Dear sifus, wondering if :

1. This industrial thinner is safe for cleaning airbrush?
2. This spray can safe to be used on gunpla?

Feedbacks much appreciated. 🤗🤗🤗

1. So far no problem using random industrial thinner for cleaning but be aware if your airbrush have rubber O-ring since it would eat that.

2. I only have some experience with Anchor one and it seem to work well. You can just test with random plastic runner to see if it eat it. Just make sure to not put thick coat on it.

The O-ring is found where the nozzle cap meets the body right?

I'll be using the thinner to clean the paint cup, needle, nozzle cap, and to spray out all the paint inside the body only. Won't be using thinner to wipe the body. Safe?

Hi, you may try to search 'Cktan Plamodel shop' located at Brem Mall, Kepong. It had a wide range of acrysion paint and other equipment. Price is ok too.

Yes, a very small O-ring also can be at nozzle itself too, and some airbrush had it at back cap meets the body also.

it should be safe if just clean the cup, needle, nozzle cap and nozzle. and spray out the paint.

Hi sifu, if you, which brand/kind of paint will you use/mix to achieve the gold like below?

tried mr color gold, its too dark and brown
tired mr metal color gold, its too light and 'white'

besides, do u top coat on metallic or metal paint? gloss, flat, semi?
if gloss, it will become shine and feel so toy.
if flat?
if semi?
if no topcoat, it really oxidize and affect the paint after long time?

Attached Photo is from internet.

My 2 cents, paint with a base of gloss black then silver, then finish with a layer of clear yellow mix with gold Color.

Hi Sifus,

Did my first mistake of top coating my gunpla almost evening time today now my gunpla looks "frosted", did my first top coat two days ago but successful since it's hot outside and I put the can under the hot sun for 15 mins prior to spraying

But today got impatient so spray and learned my lesson

Any ideas how to de-frost the topcoat? I've read some people said to defrost just top coat one more time when the weather is nice and sunny

Need Sifus kind advice

If you if it's acrylic top coat, I think alcohol and thinner should be able to remove, but depends on what paint under it, it may eat away the paint too. I once top coated using glossy acrylic and realized I had to remove some of it, so I just used mr colour thinner and it removed it just fine, along with the paint under it

Hi all, for those looking for affordable yet veryuseful DIY gunpla tools, you can seek in DIY store which cost:
Tweezer: RM1.40
Polishing tool file: RM5.19 for 6pcs (different shape)
I tried as good as other premium grades. Why pay more while DIY store do have tools for gunpla.

Sifus, I'm trying to pick up some stuff for weathering as well as for matte coating. Can I know what is the usual color you guys use for weathering? I heard silver is an overall OK color? But I wanna ask around a bit.

And i see a lotta diff methods, e.g. paint brush, burning with toothpick even saw one using spray can. Was wondering what you guys use

Airbrush or compressor? If you're a beginner, try getting a relatively cheap one.... learn what to do and what not to do to an airbrush. Once you got a hang of it and know how to take better care of an airbrush then can consider better brands.

I've used brandless airbrushes for quite a while and my results were very good until I needed to do something precise or high gloss....

Sorry. Yeah, the compressor brand. It didn't able to adjust the pressure I think. It's around 18-22psi most of the cheap model.

You mean something like this ?

if yes, then it's usable...just that when you wanna do something much complex like gloss/candy finish, you'll hit some limitations....the air pressure is inconsistent and it gets hot quite fast. But it's not too bad for beginners..

Yeah it does the job. But it will have limitations once you have more experience.
