![]() So got the Swatch YAS704 as a gift, it's a ETA2842. My first interaction with a swiss movement, there are something odd that I want to make sure with sifus here 1. I was hearing the pallet fork touching the escape wheel, the sound is like "chuck chuck chuck chuck" with "ding ding ding ding", these 2 sounds goes together, while on my orient, i didn't hear the "dings", is it normal? 2. I know that most sifu will advice not to adjust the time backwards, but from the box out, i didn't read the manual and goes on trying, i tried to move slightly backwards (very softly and slowly) I can see the second needle starts to jerk and move slightly backwards too, is this normal too? Thanks in advance for anyone that could answer my question. |

Is it because pilots buy a lot more watches than say.. an accountant? I don't know how to describe that sound Even the Rolex Air King has supposed Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot provenance. Is it because pilots buy a lot more watches than say.. an accountant? 1. Never heard a watch that chuck chuck chuck and ding ding dings like a train + bell tower crossover 2. That's the hidden "reverse hacking function". Not sure does it stops the second hand, but when i saw the second hand move abit backwards, i immediately stopped moving, scared it will hurt the movement. |

QUOTE(ck77 @ Oct 25 2013, 09:43 AM) No one can deny that Cartier Santos is the world first watch for aviation used. But then the flieger's are really boring navigator/bombardier watches which is not nearly as cool as Messerschmitt fighter pilots but nobody goes harp about the Tutima and Hanhart chronographs that they wore while dogfighting Spitfire pilots sporting Air Kings over the skies of Britain. http://www.monochrome-watches.com/worlds-f...er-santos-1904/ As for IWC's pilot line, yes, they is the original pilot watchmaker for WWII. Among others are Lange, Wempe, Stowa, Laco. But no one can claim the copyright as the design and spec is from the military. http://www.calibremagazine.com/node/305 And what about the Seikosha that the Zero kamikaze pilots wore. Seiko should really do a reissue since not many examples still exist for obvious reasons. Or the Glycine Airman that the Vietnam F-4 pilots favor....or the.. the lists goes on. Instead we get bombarded by IWC Miramar Top Gun that Tom Cruise didn't wear and B&R instruments strapped around a model "fighter pilot" wrist. |

glycine airman is something that i've been interested in, especially the 1953 vintage reissue, but at almost rm7k with something i feel its novelty will eventually wear off...i think i'll pass and stick with divers
