Took your advise and go for CM Notepal U3, fan is easy to customizable, low noise due to the fan speed is not that high, but sufficient to cool the GS70 heated area.

Hello fellow MSI users,

I would like to upgrade my GE40 20C-019MY.

1. Take out ODD.
2. Transfer existing HDD to ODD bay with caddy.
3. Install SATA SSD in original HDD place.
4. Factory reset OS installed in new SSD (Don't care if wipe out contents of HDD. No need to transfer files or anything.)

The problem is, warranty sticker on screw at the back. So warranty void if I upgrade myself? Reading from the web, I'm unsure SC will help to upgrade. Is there a place where I can go to do this without voiding warranty?

I think you can ask MSI service center to help you switch, just you need to pay some fee

This is correct, especially if you're unsure about warranty.

Btw, I found lubang for the Dual mSATA RAID daughter board for around 400, if anybody interested. Personally I'm set on adding another spinner for the disk space rather than get an SSD/mSATA - price wise it's still a no brainer at this point in time, and my Lappy already boots effing fast enough for me anyway.

Can anyone tell me if GE40 is really hot on the wasd area when gaming long hours?

Wanted to get a more subtle gaming laptop, GE40 fits my budget.
just worry if its really hot then might as well spend more and get maybe alienware 14

WSAD area not hot. just the palm there abit warm coz that is the hard disk section. and top left for air flow. as long u got one good notebook cooler like CM it is fine.

IF u game for longer hours the left palm abit warm but still ok. put a fan or under air conditioned then it is fine biggrin.gif

if u get the alienware 14 rm4599 the graphic card is lousier, only GT750m. GE40 is GTX 760M. if u get the rm5199 alienware 14 only will win GE40 in terms of graphic wise.

Yeah pretty much. That said that particular seller has been known to mis-spec before.

Checking the MSI global site pretty much confirms what zaicon said: It's just a better screen with the 760. In which case I no saddings so much because I prefer a lower native reso for better gaming anyway. But the better panel does intrigue me.

That said, I'm prolly shelving my old "get SSD plan" unless I can find a cheap 500GB SSD - I'm actually more in need of space now compared to performance lol. Where the eff are the 2-3TB laptop HDDs people?

Come to the dark side (or bright side)... come~ come~~

68% sRGB on the 1600x900 vs the 99% sRGB on the 1920x1080...

Also.. the viewing angle is absolutely crazy! Absolutely no colour shift AT ALL at the extreme angles for both vertical and horizontal! There's still contrast/brightness shift, but at the very extreme levels... Hehe........... poison~ poison~ biggrin.gif

Hello all, I'm looking to buy a new gaming laptop and I really do like MSI design......

1 question between this 2 model.....GE60 20C & GE60 20E not much significant diff right?? as I only saw the diff in the graphic card??

Is this graphic card diff really worth the extra money to invest to??

IINM, the 2OE has blue backlit, and the 2OC doesn't.

It pretty much depends on your needs when gaming. Not all games require a GTX performance.
If you often game at med-high detail, its best that you get the one with GTX smile.gif

You should register your product. The warranty period would be visible there.
