hmm after some tinkering outside my usual tone, I found that the Boutique OD has a pretty kickass metal tone, except that it's lacking gain.

tempted to buy a cheap behringer OD pedal to boost the gain to turn it into uber goodness.

in reviews, they said the behringer blues OD performed just as good as its boss counterpart if not slightly better

however, the others didnt really manage to perform as well.... =/

I did an A/B with the SD-1 and Blues Driver and I much prefer the Blues Drive... not sure how it fares as a booster lar, but the sound's definitely warmer and packs more gain (To my ears). thumbup.gif

hmm. maybe I should try a SD-1 and then try and find a blues driver and compare the tone.. who knows I could force a metal tone out of the blues driver. brows.gif

Haha... anyway since you have started listening to stuff like Floyd and Straits... you know damned well you're about to leave the metalhead group... tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Anyway I think I have a clip of somebody boosting his amp with a Behringer pedal... and it sounded pretty good. Have to dig that clip first tho.

EDIT : Found... UGPM nerd.

SD-1 has a pre-eq'd sound
made to be more trebly

=/

That's the OD/DS clip heh... quite impressive for the bloody cheapo pedal, not sure if it has anything to do with the pups, but your SDs are pretty good too. thumbup.gif

The effects are far cry from sounding decent... though I kinda like the reverb and delay, both are pretty usable effects imo. Chorus, tremolo and rotary are alright I guess, but I still prefer to use the ones on Magicstomp... overall they're just the icing on the cake imo, the main attraction of the AD is the tube-like tone it could produce heh.

One thing tho, the amp would sound pretty muddy when the strings go black. sad.gif And I sweat a lot, so much that I doubt anything can prevent that... sad.gif
I'm not sure if the same could be said with other modeller amps.

really? i dont think its only subject to this amp, cause when strings go black, generally our tone will lose abit of brightness and clarity. but if u play a tele, i'm getting bright sharp stuff all the way. biggrin.gif

yeah..change strings la... rolleyes.gif expensive..i know... rolleyes.gif

I don't know... I just don't notice the effect on my old SS amp lol... Then again, it shows that the Vox is transparent... maybe...

Change strings? I just changed mine! And just after few hours of playing it turned black!!! Anyway, I notice that the Ernie Ball strings turn black faster than D'Addario, so I think I'm gonna stick to that... it's so hard to get gauge 11 strings. sad.gif

Yeah... but I have an impression that Ernie Ball sounds brighter and clearer... could be my mind doing the trick.

Yeah... it's pretty uncommon to get gauge 11 onwards strings over here. sad.gif
