dang, ever since the latest update, my PVR box is behaving erratically

there's lag in changing of channel via the numeric pad
eg: when i want to switch to 443, sometimes the first number didn't show on screen but it's registered, so actually end up pressing 444 doh.gif
then have to try a few times again to get the timing right

then sometimes my PVR will reboot automatically in the middle of the show, have to wait for a minute or 2 before can watch again doh.gif

anybody experience these also after the new EPG update? hmm.gif

Kinda reluctant to call Astro for this, as most likely they'll just ask me to replace the PVR decoder to the latest one, and I got tonnes of backlogged records in the PVR that I haven't watch doh.gif

I have the automatically reboot problem as well. So far has experience it twice. Watching a show and then suddenly the screen goes blank.

And also I noticed there's a bug with recording as well. It will stop recording in the middle of the show sometimes therefore some of the show I recorded are only halfway -.-"

Mine is pace pvr.

After much learning on how to bypass HDCP, this is my current setup

It's easy to record shows directly to the PC, altho a 1 hour 1080i show (for example this is COSMOS) is around 4++GB

Usually I reencode it back to get lower filesize

I have found somewhat a solution to the problem of changing channels.

What i found out is, to avoid the problems occuring, instead of pointing the remote directly to the decoder in the normal way, with the front of the remote pointing to d decoder, turn d remote sideways with the side facinj the decoder.

Well it works 4 me. Please dont bash me if it doesnt work 4 any of u. The update was a bit too canggih maybe?

Any news whether astro plan to give anymore news channels in HD?

My guess is it's due to the lack of RAM on the Pace PVR decoder to handle the new EPG that cause it to reboot by itself out of nowhere. Cos this kinda thing happens to PC and smartphones as well. Just my guess la. This new EPG in Pace decoder is like having a iOS7 in a iPhone 4 biggrin.gif Tested my friend's Samsung PVR and it's so smooth.

Does anyone knows how to force update astro decoder to the latest firmware version?
*
Here's I did on my Byong Pace decoder. First power off ur decoder. Power on it until u saw "Boot" appeared in LED screen. Press "power" button then " ch+" button continuously until u saw the update screen appear...

I tried above after the update... my Astro GUI still the same...

Atleast it has its replacement channel, unlike the axed beTV HD. Until now, still no replacement for it. Maybe they should bring SET HD instead.

1 - Get a HDMI capture card. For me I got the Avermedia C027 DarkCrystal HD Capture Pro
2 - Bypass HDCP from Astro.
-- Easy way = get a HDMI splitter that can get rid of HDCP (example: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HXFAR...?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
-- Tricky way = Hacked EXE (can only use this EXE to record) or hacked driver (can use any software to record)
3 - ????
4 - PROFIT!
