I think the extra length is due to the waterproof materials, if they did a zl ultra it will be more practical since seldom we take bath and use the phone together. I can imagine if a zl version came out and cuts off 1.5-2cm bezel it will be even sexier.

They come out together. Every devices design from Sony have their own market segment target. ZU is a phablet that Sony wish to bring better feeling in entertainment, business. For mainstream phone in 2nd half of 2013 possible is the rumour honami.

ZL is compact 5" phone. Z is the best from Sony in first half of 2013.

yes i kinda liked the compact size of both ZL & ZR
from the teaser photo looks like the Honami will have the same length as Z, which i do think bigger than my comfort zone as a phone
mind you, i'm still using my trusty Ray, which imo nowadays look more like mp4 player than phone compared to giant 5 inch & up of today
guess i have to be 'comfortable' of the change if i wish to own a flagship product

ah Nice but announced on June 2013 also, same with Z Ultra.
So probably Z Ultra announced earlier than this thus claim the world first FHD waterproof phone
