Look quite similar with Zalman CNPS9700 NT....
But Auras, what brand is that?  blush.gif

LOL..I am wondering that myself..

Anyway, the design seems really weird but in the other side, does seem to make some sense to me though..For now, i would leave those coolers that have built in fan. Dont like it when the fan died...

I am looking into the Ultra120 as a replacement for my CPU cooler as well...LOL..

Anyway, in the meantime, do you guys know how could i force my CPU cooler's fan to run at full speed all the time?I couldnt seem to find a software to do so..

Tried using fan controller before but wouldnt work. Fan would not turn. Therefore, looking into the software way though..I can see the fan is only turning for about 1k RPM when i turn on my PC. Causes my processor to be around 45c during idle...Wanted it to go lower than this..

Don't understand. Why can't you use speedfan to control the CPU fan speed? Just set the fan to run at 100% only..... hmm.gif

Yup. In configure>speeds.

Set the minimum CPU fan speed to 100% and walaa! Your fan will run at 100%!!! thumbup.gif

Usually what I do is change the fan speed to 0% and see which fan stops spinning.

You can vary the fan speed in the first page (main page). Make sure the "automatic fan speed" is unchecked.

Once you've identified the fan, you can change the name in the configuration menu to something like "CPU fan".

Question: Why do you want to run at 100% even at idle? You can set the fan to run at 100% if your CPU temp reach a certain temperature ma..... e.g. CPU fan at 100% when CPU temp reaches 40'c.

You can do this in configure>temperatures. Look at your CPU temperature setting and set the desired temperature. Let's say you set it at 40'c. So, once the CPU temperature goes above 40' the fan will speed up to you max setting (which you should set at 100%). For this you need to set the minimum fan speed to something ilke 40%..... or faster or slower depending on your desire....

For this option also, you need to check the "automatic fan speed"....

Hope this helps! thumbup.gif

Well, for a first, my Zalman is not performing really well. There are times when my Opteron are idling at around 45c on a hot day. Might be due to the low fan speed cause it will auto adjust the fan speed. Currently, its only running at a mere 900+ rpm. I do feel it could do better at this and wanted it to run at max. This will allow me to see how well it could perform before i decide to get another HSF for the CPU..

why I cant control the fan speed using that software meh? or is it not compatible with my cheapo mobo? anyway, my OCed pentium 4 2.66GHz [oc to 2.99GHz] got this temp using my ninja [passive, no fan attached].

You need to enable the "automatic fan control". However, it is not that easy. You need to properly set the CPU fan settings on the configure menu. Try googling speedfan guide on how to set the speedfan to run optimally.....

Ok. Do you know which one is controlling your CPU fan? Is it speed01 or speed02?

You can know by reducing the speed from 100% to 0%. The fan will stop!

Errr.... you don't have a CPU fan right? What fans are you using and where are they attached to? Make sure your fan connector on the mobo supports fan rpm sensor. You have to check your mobo's manual for that.....
