works by default across the Android Open Source Project. In permissive mode, no actions are prevented. Instead, all potential violations are logged by the kernel to dmesg. This allows Android and Android device manufacturers to gather information about errors so they may refine their software and SELinux policies before enforcing them.
Background Used properly, SELinux greatly limits the potential damage of compromised machines and accounts. When you adopt SELinux, you instill a structure by which software runs at only the minimum privilege level. This mitigates the effects of attacks and reduces the likelihood of errant processes overwriting or even transmitting data.
SELinux provides a mandatory access control (MAC) umbrella over traditional discretionary access control (DAC) environments. For instance, software must typically run as the root user account to write to raw block devices. In a traditional DAC-based Linux environment, if the root user becomes compromised that user can write to every raw block device. However, SELinux can be used to label these devices so the user role assigned the root privilege can write to only those specified in the associated policy. In this way, root cannot overwrite data and system settings outside of the specific raw block device.
See the Use Cases section for more examples of threats and ways to address them with SELinux.

The project’s official description reads “SELinux is a security enhancement to Linux which allows users and administrators more control over access control.”
SELinux is a set of Open sourced and peer reviewed changes to the core Android Software stack to help prevent apps from performing malicious activities. This is done by establishing a set of policies that act as mandatory access controls (MAC). Depending on the policy, it can do things such as prevent apps from running or accessing specific data, to preventing root access altogether.
SELinux has wide-scale adoption throughout the linux landscape, with Fedora, Red Hat and others incorporating policies to better the system security. The default policies are usually written per distribution, by their maintainers – we have begun this process for CyanogenMod.
We will be working on this policy creation in parallel to Google’s own policies for Android, which we believe will be released with the Android 4.3 source; effectively getting us ahead of the eventual 4.3 source release. As this process is open source, policy creation and suggestions will be handled via our gerrit instance....

SELINUX can take one of these three values: >enforcing - SELinux security policy is enforced. >permissive - SELinux prints warnings instead of enforcing. >disabled - No SELinux policy is loaded.
FAQS? 1.Q:If my SELINUX status is on Enforcing or Permissive, is still have the chance to root and flash it? A:In other word..it doesn't matter your phone on permissive or enforcing status.
All I know while in permissive status..I can still mix and match the roms..kernel and modem. Maybe..just maybe when it's on enforcing mode you can't even change that after you flash custom roms or kernel. hmm.gif
And no...usb jig or TriangleAway won't effect that warranty flag.<-from waveweaver

SIRIM is Malaysia certification of wireless products. You will never ever see such a Sirim sticker on imported products unless the importer stick onto it. Custom will normally not open unless is suspicious. If the delivery docs declared as phone high chance it will be holdup at custom. Than you need to apply Sirim permit at nearest Sirim center. You need pay only RM100 for it n with it you can bring in up to 3 phones same model You need to fill up 3 forms at Sirim n provide following: - courier or arrival notice - purchase detail ( email will do) of phone - printout from web specs of phone
You can normally get the permit within an hour Than show this permit to custom to clear out phone There is no other duty/taxes on mobile phones import into Malaysia

Does changing the font type from default to other font effect the battery in any way? Just wanna check in case there are drawbacks if you change the default settings.
yeah ^^... new official thread already.. cant wait new version 4.3 ... seem camera shutting fast then 4.2... new i heard is end of september or release galaxy note 3 .. correct if me wrong hehe

I changed mine, no drawbacks or whatsoever noticed.
Just wanna ask, currently which rom is the most stable? prefer theme to be like stock. (eg android revolution HD for HTC)
Regards any custom roms...you need to try it for yourself. Not everybody get the same exact result. Even your apps play some part on making any custom rom go smooth and stable. OR making it unstable.
Guys, I bought a sandisk microsd 32GB class 10 from sri computer in lowyat the other day. Tested the speed using sd card tester app and it only shows 7-11 mbps instead of the 30 that's written on the pack. I also realize the adapter is black with words printed on it instead of a piece of sticker. The distributor is the authorized distributor, vector digital. Was wondering if it's the real thing?

Vector Digital and MGM are our local authorised distributors. Your sdcard read or write 7-11Mbps.?

Their service was ok lar. Just scared the card is not genuine But the authorized distributor sticker is there, so dunno how. Any other way to test the speed? I thought the phone throttle down the speed
my i9505 is running hot, compare with friend i9500 only a bit warm even though hrs of using.
SOT i think both almost the same if we on9 and surfing and playing games due to same mAh battery but doesnt really feel like s600 is better, maybe a bit only

Edifier ? so far so good man, saw some reviews that said their Edifier last for 1 ~2 years
Sandisk always change their packaging. Maybe to refresh the product image...lolz If you feel you have been cheated..bring the sdcard to Vector Digital and ask them a new one. Better still...do a sdcard test in front of them.
I9500 not sure they wanna replace or not, later ask me to go warranty some more. Haiz
Try factory reset and see if the problem solved. if still restart/reboot...go back to the place you buy the phone and ask for a replacement there...not at service centre. Service centre just doing service and repair jobs.

I have no problem with Sandisk 64Gb and I have two of those sdcard. Got only one time...one of the sdcards corrupted but that was due to my own mistake when I try to transfer a very large files at one go instead of transfer it in smaller batches/size. Both the sdcard coming to two years old now
can you elaborate a little on what you meant by getting burnt? spoilt or speed slow?
Phone kept showing mount and unmount sd card every minute. Put on pc also take very long time only can detect. Most fed up is when I go claim, the fellow tell me this is very common in s4 as s4 slot is sensitive. I screw him on the spot asking why it worked for months on s4 already, but last week only start happening.

the guy speech that i found, S4 slot sensitive n i would say, no such case
besides, all of the unmount/mount SD errors was caused by thr faulty card...
anyone has a current-gen honda city? wondering if i can use the steering wheel audio controls and head unit to control music stored on the s4 or via spotify?
Is it normal for the picture to be more grainy the more you zoom it? Mine is kinda grainy as hell if I zoom the closest.
Normal...and try to adjust the brightness and contrast..

If you don't mind expensive casing RM170-180. I'm using ori Spigen Slim Armor View. Full protection from front to back with S-View. Superb quality, drop once from waist height, no issue. Non-bulky and cool looking.
Really like S-View for phone calls, save screen power (since it display on a small view) and your face oil won't dirty the screen when taking call.
For slim iphone look alike without front cover but with good drop protection, spigen neo hybrid is the one you should go for.

Haiz, Note 3 coming out with only RM2399....additional RM200+ only vs our LTE, get bigger screen, 3gb ram vs S4 2GB and Snapdragon 800 vs our 600.
Expected their pricing to be RM2499 based on our LTE avg RM2299 pricing but then Note 3 is always only RM100 more based on track record. Much worth it to get vs S4, if you like the size.

Haha, S4 nothing special leh... when it come out also I dun feel anything special.
Ok larh. At least still way better than crapple. Different ppl different perspectives. I don't use S-Pen and I don't like big phones as I got to wear formal everyday. Big phones actually pinch my leg whenever I slot them into my formal pants. lol not lying!

I was from nexus s too!
I used to think that bloatwares aren't that bad, and nexus pricing was a tad too high.
now when I see how s4 price has drop due to note 3, bye S series. oh well, it was fun while it last.

Actually if you're really concern abt price drop, get iphone 5 series....price can be maintain at a certain high level for quite some time. Of course if you can tahan 4" screen after using 5". I know I have to squint my eyes a bit when using S4 size, I don't think I can survive with a 4" screen no matter how "high res" and "beautiful" the screen is.
For any android phones esp Samsung coz they release so many phones with same range at short period, price sure drop like a rock every 1 or 2 months until it hit the bottom limit...
That's why while I feel sakit hati since I bought my phone only a month ago at RM2170, if I can wait for Note 3 for 2 months, I need only spend abt RM200+ more for a much greater phone.
However I can't wait longer and I DO KNOW price WILL DROP when they launch NOTE 3, so its expected. What I have not expect is the pricing remain at only RM2399 for such great spec increased when they had launch S4 LTE with RM2499....so much higher than Note 3 launch price....expect to be launch at RM2499 at the least.
Anyway the size of S4 and weight does matter as I carry my phone in my pants pocket most of time. The total combined time of me looking at screen is like a couple of hours a day vs the total of time I have to carry my phone around that equal over 12 hours at the least. Carrying convenience over screen time.....I selected the balanced S4 instead for now until the time come when my eyes have to squint hard to read 5"...maybe wait for next year Note 4 kuah...

Yes samsung Malaysia really screwed up their s4 price launch this time. Where possible note 3 32gb lte launch price lower than s4 lte. Many feel betrayed and will surely boycott them for good. They dug their own grave. As for me, I will not go ip5 no matter what. The 4" screen and ios 7 design is terrible. I am just choosing the lesser of 2 evils here. Will still use my s4 while waiting for 5" ip6
Quite satisfied with it actually. The high res and very clear screen combined with excellent speed is more than enuf for me tho when I write notes, its a bit slow (S-Pen would be better option here).
Nowadays, I did not play anymore HD games on phone anymore, so just browsing, note taking, scheduling (s-plan, evernote, etc) and phone calls. Move all my gaming to ipad games instead. Better games platform for stability and choice vs android.
No regret getting S4 LTE tho except the pricing, nice weight, adequate screen screen, balanced all around phone. Note 3 better in all but the weight and carrying size in pocket a bit too bulky and heavy to carry long time. Also gua punya casing still go cool factor and nano screen HELP a lot in satisfaction level. Only a bit weak on my eyesight nowadays.
thinking of selling my s4 3g 16gb and upgrade to S4 LTE 32gb....is it worth it or should i wait for note 3???huhuhu....
If buy used S4 LTE will be cheaper price than new. Anyway Note3 with better CPU, 3GB RAM & 5.7"FHD should make S4 like S3 when Note2 release. Main problem with Note3, it's big to put in my jeans/pant pocket.

Dun think its too big I can even put 6.3" Mega. Since Note 3 smaller than Note 2, I'm sure pocketability is even better for Note 3.

May be your pocket bigger than mine, even S4 in my jeans feel not really comfortable during driving superbike. Sometime forgot to put my S4 out before driving.

don't buy the clone phone, better buy xiaomi or lenovo.
air gestures are just gimmicks anyway, and if it can't work well with s4, clone phone sure worst.
Not looking for a new phone. i'm still happy with my s3.. I don't think the air gesture is that practical.. but I guess that gimmicks on a clone phone did caught my attention for a moment
mirror function, I can't even mirror with another s4.
i think mirror function is mirror ur display to smart tv with a wireless dongle or device, dono wat it call oredi

try it and see . cause a lot of isheep user complaint the ota update damn buggy.. so i recommended use iTunes updatr and later on wanna go visit iMachines 1U later due the stupid music player...and .aac format can't play..
Get to KitKat team Germany. They leaked it. Flipboard has the news
But still no news of new features. Must be they trying to pump in more features to compete with ios7. Would be good they an include airdrop. Way better than nfc transfer.

I don't even know what features is in 4.3, I'm just hoping it'll fix the lag in the camera.
The Move to SD Card in our app info really does mean the external SD Card. There was one time, my S4 slowed. So rebooted.
First time reboot, all apps icon that were partially moved to SD, dimmed with SD Card appear in front of them. After SD was scanned, all the apps appeared. Based on my experience with S2 before ICS, this is the symptom of usage of ext SD storage.
So it seems 16GB S4 storage is not that handicapped after all.

Omega = less bloat, android 4.3 camera Arrow = AOSP looks (using theme from Vertumus) Crash = custom looks, less bloat Wanam = less bloat, comes with Adam kernel
But of course, you can still flash Adam kernel alone and flash other rom later on
My current S4 is using Arrow rom v6 + Perseus kernel v8 + ComaDose booster
HERES A WARNING, PLEASE FLASH MG9 MODEM FIRST TO AVOID IMEI LOST BEFORE FLASHING CUSTOM ROMS.

The Gear is the ugliest smartwatch in the market now so I don't see why anyone would be proud to have something like that on their wrist. The big advantage it has over other smartwatches is that it has a camera. Sad that it didn't turn out to be like the earlier concept that was shown with flexible screen. Now that was cool. I was expecting more coming from Samsung. There's already news about them planning to launch another Gear as early as January because no one was blown away by this one. I'm also waiting for the Sony Smartwatch which is half the price and looks cooler. I have the previous one, paired it with my S4 and am quite happy with it.

sony smartwatch with S4 good o nt? wat apps normally u use? do u use for jogging?
Guys, planning to get the S4 soon. Should I go for Octa-core? Which model is with it? Is there any problems?
Exyno 5 (4 A15 + 4 A7) Octa-core w 3.5g - i9500 Snapdragon s600 Quad-core w LTE - i9505 Google Play Edition Snapdragon s600 Quad-core w LTE - i9505G Snapdragon s800 Quad-core w LTE-A - i9506
This is all the s4 you can get in Malaysia, do note that i9500 and i9505 is the only official set you can get in Malaysia, the rest are AP set.
i9500 - have better camera sensor(sony exmor rs) and audio chip(wolfson DAC) than i9505, less developer support and no triangle away to reset counter binaries.
i9505 - have better developer and official CM support. Have slightly better battery life than i9500.
i9505 - pure vanilla/Google experience. No bloatwares are available.
i9506 - fastest processor and fastest connection. Theres no developer support at the moment.
Go for i9500 if you like to take pictures, listen to music and so on. Doesnt mean you cant flash, you can still flash, just you will permanently void your warranty la btw, CM is also coming to i9500, and MIUI support this device too. Dont forget the awesome Perseus kernel thats supporting our device
Go for i9505 if you love to flash. In this version, you could also turn it into Google Play Edition by flashing Google Edition rom. You will also get the fastest connection in this device (4G LTE)
Go for i9506 if you prefer Nexus/Vanilla experience. Right out of the box, your phone is already smooth as butter :nods:
Go for i9506 if you want the fastest processor. Do note that you wont be able to use LTE A cuz Malaysia havent launch the LTE A connection. I dont think we will be able to see it in the next 3 years
In the end, its all depend on you bro, goodluck

Woah thank you so much bro! Most helpful reply ever! I think I've made up my mind. Wanted LTE but definitely going for the 9500! Much appreciated

S4 9500 16gb s4 9505 32gb.
I would get 9505 if I were you. it has lte , more stable compared to 9500, and its 32gb storage just a big bonus. Well certainly the price is slightly higher.
All of my friend, I mean it all has regret for purchasing 9500. If only they waited longer.

Definitely should wait for note3 officially available. Just another 1 week to go. By that time s4 lte price will free fall.

More stable in terms of? Btw I'm planning to fully utilise the camera, so if the camera is different, I'm going for the one with a better camera.

but heres the thing bro, i forgot to mention the storage capacity
im so sorry, but i9500 only has 16GB compared to lte 32GB but no worry, i myself have problem to fully utilize 9gb left in this phone
No worries bro. The external sd slot wil be just fine

Yup, even my 16gb sd card also still have 8gb left
sony smartwatch with S4 good o nt? wat apps normally u use? do u use for jogging?
I don't use it for jogging. I usually use it to check sms, whatsapp, facebook notifications, and who is calling. Sometimes I use it to control my music. One of my favorite apps is where you can open your phone camera and put your phone in a room, then you can go to another room and see whats happening in that other room where your phone is. Kinda like a spy camera la but you can't go too far because its using bluetooth. So far it has been very useful because my phone is always on silent and I can't feel it vibrate because of the casing so its good to know if there's anyone calling or sms from my watch.
Yup, even my 16gb sd card also still have 8gb left
cuz i have laptop, pc, phone, tablet so yeah...
idk what to put on my phone already
Haha. Coz of the awesome screen maybe, I might put in a lot of movies and series too. Btw, since the Note III is officially launching soon, it's better for me to wait? The price of the SIV will probably drop a bit eh?

Manolo Rodriguez's Samsung Galaxy S4 caught fire and exploded, burning him.
man's cellphone catches fire in his pocket, explodes
A man says he was burned by his exploding cell phone, and fire investigators are focusing on the phone's lithium battery as the cause.
The phone is one of the most popular on the market – a Samsung Galaxy S4, which is the newest model.
Manolo Rodriguez said he first heard a sizzling sound and then realized the phone in the chest pocket of his jacket was burning and was about to burst.
"I tried to reach for the phone and pull it out, but it was too hot," he said. "So I retracted my hand, closed the zipper and then unzipped the center one so I could get my jacket off."
He threw it to the floor of the Goodwill store he was in. The phone burned right through the pocket of his jacket. And it was so hot it singed the floor and Rodriguez’s fingertips.
"If I had been talking on the phone or something, it could have exploded in my face," he said. "It could have been worse."
Rodriguez has hired an attorney in hopes of getting Samsung to recall the 20 million Galaxy S4s in customers' hands.
Rodriguez now has a new phone, but it's a HTC One, not a Samsung.
In general, it's a good idea not to use an off-brand battery in your phone. Rodriguez's was the original. Don't leave your phone out in the sun or heat. Rodriguez had not. And don't have really long conversations on your cellphone, either.
A Samsung representative said Thursday that the company is not commenting until it investigates what happened.
KATU News also reached out to the FCC. The agency is checking into how many similar cases have been reported.

Oo..latest firmware DMH6..quite a jump from BMG5 But still want to know if the latest firmware change the SELinux status to enforcing...from permissive...or not..? Anybody..?
I still on BMG5..still haven't update to DMH6.. And my SELinux status still on permissive. Looks like the update change the SELinux status. I think I gonna skip the OTA update and do it manually then. Thanks bro

Am looking a workaround as I want to avoid my SELinux status from changing. I heard it will be problematic to root the phone once the status is enforcing.

His SELinux usex to be Enforcing but MG5 changes it to Permissive
No..last time when I root the phone..it still permissive. Unfortunately I got problem till it bricked the phone. Went to service centre and they reflash back to full stock BMG5 firmware. Still not root the phone till now..lolz
And i just receive notification ask me to update the firmware.

Android’s initial SELinux implementation is launching in permissive mode - rather than the non-functional disabled mode or the most stringent enforcing mode - to act as a reference and facilitate testing and development.
QUOTE
Android strongly encourages OEMs to test their SELinux implementations thoroughly. As manufacturers implement SELinux, they should initially release their own policies in permissive mode. If possible, apply the new policy to devices of employees first as a test.
Once applied, make sure SELinux is running in the correct mode on the device by issuing the command: getenforce
This will print the SELinux mode: either Disabled, Enforcing, or Permissive. If permissive, you are compliant. Enforcing is explicitly not compliant in Android 4.3. (Because of its risk, enforcing mode comes with a much heavier testing burden.)
By default, we will be shipping with SELinux capabilities enabled in the kernel, but in a Permissive mode. What this means is that your phone will behave exactly as it currently does, with no noticeable change to the user.
There are 3 modes in total, Enforcing, Permissive and Disabled. While in Enforcing mode, SELinux policies are enforced, preventing whatever causes a violation (ie su). Permissive mode logs policy violations, but does not prevent the activity that caused it. Disabled turns SELinux off.
We are using Permissive mode as our default so we can come up with sensible policies. If you submit a log for us to analyze (via JIRA) for SELinux policy improvements, the logged exceptions will be of high value.
This will be an ongoing process as we work to incorporate sensible policies for each device repo. As always our source is available on Github and patches will be peer reviewed via gerrit. For those more attuned to personal data security, you are welcome to watch and audit our efforts. For the rest of you, sit back and relax – no need for pitchforks.

Your phone over heating..!!? Do you mean soft the internal or external side.? For external...try use casing that made from rubber/thick soft plastic. For internal...nothing to worry about. The phone will go into auto shutdown when the temperature go real high.
Conclusions and Facts about KNOX-enabled firmwares
Not possible to downgrade to KNOX-disabled firmwares/bootloaders (An attempt sets 0x1) (even though some people state, downgrade is possible when omitting the bootloader file in a firmware package: see http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2444671, not confirmed) Even if you flash a KNOX-enabled firmware via odin (e.g. the latest fw) knox will be set to 0x1 Flashing unsigned or modified images via odin will set knox to 0x1 Samsung stated, resetting the flag is impossible KNOX is mandatory and can not be completely removed Warranty Void is no counter, it is a flag (0,1) it was never seen 0x2 or so Mirroring all partitions from a clean 0x0-Device to a 0x1-Device via JTAG produces an unfunctional device (reversible by restoring the 0x1 partitions on the phone) KNOX bootloader verifies signatures of kernels and recoveries. No custom ones possible without voiding the knox warranty

My Knox warranty flag now is 0x30..!! : Even after reflashing at service centre cannot teset that flag. In fact the flag increase after service centre technician flash back full stock firmware.
ahodil what is your flag count now..?
you can check by going into download mode.

dunno bro, btw how to exit download mode after that
Bwahaha...so bro..how much is your flag count..? Look at second last info at the download mode. Mine is 0x30.. Meaning the statement that say there's no 0x2 on flag count is not true then
So there is still no root method for the SElinux = enforcing?
You can root your phone. There's no problem on rooting. The problem is with the Knox warranty flag. When all on stock firmware it show 0x0. Once you root or try to flash anything..the warranty flag will increase to 0x1. At this moment there's no way to reset that warranty flag back to 0x0.

Just about to ask this question. So, rooting wont brick the phone, when the status is "enforcing" now?
Btw, has anyone tried CM stable version for i9505?

My S4 still on permissive status and it been flash with stock firmware at service centre. And my flag count already 0x30..lolz
In other word..it doesn't matter your phone on permissive or enforcing status.
All I know while in permissive status..I can still mix and match the roms..kernel and modem. Maybe..just maybe when it's on enforcing mode you can't even change that after you flash custom roms or kernel.
And no...usb jig or TriangleAway won't effect that warranty flag.

How come S4 LTE still remain at RM 2000+ now? If one are not sure which one to get, the RM100 difference should push it greatly to Note 3, 2.3 Snapdragon 800 plus 3GB memory plus big screen.

It depends on person bro, some may like big screen, some may not.
IMO, i dont like the current N3 design, plus with the faux leather back. Its just a total rip off for me

That's why I mentioned if one not sure which one to get, undecided person that can go either way.
I'm ok with the faux leather. The frontal look still looks as boring as the rest, so no comment there. Faux leather once scratch tho, is very obvious and ugly so casing is a necessity now. Unfortunately using S-view or full cover casing on the Note 3 usually makes it looks way bigger than its already large size (to make phone calls). Most of my friends using Note 2 with rear or no cover to minimize the size increase.

How come S4 LTE still remain at RM 2000+ now? If one are not sure which one to get, the RM100 difference should push it greatly to Note 3, 2.3 Snapdragon 800 plus 3GB memory plus big screen.
Historically, Note have been selling much higher price than Galaxy series. Now is the other way round for s4lte. As I said, Sammy really screwed up on their pricing strategy. This is partly due to 5s threat to compete with now, whereas no competition from Apple when s4 launched. And this is going to push many loyal fans away due to feeling cheated for paying higher for s4lte while note 3 is known to be the upper class with better specs.
The only thing i like about N3 is the stylus command thingy

Thats why, always wait for few weeks or months before buying a specific device unlike me, my phone died and ive no choice to buy it at the same day

Samsung Malaysia haven't discuss the latest pricing for S4 lte if confirmed, the 4G price will drop to 2199 and 3G 1999

s4 lte? nothing.
Itu free gear only got 100 unit lar...so only some lucky ******* will get it.
Anyway, you get any android phone also price will drop like shit....except ipong. Just has to bear with it if you want high end android phone. I only surprise becoz the price is so near the S4 LTE version even now.
Given 3 months after release, its price will be even lower than what S4 LTE was at the same period. S4 LTE was RM2170++ after 3 months. What do you think Note 3 price will be like since the market value now is RM2199? CNY period of course will jumped back up.
Now the metal ipong also comes with a plastic version....where's the plastic bashers liao....suddenly all disappear on all android sites..hehe.
