Idle: When there are no program at all running in background...
The best way to find an idle temperature is to leave the pc running free for 10 minutes... [Don't forget to run a temperature reader software in the background]

Full Load: When the processor is running at 100% in the task manager...

Thanx alot...

Not sure how to push my proc to run at 100% though..

Anyway, i am using AMD64 3000+ venice with Zalman Fatal1ty Cpu Cooler and my idle temp is about 30c...

I am wondering, i am currently using the Zalman Fatal1ty CPU cooler.I will be getting my hands on the AMD Opteron 165 very soon.Would the stock Opteron cooler be able to perform better than my Fatal1ty?Cause the Opteron cooler do have heatpipes while my Zalman doesnt...

Saw one stock FX HSF selling on e-bay few days back for some rather cheap price. Try check it out, i think still available.
Since you're gonna have both in hand, why don't you be the one to enlighten us how well does the stock "good looking" AMD HSF perform... biggrin.gif
*
Well, if i get my hands on the Opty soon, i will definitely test it to see how good it can performs..Cause i really need to know whether the Zalman will work better or not.And since the Opty Stock HSF is quite looking as well, i might opt for the stock rather than the Zalman...

I read from reviews saying the Zalman is a little noisy due to the ratlling sound of the fins. Is it true in ur experience?

Btw, with the stock cooler performing on par with the XP-90, i think a ggod fan will do some decent job for it.
*
Well, not really.I have tested the Fatal1ty and the CNPS 9200 and both works fine.Silent and have quite impressive performance i must say.Never tested other HSF though...Anyway, the Zalman is famous for silent cooling so i dont think noise will be a problem there...

Do you think we can change the stock delta fan on the Stock HSF?Cause i think it might make alot of sound.Tested at 40db at the review..I think changing it to something like Silverstone would really give better performance for a much lower sound.Would it?

Not all casing fan shoot air to the outsite.IIRC the front fans suck air in while the back ones suck air out of the case...Not that sure about the top and side ones...

u can try running one or two applications of Prime95 to make ur CPU full load smile.gif 26c idle is freaking low man blink.gif

Thats what shocked me when i got my Athlon64 3000+ venice using Zalman Fatal1ty CPU cooler...Using stock AMD cooler was at 29c.

Was idle supposed to be right when we switch on the PC or when we on our PC for some time first and check the temperature when nothing is loading?

Currently running Opteron 165 at stock speed with Zalman Fatal1ty and unbranded Silver TIM - 34c (idle)

Will switch over to AMD Stock Cooler later as i do not have the bracket with me..as well as using AS5.

Would mobo be able to affect the temperature of a processor using air cooling?

I am currently running the Opty 165 on Fatal1ty, acheiving about 33c on idle using Gigabyte K8N-SLI.

Another system, also running on Opty 165 on stock Opteron heatsink, acheiving about 30c on idle using DFI Lanparty Venus

Both on same type of TIM.If motherboard would not be in any sense affecting the temperature of a processor, this means that the Stock Opteron Heatsink is definitely better than the Fatal1ty.

Will test again using stock heatsink on the gigabyte mobo, and using CNPS9500 on the DFI mobo...

lol...In the process of learning.I am an absolute n00b in term of OC..Anyway, can i use the Opty stock cooler for my Athlon 3000 as well?Time to let go of my Fatal1ty and use the stock cooler.Doing it next week. And if the result is not satisfactory, might get myself another cooler as in the NT06 as well...

Well, i like my Fatal1ty.It aint that noisy personally for me.You can only hear some sound when you opened up the side panel and stuck your ear near the cooler..Performance is ok, not the best. But the problem is, its clashing with my ram slots.I am unable to use slot1&2 due to the fatal1ty clashing with my Corsair with LED.

Anyway, i am pretty much sure my stock opty cooler beat the hell out of my fatal1ty.And the NT06 caught my eye the first time i see it.Absolute beauty...Not really keen on TT or Noctua though although the performance is really good...
