I don't believe this! Is it even practical or cost effective?
Imagine the space it is going to take up, not to mention the price!!! Unless it can beat a water-cooling unit on a price-performance ratio, then WC would be a better option! AND, imagine the need to remove the HSF everytime you want to change some mobo components..... |

QUOTE(toughnut @ Jun 3 2007, 08:38 AM) @kmarc Thanks for the clarification.i think he meant the "deadspot". the middle of the fan where the motor are, doesn't push air. if close contact with heatsink, no air pushed in that area. if u distance a bit between fan and heatsink, some air will pass through there due to space available for air to disperse. might sound confusing cuz i'm bad in explaining stuff lol |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jun 3 2007, 10:20 AM) Ya, I know what he meant. The trade off is that the air flow's speed is less and a lot of air will be dispersed around the heatsink rather than through it. well ... .i forgot to mention is, a short airduct between the fan & heatsink will reduce the lost of air flow .Not only that, those air that disperse at the dead spot also comes from the fan anyway!!! Edit : Your explanation is not bad at all. "Deadspot" is the correct term which I didn't think about!! Added on June 6, 2007, 11:36 amBtw guy, where can i get fair price water cooling kit that work reasonable with the price ?? i mean what i paid & what i get. Below RM 300 pls. Le, why didn't you mention the airduct earlier on???Added on June 6, 2007, 11:36 amBtw guy, where can i get fair price water cooling kit that work reasonable with the price ?? i mean what i paid & what i get. Below RM 300 pls. Of course, with an air-duct, all the air that blows out of the fan will be channeled into the heatsink. That's no argument about that. In fact, I'm thinking about doing a custom made air-duct in a Y-shape configuration, so that it can accomodate 2 fans blowing air from 2 channels into a single channel before it hits the heatsink!!! There's a discussion somewhere about getting cheap water-cooling stuff. All in all, the general recommendations is that if you want water-cooling, it is better to get a good one in the range of at least rm600-700. It is generally not recommended to get cheap WC setups..... |

Right, here's my "air duct"!!! Don't laugh aaa..... going for cooling rather than looks....
Both fans using cooler master silent fan. Right fan at full speed. Left fan variable speed using speedfan to control. Still silent! Now orthosing at 2.77 Ghz at 1.40v in hot room (air-con not on), core temp at 57-58'c. Used to be 61-62'c when using normal fan position (attached to heatsink)! Planning to get a high cfm fan later....... 3 pictures - front view, side view and top view... Attached thumbnail(s) |
