Thanks for the clear and detail info. Yes, if already make decision to purchase, don't look back and just enjoy your device. Whatever device will eventually drop price, if already decided to purchase and need to get it immediately then don't look back. If can wait, then just wait until "cannot wait" ahahaha.

For this 1020, I can only say:
The main target should be the predecessor, the Nokia 808 PureView Customers. They should grab these customers so that they STAY with Nokia. These customers are not WP users, does Nokia-Microsoft want the customer's to TRY and switch to Lumia series PureView?
If these customers somehow jump to another platform, Nokia just lost their customer base,... just like how they did when they switch to WP and looses a lot of their Symbian Customers (that's also one major reason why Samseng become successful; majority of their customers are from Nokia)
Now is the time they need to grab more customers into their Lumia series, in terms of Camera features, the Z1 is marketing it and the Galaxy S4 Zoom (of course this is bulky); If the customers didn't choose Lumia because of the price, Nokia-Microsoft just lost potential customers again.

Another important factor is, for those people who just 'switch' platform, say from Symbian, iOS, BB, etc. Imagine if the chosen the Android alternative because of 1020 pricing. Once they 'started' the new platform, they setup their 'accounts', they start to invest/downloads their apps and customize their Androids.
It's even harder for them to switch to WP next time, especially for those who started investing into apps/games; switching platform means their purchases all goes to waste because they have to 'start over' at WP platform.
I wonder if Nokia-Microsoft realizes this important criteria? I inform Nokia's staff before about this importance since WP7, but not sure if it reaches which level.

one things, smartphone market different from pc market....if you use android now, does not mean u will use forever and most users will change phone within 1-2 years some even fast....

regarding investment of apps/games, i heard ios7 some developer will charge again the app u have brought for ios7....mean the app u bought in ios6 and below cannot use in ios7, u need to buy again for the app which newer version for ios7....

is logic to do that....developers also need to makan and support u, cannot be u buy one app for rm3 support u forever. if they don't update, another competitor will makan their customer...if keep update and support, how to earn for living...

for games lagi fast...once u brought it and play for sometimes, sure u will never play it again...do u still play the games in pc that released 2002/2003?

Well, there's something you can do. Teach them a lesson by not buying. When sales drops, inventory costs go up and they will suffer a blow when the next batch comes in. They will be forced to play nice with their pricing.

In the end, it's the end users who have the say. So, vote with your wallet.

I'm planning to do that - Currently On Strike until I cannot tahan or until I see reasonable price drop.

You? Getting one on Pre-Order/Nokia Store on 27/09?

that time new model coming out...so u will big heart small heart...

that's y i don't buy new model, get previous flagship model in more reasonable price...

let's say i buy 925 now and if ms say it release wp9 in 2015 with minimum 1gb ram to support but heavy features require 2gb ram...that time i also change phone liao...why care 925 support or not....

and those buy low entry with 512mb ram, don't complain if wp9 don't support it...if support also most new features won't be there...this is the trend, even u install to ios7 in iphone 4 also slow and many new features not supported...

Seriously, im on the bridge between all phone OS platform selections. I willing to spend 2k+ between note3,iphone5s or lumia 1020.

I born with nokia symbian till windows 7.5 to 7.8 then currently using android juz for 1 month..

Yesterday I just play with my friend Ios 7 for 3 hours to check the ios7 been practical or not for my usage.

In the end, i still think windows phone is still better phone for fast access to all my daily needs as business phone, and windows OS give me closer feel to engage with people easily (connected to people) compare to android.

What's make me keen to get lumia 1020 is the camera technology and hardware. the windows OS is still not mature, example the notification bug. u juz open and close ur email app with 10 notifications and it assume u read all of it.

Its not major issue to me, even the marketplace is not an issue because I getting a phone for what its does best, camera functions and as business phone. not going to use for gaming.

Btw u quite noob at least iphone 4 can install os7 like I said user have a choice.

When 7.5 to win8phone u dont have a choice u cant even upgrade except of buying a new one. Only poor ppl do what you do. This fool here talking about bloody 2015 wth when windows phone 7.5 to 8 obsolete within a year or two.

Maybe your phone dont support castle clash but go try it out the developers are so smart they design it so well and exciting they make you want to buy in app purchase eventually. So kindly up your research and knowledge.

I don't like 925, in case anyone wonder.

I even saw someone selling theirs Used L920 Red @Lowyat Trading for about RM850 with a few months warranty left. Reasonable, I thought.

I've bought mine from mudah.my at about RM1,000 back in few months ago, the phone was still in it's pristine stage, no sign of any wear too I asked the owner why did he wanted to sell it off after 2 weeks of usage, he said he can't adapt WP8. laugh.gif (but it has now been a minor scratch on the screen since I don't apply any SP since day 1, no big deal)

For price to change, like any other smartphones (except iPhone) will face price drop (every 3 months) from my experience.

Is it worth it for current WP8 owners to upgrade to 1020? Let's see, (in my opinions)

+ You have never own a Lumia device before.
+ You want to test the superiority of ZEISS lens
+ You're going to print the photos out.

again, the only thing why I would change for 1020 would be lossless crop zoom(limited) and better bokeh, that's it.

Sure it's cool to see all those 41mp resampled photos uploaded to social networks but to be honest, nobody really cares. (Unless you have a lot of Lumia friends)

@Weirdguy, 920 is a very capable shooter itself if:

+ On a budget
+ Likely to change phone every year

Get 1020 if,

+ Taking really decent photos is your priority.
+ Decides to replace PnS/Mirrorless/DSLR with a one hand operated camera.
+ Always have to help wife carry shopping bags during travel. whistling.gif

tongue.gif Hi Sean, i forget to tell u, I love taking photo.. the only drawback of lumia camera function is the aperture setting, it is fixed, compare to galaxy s4 zoom.

I not sure if 925 have the full Manual camera setting like 1020, if it does, then i need think twice whether i need spend addtional RM1,000 for the 41mp and I not sure if the quality is better than my canon 550D dslr..

The 1020 is not supposed to take better, sharper pictures than your DSLR. Remember, the best camera is the one you have on you and the 1020 is supposed to be that camera which you have on you all the time and delivers great results.

Make lots of sense, camera phone deliver results and should never replace the DSLR for photo assignments in terms of sharpness and raw file post-processing for big size printing works.

We can't choose 1020 because of camera, because xperia z1 is better than 1020. if we have to decide 1020, we have to love the windows ecosystem first then only the camera. hmmmmmm.. now im stepping backward from 1020 and moving toward 925.

Try avoid comparing a mobile phone and dslr. It can never replace your dslr. But for people dont like bulky size like dslr nokia 1020 is the alternative. Its the best in mobile phone but cant replace high end camera

yea.... some rich ass like you might have bought quite a lot of apps from app stores.
then learn that with the ability to upgrade to IOS 7. but the apps that you purchased earlier - you need to repurchase them all over again on IOS 7 cool2.gif
