QUOTE(Everdying @ Oct 24 2013, 12:11 AM) does it matter? they are no different to other companies who have no real watchmaking heritage like stowa, b&r or panerai...watchsnob ftw Seiko has heritage, made the first Quartz watch and almost killed the entire group of Swiss manufacturers. Watchsnob don't give them that much credit. LOL.Swatch watches are good, they are in house movements (LOL). Just buy the one you like and wear it. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Oct 24 2013, 03:08 PM) Go to swatch shop and touch it, then go an ahpek shop and touch the cheapest Seiko 5 you can find. You'll have your answer. Later he answer you...tertouch the ahpek hand..very wrinkly.. a bit soft too... then he bought the Seiko 5 cause the ahpek smiled at him |

QUOTE(more2teayap @ Oct 24 2013, 03:29 PM) The Swatch's 2841 movement is a downgrade version (beats at 21,600vph like most Seikos) of the 2824 using cheaper parts and cannot hack like the Seiko. While the Seiko's 7s26/36 isn't the most pretty or the most accurate movements around but it is a very evolved one. It's tough and most of all, its also dirt cheap to replace and every ahpek watchguy can fix it. Whether they wanna do it or not is another story. Not to mention it's only 3 bar water resistance meaning its splash proof while most Seiko 5's are between 5 bar and 10 bar for the "Sports" model which means you can swim with it. Awful Swatch straps with 4 piece lug = you're stuck with the strap (have I mentioned that its awful?) unless you're handy with the dremel and play chop chop on the case. Most of all.. Could you seriously wear it out? |

Wut the, I searched 2841 movement and saw the someone said "The escape wheel and pallet are not made of steel. They look like silicone of plastic." Actually not going to buy it, but got it as a gift from a lucky draw, got an orient myself, but my gf wants it, so I might as well give her. While the Seiko's 7s26/36 isn't the most pretty or the most accurate movements around but it is a very evolved one. QUOTE(Everdying @ Oct 24 2013, 04:55 PM) there was a time when seiko wanted to beat the swiss badly... QFTnow they're just beating themselves to death For a start, they should start to focus and cut down on the bazillion generic models loosely organized along a gazillion overlapping product lines and let their sub brands like Alba, Wired + another gazillion more to do their thing. |

Personally I think Panerais are silly, but I want one. And I would avoid their automatics like the plague, and go for the hand wound ones, least those are historically correct for Panerai...
As silly as it is, I still think Panerai > B&R..that's even more silly. |
