QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Jan 13 2014, 12:53 AM) I believe most smartphones nowadays do support data sharing aka hotspot. I know lots of people buying the WiFi only model of tablets to save money as they know they could tether straight from their phone without the need of multi SIM cards ya but tethering does lead to battery drain and heat if activated for long period. Unless u go for a big capacity battery phone(eg Lenovo P780) or carry around bulky powerbank.

Dear Sifus,
In the market for a 10 inch android tablet for my mum. What's the best tablet out of the box? Need wifi only, it's for my mum, so no tinkering (root + flash). Currently have my eye on the Samsung tab 3, are there any other tablets that are better this?
Many thanks in advance

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Jan 13 2014, 12:16 PM) Budget? you sure your mom want 10inch? Budget around 1k - 1.6k.Cheaper the better , but most importantly hassle free as no one is around to help her troubleshoot. She does not want an Ipad. Have bought her a Note 2 previously but said would prefer larger screen, common use would browse email, surfing, youtube, skype, and watch TED. Thanks

Thanks Maybe you can bring her go try the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 or Tab 3 8.0 before going to Tab 3 10.1 inch model. Because 8 inch is more easier to carry around. Should be above model also under your budget range

But for what I know is, at that budget only capable to buy 3G+Calls of China tablet. if not, local brand only able to get smartphone.

I doubt that we can get one from the mainstream brands at that budget. Any recommendations?
