Factors that affect network performance:

1) Your device:
-You can't expect it to have 20Mbps when your modem's capability is just running max up to 7.2Mbps.
-You might be having a faulty modem, try switching your SIM card with other modems.

2) Your signal coverage:
-If you are not within LTE coverage or getting awful 1 bar signal, don't expect to have 20Mbps of speed.
-Consider placing your modem at a better spot.

3) Congested with other users:
-If you live in an area where there are a lot of users using Maxis, be prepared with network congestion.
-All telco providers will do survey first before doing bandwidth allocation to each location.
-Even you have a 100Mbps modem, under serious congestion, you may not even get 5Mbps.

4) Timing:
-Avoid performing download activities during golden hours (7-11 p.m.), this is the period where those working folks are back to home and start jamming the line. Be considerate with others. You could schedule your downloads to start only after midnight when they go to bed. smile.gif

How to Complaint to Maxis
  • Tweet to Maxis CS @MaxisListens
  • Submit a complaint to Maxis Forum
  • Giving them a call through any Maxis mobile number, the number is 123.
  • Use the Maxis Live Chat
Lastly, be patient and they will fix your issue soon!

Contact company's AM and he will do the rest for you.

I don't even need to go to Maxis Centre as I went there before, they can't find this plan. Only the corporate department can do it.

After my AM registered for me, he even got a dispatch to send my SIM card to my office on the same day. Then called the corporate careline to activate. biggrin.gif

That was 2 months ago. I also changed a few months ago without affecting the plan.

The main question here is that what will happen to your plan now, if you change your sim after 27 Aug. Will you be changed to the new hlr which gives you 4gb quota? or will your plan still be the same? don't think that anyone has an answer for this now. Who wanna be crash test dummy? whistling.gif

Hi ohmlawx,
Based on our checking, the data for Maxis Biz 68 capped at 4GB. Please do revert should you require further assistance.

Thank you.

Telco in Malaysia suka suka hati tukar Top as their will. I also kena last time with Digi. When I applied the unlimited package, it's wasn't that unlimited anymore. Then auto billing entitled only 6 month rebate of RM5.

The 123, 1919 or Maxis CS will try to answer your Quota question as best as possible....IF they read their email correctly.... also up to some smart fellow to interpret differently....

So in all.... NONE of your question directed to the Maxis fellows will be answer correctly...
Why ask the first place....

try Mr. DIY.
use USB power, can plug to computer USB or direct AC USB power adapter.
I bought this below RM10.
They got many choices.

Guess what.... Maxis suppose to be CEO also got terminated before start work... Now Morten is taking over... Very nice fellow... perhaps too nice for this cut throat business... Perhaps he can outsmart the U Mobile CEO that got fired by Vincent Tan... Maybe new U Mobile CEO got new 30GB limited Biz68 plan intro from U Mobile...

I heard some birds say to me the Celcom have some insights into why Maxis Biz68 data can signup 1000 lines per month in Perak and 5000 lines in Selangor/KL.

Can these birds speak up?

No. That was yesterday.
Today U Mobile confirmed it is a termination.

So, it is not a resignation. Not about different point of view or perspective.
If it is just a normal resignation but U Mobile mentioned it as termination, they can be sued for defamation.

That's why U Mobile issued an official statement today to clarify on this matter.
It is a termination due to disciplinary action.

Got LTE, but not as great as those in KL which can reach 50Mbps shocking.gif

Go the pasar area test, there you will get cell tower from pasar building <- good speed, ~20Mbps for LTE
If you go tesco area, u will get cell tower from the big Melaka Sentral signboard <- not so good speed , ~10mbps LTE
If DC-HSPA+ also can reach 10Mbps at Giant area there smile.gif

No. My panel antennas don't work well with LTE.
So, nothing is attached to my modem.

Well, I would say the antennas don't work well with LTE. They work superb on DC-HSPA+ and lower.
Then, LTE towers are very stable and usually only one tower for each band (1800MHz and 2600MHz) in an area, so it doesn't matter because in the end you only have one choice for each band. laugh.gif

Well, I don't bother la. The panel antennas work very well for DC-HSPA+ and lower types. If not why would I have bought 3?
LTE antennas are different. smile.gif

I don't mind la, not like my LTE speed is very slow now. It is still very much desirable by others. whistling.gif

laugh.gif I was just joking earlier. blush.gif
I came from MMU, so yeah I fully understood the congestion. It made me go crazy during my uni days and especially when I was rushing for my FYP. Thank God, I got an A, thanks to my lenient markers. laugh.gif tongue.gif

Well, I tried Celcom and DiGi there. Both didn't work that well so I depended on MMU's connection most of the time.

If I recall it well, the only usable time was 2.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.
After that, these students are awake and came back from classes... There you go again for congestion.

Happened to me since Saturday's evening.
Both Biz68 and Legacy were very slow and not connected to LTE because I was in hometown.

Tomorrow going back to PJ and let's see how it fares there.

I'm confused a bit.

If we connected to LTE, then capped.

The after that we connected to DC back, no capped?

Right? or the capped become permanent? hmm.gif

I have the Maxis Biz68 unlimited package but the SIM is in a Huawei e5331 device.

I want to know if:
1. Can it download bittorrent? I dont own a desktop at home but just an old laptop. Sometimes, we want to download a torrent but seems like cannot. I tried uTorrent because my friend tell me no need to configure (not IT expert) but does not seem to work
2. Do i need to upgrade my MiFi device to a 3G modem / router or sorts to be able to download torrent?

While you guys are worrying about your LTE speeds, my landline has been disconnected due to renovation works, my home is fully dependent on 3G to stay connected to the internet.

Please help.

Hi, I have read 13 pages before posting.

if you are referring to the following: "Maxis do cap P2P connections. Torrent Port will only be opened at 1.00 a.m. - 7.00 a.m. or 3.00 a.m. - 7.00 a.m., depending on your area."

Yes, I have no tried bittorrent downloading from 1:00 - 7:00 AM. I will give it a try tonight.

I want to ask if activating a public IP helps with BitTorrent? And whether it's a product limitation? Huawei e5331 is a pretty small MiFi (again, not technical).

That's the answer to your question.
Public IP has nothing to do with BT.
Modem has nothing to do with BT.

Anyway, you won't be able to use your connection when torrent, it will be totally jammed

a much simpler way.. if anyone using a wireless router like TP-LINK MR3020

Maxis will override any custom dns you put in the wireless router with their own dns server. You can see this in the Status page under DNS Server section

The way to bypass this is to go to your DCHP setting and replace the dns with google dns or opendns ip. By doing this, mean all your devices connected to the router will use the custom dns server. You wont have to adjust your laptop or install any software tongue.gif

under custom dns tab

If maxis over write, put the custom dns ip into DCHP tab. Should also work

Yea i do know that. Just kinda disappointed with the speed i've been getting for the entire day sad.gif

At times , I can't even load a page even after waiting for nearly 30-60 seconds. I thought maybe it was because of the high traffic congestion but when I used my hotlink , I'm getting consistent 5mb/s download and 1mb/s upload. Even browsing is quick and swift. Do hope it changes by tomorrow. nod.gif

BTW I've been meaning to ask , each month the bill in total is RM68 + tax which would be around RM72+ iinm. How do i monitor my current credit usage on the go. Is there a way I could dial a number and monitor it ?

Bro I just found a way to change the DNS on ROOter.....

Go to Network > Interface > Wan(wwan0) > Click Edit > Advance Setting > Untick Use DNS Server advertised by peer > Key in your custom DNS. etc. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Restart modem and wait it to reconnect see if it works

I think the connection @ modem is similar to the setting where you directly plug the modem to pc. Which cannot set dns.

Tried to use Public IP (unetp). location Bayan Lepas, Penang.
Speed never exceed Down/Up 2048/384 ...
Cant see the exact QoS because using E398 modem.

I didn't mean you la. I was replying his post that he thought this package's LTE speed is capped at 10Mbps all the time.

Again, it goes back to this phrase which I like to use: "Different people, different expectations. "

maxis glitch, now all capped due to system upgrade by maxis, do use PM guys, dont discuss something that is sensitive here.
if you getting more than 64kbps, that's great and pls keep it to yourself.
Maxis now is very generous by giving us 0.12Mbps speed after quota, does it stand for 012-xxxxxxx maxis only number?!

I'm not sure about that, I went to george town just now, it didn't show the QoS when connected to LTE.
the speed test result seem match to the QoS, speed tested with TL-MR3020 ROOter + E398 U1V2 latest firmware (11.433.61.10.55):
So the QoS is related to SIM card? or it is something can change by maxis anytime?

On Rooter it show 8640 on mine (3G) but on MDMA on E372 show 42000
We knew QoS is not reported since LTE chipset, MDM9200 series. Even MDMA does not work anymore.
Nowadays I believe all Maxis SIMs are 42000, I can help you to test if you don't mind losing your SIM

Came back to PJ and my Sierra 320U cannot be connected anymore. doh.gif

I'm using Rooter, everything seems to be OK. Modem shows connected but no data packet received via LAN or WiFi.

Can somebody help?

SIM card no issue can be used on my E398. The only thing that I haven't tried is changing E398 to my router.

It means the router is not dialing 320U

Tr manually setting the communication port to ttyUSB2 and Data Port to ttyUSB3

I don't really sure on this matter too sad.gif

jeez, after constantly search for the best feng shui spot, in the end I found a place that can get me very stable 15-17mbps downlaod and 7-8mbps upload, suddenly when i setup there it lock to a slower tower pulak sweat.gif

but still got ~8mbps for download, just upload not very good, sometimes less then 1mbps, and might even dc half way thru speed test

but my understanding is 3G latency is typically 50-100ms right? The latency I got was 26ms

but well, to be absolutely sure, tonight I go home config my modem again to see, cos as I know, there is one fast tower in my area and I remembered the CellID, and I would restart several times to make my modem connect there instead, lol, but so far attempts failed sweat.gif

will test out tonight and report here again

Then try playing with 2600Mhz and 1800Mhz LTE, they are different congestion
Force modem to LTE only for the best

BTW, 3G can go to 26ms although my best is 28ms

Until today my Biz68 has much better speed compared to my Legacy, both on the same settings, same modem, same cell ID, same frequency. Everything else is the same except for plan.

wait.... come to think of it, I think the latency stays around 50ms now, so maybe it's 3G also sweat.gif

I can confirm 1800Mhz at my area have download ~8-10mbps and upload is very stable at 8-10mbps also, while 2600Mhz have up to 24mbps( outdoor test, highest i've seen) download and ~8mbps upload also, realistically, I've trying to get 15mbps upload, and ~5mbps upload stable and that should be fine. I've seen those speed before in my room, so I'm just testing with the right setup to get my constantly with that speed thumbup.gif

LTE has been stable on me all this while.
Can stay connected for 3 days and above on the same IP unless I manually disconnect it.

Depends, some might charger some didn't.
Best is to ask the CS when changing

Anyway, you guys can go any MEP to change too, it is faster unlike Maxis Centre always packed

This is why the plan will nt be the same state as before as there are too many ppl boast about the plan and causes it to be capped at 4gb…no need to know the new plan as long as the plan that got recently us the same as old biz68 plan…better keep it a secret…

when u lodge report, take down the person name you are talking to, get a case number, and then forward it to CFM with all that detail and what is your issue and how they settle it by directly close your case without any action taken,..

if CFM also cannot, proceed to SKMM
