ok ah. my last job have to insp the welds on some pipelines.
in order to get to the welds, the insulation needs to be removed, scaffold needs to be ready.

and the client marah2 the inspection team why cant do it yet?
and i showed the isometric, they cant even locate where the scaffold and insulation removal should be.

you see? they are the one who should handle this kind of preparations. they should ask the scaffold guys and insulator guys to get it done. they dont even know what are they supposed to do.

i am the one who traced the welds and report to their boss. its like im doing their job. and yet they ask stupid questions over and over again. doh.gif

Hi,

I just wanna ask why is geoscience students are so hard to get an internship placement in Malaysia? I'm gonna have my internship next year and most of the O&G companies I've called don't have vacancy that related with this course.

Geoscience is a specific area of study and only certain companies (E&P companies that handles upstream activities) usually have Geoscientists so target your requests to those companies

1. Operators (Petronas, ExxonMobile, Shell, Talisman, Petrofac, SapuraKenchana (now that they have taken Newfield assets), Murphy etc.
2. Service Providers such as Schlumbergers, Halliburtons, Western Geco, CGG-Veritas, Jason, Paradigm etc etc
3. Mudlogging companies etc etc

Technip and Aker will be under service providers (like SLB) but more specifically for the engineering side of things. Aker & Technip does not have the subsurface aspects of the E&P business (other than the subsea engineering aspects) and therefore they will not have Geoscience unit or Petroleum Engineering unit.

Ahh this is new to me. I guess they needed to diversify their business. Aker is not well known to have a Geoscience Unit.

And the smart card issue. The bosiet cert is with my previous company. So is it still okay to use it? I mean... The smart card was registered under that company. Wouldn't that be a problem?

Of course many internships now so that those companies can save a lot of money paying those interns lowly while the interns do get high workload

If your next company is rich they can send u to new bosiet and offshore medical n u can keep the certs. As long your current bosiet date and medical date have not expired u can use the smart card under old company name

I don't have my certs with me. So have to go bosiet lagi la? Of course my current company now can pay but if I left within 3 years, I have to pay them back for that. Trying to avoid that.
