ya.. no scam.. always credibility of manpower agency is in doubt as they treat all candidates CV as a ticket for commision.. no follow up..  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi guys, regarding getting my foot in the door: between a mudlogger and field specialist/technician, which of these two would provide for a more successful transition to a drilling engineer position, given that I have a petroleum engineering degree? Have you heard of this happening and is it highly dependent on work performance?

thanks for the reply meonkutu! you meant MWD/DD for specialist right? And apparently mud engineer is a completely different job compared to mudlogger, I just found this out recently too.

Wonder if anyone coming from subsea construction engineering side? aka technip, subsea7, eni saipem are examples of contractors who does those stuff. I have got some questions regarding career progression within this area of expertise.

I am currently considering if i should switch to projects side of this industry rather than staying in technical part. Technical is intensive and challenging at times but u'd get old doing evrything over and over again, whilst projects side u get to deal with budget, timeframe, writing operational/construction procedures etc. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

What do you all think of British Petroleum? Anything in particular that is great or downright bad with it?

Thanks!

Mudlogger is basically towards the Mud Logging line. You start with sample catcher, then mud logger than Data eng. Field Specialist (FS) differs from Field Eng (FE) in the sense FS is for technician background while FE is for Engineering Degree graduate. But, I have seen some engineer graduate prefers to take up the FS post as they usually offer better daily rate. FS & FE can be applied to any scope (MWD, Completion, Fishing etc). To be DE, you can start from anywhere, as long as you can gain as much knowledge as you can, because DE is the lowest position of the career path structure. Some experience field hands who became DE might join as a senior DE or maybe start from a higher grade DE.

Like the above posted mentioned, Scopetel is a good place to start.

Emerson does employ telecom. majors too as they provide DCS integration services, with platform telecommunications network included as part of their scope.

Bartec Vodec specialises in PA/GA systems, so they're worth looking at as well.

I suppose subsurface service companies including Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes and Weatherford do employ quite a number of people coming from electronics engineering backgrounds and I doubt majoring in telecom. will harm your chances with them. Give it a go with them.

Thanks bro, going through all the above mentioned companies webpages... smile.gif

Guys sorry to intrude, don't know where-else to ask. From what I know is that on Nov 21-22 in UTM, O&G Festival 2013 is happening, major O&G players will be attending.

But what I want to confirm is that has anyone heard about SapuraKencana having a walk in interview on Nov 23 in Thistle Hotel JB? Asking here cause not sure if rumor or true. Thanks.

I'm a fresh grad from Electrical background trying to dive into O&G field. Currently in Semicon Manufacturing field.

Hello, I have my geology degree in 2011. I applied for mud logger position in Schlumberger and was interviewed in April. Unfortunately, I did not succeed in the interview. Does anyone know what other companies also have mudlogger position in Malaysia?

Right now, I am desperate to get in the field I studied in. It has been 2 years since graduation and still zero experience in geology. It seems like a waste of time and money with this degree. I am taking other unrelated jobs just to survive.

pls look for construction geology engineering firms. does not necessary o&g.
also opportunities in certification bodies but require extensive experience and certain certifications.

it is needed to the extend to spoon feed if you just looking for 1 Schlumberger only or/and other a few only, as a degree holder.
