U can play with the normal contact lenses available from any optometrists. I've played with lenses since 1999, & only once I've had it came outta my eyes. Last month, when I played in the rain.Even then it was my fault initially, cause I had the lenses inside out. Other than that, it was perfectly safe.

Yesterday I had a game againts Sabah FC, very robust, fast players. During a one-on-one ball the attacking player had his knee or boots to my head, ended up with a good size lump on my forehead. Heheh... I only played the first half, was 0-0 when I left. Had to go back early.

Hmmm...I too had astig...but not really that serious(yet). But kinda problematic when playing at night especially when you're facing the light...But in my case I still can afford to take of my specs and play...

nowadays contact lenses are soft lenses, won't shatter in your eyes. the worst thing that could happen is dust/sand goes into ur eyes. i've high astig too and it has to be custom ordered. a bit more expensive. 6 pairs would cost about Rm250. as i only wear for sports 1 pair could last me 2 months.

for those who are shortsighted, try it and feel difference. after i started wearing contacts, i earned callups for friendlies. before that couldn't judge ball properly especially playing in the evening. at times when i was already dark i just raised my hand hoping the ball will hit my hand.

Speaking about shoes, do you fellow goalkeepers invest on high quality shoes? For me I don't...in fact I think I invested more on gloves rather than shoes. When I buy my shoes I insist on the durability, in fact I prefer those stitched sole because it's durable. Oh yeah comfort is also important...Never spend much on shoes...

Both are equally important, but maybe for goalies U dun have to go for those all fancy2 boots, although I know some keepers (who aren't sponsored) uses fancy boots like Puma v1.06/3.06, Lotto Zhero G, etc. I guess if U have the money then it's okay.

I've been using my Adidas Salvador SG for almost 2 years now, & I've already had it stitched twice. I dun think it can survive a third stitching. My other boot, Umbro Bronze SSG (6 studs) are strictly for muddy pitches or really good pitches only. I always buy past-season stuff, outdated designs but really good boots. Example, my Adidas Salvador was RM499, but I bought it for RM99.00 only. I guess after this I'm going for the Nike Total 90 in Sunway Pyramid, used to cost RM600++, now it's less than RM200. That's my way of saving money la.

Gloves, I always go for the best I can afford, currently I have 4 pairs, going for another 2 pair (Adidas Fingersave E4S, and Puma's v3.06).

I went to Al-Ikhsan Sunway Pyramid today and I saw this really cool Nike Total 90 Classic which is almost all black except for some red lines and the nike logo. It has black palm which is almost similiar to Paul Robinson's gloves when he use during the world cup. It's kinda cool ya know...

And a new line of Adidas shoes came in too, one of them is the new Adidas Predator design which is almost all black too...Kinda cool if you wore that gloves and that shoes together with an all black clothes...will try get the photo and show you guys

All black huh ? Just make sure Ur not playing in the sun with an all black outfit ok tongue.gif tongue.gif

Almost all my outfit are blue, blue jersey, shorts, socks, shinpads, even boots. However I do have different color jerseys & I always bring at least 2 jerseys to every match, just in case the opposing team is wearing the same color.

I've seen the T90 classic, there are 2 colorways, another one is blue/white. I guess if Ur playing futsal it's a good choice, it'll also make a great training gloves. I think it's around RM79.90.

A better bet would be the new Tiempo Grips (or Tiempo Match). The cost has gone up a bit, now it's RM119, used to be RM110. Nothing much changed from the original Tiempos, except for new cosmetics. The palm remained the same, 3mm supersoft. I saw Penang's Super League reserve keeper using the T90 Spyne (with finger protection), wonder where he got those. & I'd also love to see the one Lehmann & Valdes using now in Malaysian stores (dun put much hope though).

If U go to Al-Ikhsan, look for Lotto's Neo-concept. It's Petr Cech's previous gloves, excellent glove for around RM70. It's really a bargain.

Hmmm..speaking about Lotto gloves...I'm currently using this Lotto Cross Elite. It cost RM69 at Al Ikhsan, and I could daresay for it's price it's quite good and durable. It offers excellent wrist protection, and the palm surface is durable too.

And the nike T-90 classic.

And I just couldn't resist getting the T-90 classic. I would say, it's the most comfortable gloves i've worn so far.(my first Nike gloves). The bad side is the cleaning part though, since it's all black I wouldn't know how dirty it actually is tongue.gif

Actually mx, I noticed that your kicking needs some work; if you don't mind me saying so. Futsal goalies do alot more than just goal tending. There's a higher dependency on the goalie to be able to switch play to attack than in field football.

Therefore; ensure the shoes you wear can help develop your technique as what you do with the ball is as important as the saves you make. I had some pretty nice shoes that I wore out very fast. But it offered terrific feel with the ball.
