I don't think sony is marketing this product emphasizing on sound and camera. It's more phablet emphasizing on screen and speed. Also the writing capabilities.

This was my biggest worry of all, and unfortunately it is true after what you said. Many reviews and hands-on so far did not even mention this issue. I guess this is another gimmick for the ZU and everybody would have thought they would be at least equal to Note 2's stylus performance, or better since this one allows pencil usage. Now it all boils down to the thinness of the phone, the display quality, screen size, waterproofing and blazing performance as the things going for it, but not sure if these are enough. Hmmm. More interested to see how good 1080p on a 6"+ screen actually is specifically for reading text - vs. a 720p screen (like galaxy mega 6.3, or huawei ascend mate). Is there actually a tangible day to day difference? Or do you really have to use a magnifying glass to tell? Does it allow you to read smaller text without zooming?

The processor shouldn't be a issue in my opinion - my note 2 handles large (500mb+ sometimes) PDFs just fine. SmartQ Reader is best for just reading imo (fastest), but if you want annotation features than ezpdf is best.

Would love someone who actually owns one to comment on the above Still tossing up whether to buy this or a 6.3 galaxy mega/ascend mate as its ~$400 difference at the moment. Is the 1080p vs 720p on a 6"+ screen worth it?

I NEVER like to use those bluetooth or wired headsets. I find these troublesome and  a nuisance. Nothing beats holding it up to your ears. Even when driving, I will never take calls and will stop if I need to
How can it be difficult to hold it with one hand to your ears - it is not that gigantic. I have seen guys/ladies holding up 7-8 inch tablets to their ears so many times and that is even worse !!

Since certain sellers selling the XZU at RM21xx, I would reckon that the distributor pricing is about RM2000, which is in-line with the earlier distributor price you mentioned.

guys the call volume is not too soft what. i just called my wife on max volume sounded good, albeit a little softer than note 2, but it's acceptable to me.

There should be a noise-cancelling mic on the XZU, right? So even in noisy background, the earpiece should be quite good in performance. Haven't tested it myself but will check on it once I get my XZU.

First you need root. - very easy, safe and easy to reverse if required. First thing I do for any device I buy. So useful - Adblocker, Titanium back up and many other cool apps. This is as an aside to custom ROMS

Then install Xposed framework - very simple just an apk.

Very easy to do if you have root. I run Chrome on 213 DPI (tablet) and also for PDF readers too. You see more on the screen - something I'm hoping the 1080p screen will help (means you can make text smaller and still read it clearly). Also makes certain apps think you're running a tablet and it engages tablet UI - dual panes etc

This is another benefit for me for waiting for the XZU over the Mega 6.3 - more mod/XDA support.

it means Full HD waterproof because it rated as IP 58
Xperia Z is also Full HD but is water resistant since it rated as IP 57
