QUOTE(joytest @ Jul 27 2013, 03:42 PM) No kidding? Cons: No Flash No palm rejection Poor speaker Plus: Good screen Largest phablet Cons : 1 - Volume + power button not suitable if u r using left hand . Where do they expect us to hold the phone , top ? 2 - Call volume very soft even set to max , barely can hear what the other party is talking in a noisy environment .

QUOTE(KLlee @ Jul 27 2013, 06:20 PM) I don't think sony is marketing this product emphasizing on sound and camera. It's more phablet emphasizing on screen and speed. Also the writing capabilities. Guess there is no, one device to suit all.. I'm not referring to speakers where we play music . I'm referring to the earpiece we put our ear 2 to listen to calls . And as for writing capability , how am I a left hander gonna write from left to right without touching the screen as it doesn't response if I accidentally rest my palm on it . 5 mins ? 10 mins ? I'm sorry but I'm spoilt by Note series .

QUOTE(dannygeni @ Jul 27 2013, 07:04 PM) the speaker part i think its because of the water resistant material or something. same material with xz and xperiz zr also..both speaker very soft Funny thing about this , I dont see it's a problem for phones like fujitsu F-02E , F-06E and also Sharp SH-06E , all 3 are IP58 certified as well . Both speakers for calls and ringtone/music player are loud enough .

QUOTE(shockk @ Jul 28 2013, 12:01 AM) This was my biggest worry of all, and unfortunately it is true after what you said. Many reviews and hands-on so far did not even mention this issue. I guess this is another gimmick for the ZU and everybody would have thought they would be at least equal to Note 2's stylus performance, or better since this one allows pencil usage. Now it all boils down to the thinness of the phone, the display quality, screen size, waterproofing and blazing performance as the things going for it, but not sure if these are enough. Hmmm. Thanks for highlighting this Benny! Looking at the built quality of it's cover , I wouldn't be surprise the issue of Xperia Z arises again where the covers become lose due to opening n closing , making it no longer waterproof .

QUOTE(plasmapuff @ Jul 28 2013, 12:30 PM) More interested to see how good 1080p on a 6"+ screen actually is specifically for reading text - vs. a 720p screen (like galaxy mega 6.3, or huawei ascend mate). Is there actually a tangible day to day difference? Or do you really have to use a magnifying glass to tell? Does it allow you to read smaller text without zooming? The processor shouldn't be a issue in my opinion - my note 2 handles large (500mb+ sometimes) PDFs just fine. SmartQ Reader is best for just reading imo (fastest), but if you want annotation features than ezpdf is best. Would love someone who actually owns one to comment on the above Still tossing up whether to buy this or a 6.3 galaxy mega/ascend mate as its ~$400 difference at the moment. Is the 1080p vs 720p on a 6"+ screen worth it? Thanks heaps in advance Text do look better on FHD on 6"+ especially when u zoom in text . That's about all . Colors do look better as well compared to the other 2 models you mentioned . As for 6+ 720p , i still prefer Huawei over Samsung , colors are better as well but that's me .

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jul 28 2013, 08:09 PM) I NEVER like to use those bluetooth or wired headsets. I find these troublesome and a nuisance. Nothing beats holding it up to your ears. Even when driving, I will never take calls and will stop if I need to How can it be difficult to hold it with one hand to your ears - it is not that gigantic. I have seen guys/ladies holding up 7-8 inch tablets to their ears so many times and that is even worse !! This is a shot comparing it with the Tablet Xperia Z : [attachmentid=3558049] Uncle changing new car ?

QUOTE(shockk @ Jul 30 2013, 01:06 PM) Very nice. But no details on whether the case has sleep/wake function support or not. The distributor for Sony phones now still Midland? Since certain sellers selling the XZU at RM21xx, I would reckon that the distributor pricing is about RM2000, which is in-line with the earlier distributor price you mentioned. Personally, am interested to get the dock and SBH52. No , from Sony Malaysia directly . Those who have the unit now can double confirm as there's no sticker or warranty card from midlands or thorus or even dynamics . The warranty card given is the same warranty card we get buying sony products like LCD , Players ,etc . . Double confirmed with the dealer , he also says from Sony direct for XZU

QUOTE(h11g @ Jul 30 2013, 01:58 PM) guys the call volume is not too soft what. i just called my wife on max volume sounded good, albeit a little softer than note 2, but it's acceptable to me. Can hardly hear in KLCC or any other place with noisy background . Went back to Sony Center and they gave me 1 to 1 exchange since it's a presale and not suppose 2 be selling and therefore , cant go to Sony to claim warranty or check . After the 2nd unit exchanged , still the same problem for me . Guess I am getting old and deaf so I sold it .

QUOTE(h11g @ Jul 30 2013, 02:10 PM) bro you sold it off? yup QUOTE(shockk @ Jul 30 2013, 02:16 PM) There should be a noise-cancelling mic on the XZU, right? So even in noisy background, the earpiece should be quite good in performance. Haven't tested it myself but will check on it once I get my XZU. Yup , got the option . However , that is for me to speak and the other party to listen clearer , am I right ? My problem is when the other party speaks , I cant really make out what is she/he talking unless i moved to somewhere quieter . . Anyway , that option is ticked so I ran out of options 2 increase the volume unless it can be rooted and I can mess around with the build.prop . Till then , better let it go .

QUOTE(plasmapuff @ Aug 1 2013, 10:46 PM) First you need root. - very easy, safe and easy to reverse if required. First thing I do for any device I buy. So useful - Adblocker, Titanium back up and many other cool apps. This is as an aside to custom ROMS Then install Xposed framework - very simple just an apk. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401Then install whatever modules you want. The one for tweaking app DPIs (you can tweak each one like Paranoid Android) is called App Settings. http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/Android/Xposed/Modacco also has a collection of modules under their one toolkit. http://www.modaco.com/topic/361634-xmod-mo...osed-framework/Very easy to do if you have root. I run Chrome on 213 DPI (tablet) and also for PDF readers too. You see more on the screen - something I'm hoping the 1080p screen will help (means you can make text smaller and still read it clearly). Also makes certain apps think you're running a tablet and it engages tablet UI - dual panes etc Any q) let me know As 1 forumer asked b4 , is there root ? If there is , please share

QUOTE(plasmapuff @ Aug 2 2013, 12:45 AM) No, not yet to my knowledge but Doomlord, a prominent developer for the XZ on XDA is confirmed to be getting one, so its only a matter of time This is another benefit for me for waiting for the XZU over the Mega 6.3 - more mod/XDA support. Feel free to try , dunno if it works or not but it's there . No longer using this phone http://www.oneclickroot.com/phone/sony-xperia-z-ultra/

QUOTE(jloi @ Aug 9 2013, 10:08 PM) ah Nice but announced on June 2013 also, same with Z Ultra. So probably Z Ultra announced earlier than this thus claim the world first FHD waterproof phone Maybe bro but there's also a earlier version , F-02E , launched in Feb but running on Tegra 3 . Also with FHD with IP58 rating . I dont recall ZU announced that early right ? Anyway , marketing gimmicks , what can we got to say .
