thts y wanna know whether anyone is using 225/45/r17 and how's the comfort level for it..
the sidewall height for 225/45/r17 is taller compare to 215/45/r17

http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-C...45R17/225-45R17

cant comment much on the conti MC5 coz I feel the comfort level is not there.. but it's much better compare to my ori tyre, IINM silverstone..
*
Bro, the height difference is 5mm height, 4.5mm to be exact.

My opinion is that the 225 tire will not give you the comfort you are looking for. Seriously, do consider the 16".

yup.. this is what I been thinkin too.. the diff is too little..
but it looks a bit weird if putting in 205/55/R16.. guess it's either comfort or looks for the rim+tyre..
never tested others car with 215/45/r17.. wonder whether it will feel the same like forte or nt..
maybe the suspension setup also play a part on the comfort level..

I think zerohunter did change his rim to 16". He did post his picture. Does not look as good as 17" (my opinion) but the comfort I believe will greatly increase. Give and take.

I was driving my boss's Altis for one day and oh my, I regained memory on how these thick tyres work on pot holes. His tire is 16" with 55 profile. As this is boss's company car, apa lagi, testing la. Langar lubang like no tomorrow. Much much much more comfy. No longer needing to avoid holes like pleague. Vibration to cabin also very very less. So if want to change tire, can really consider the 16". Else, really need to look for real comfort tire. Performance affected pulak. No best of the both worlds.

Currently i am using 205/55/16 tyre and confirm 205/55/16 tyre is more comfort compare 215/45/17. Rim also wont be dent so easily....

cant do that for now.. I just change to a set of 17' rim few months bck..
3 of my ori rim got dented and the tyre shop told me forte ori rim is prune to this..

Change to 16" rims + 55 profile tires proves to increase driving comfort rather significantly (i did that). But somehow, it will still not feel as comfy as the suspension setup on Persona or Preve (as u mentioned) becoz Forte got sports tuned suspension to complement the stock 17" rims with low profile tires.

oh well, will stay with current setup for now till time to change it.. need to change tyre almost once every 1.5 yrs due to the daily travelling..

side track a bit.. whenever i release the accelerator, I'll feel that my car momentum is still moving very fast ahead..
something like the accelerator is still being pressed and the speed will decrease very slowly.. most of the time, I need to press the brake from a far..
I ask the question to the SC and they said it's normal.. something to do with drive by wire for the acceleration.. I can't really comprehend on this..
is this something normal?

It's normal. As long as the car doesn't consume fuel (when decelerating in top gear), it means that the car decelerating normally using momentum rather than powered by fuel (u can check the Instant Fuel Consumption meter for confirmation). U just need to get use to it..need to decelerate earlier. I did face the same thing when upgrading from Waja last time tongue.gif

if u wanna remain 17" rim, perhaps u can go for 205/50/17
i think more comfort with min affect to speedmotor reading

Yup, it is normal and it scared the h*ll out of me when I first upgrade from Saga to this. Just need to get used to it and brake earlier or harder at times. My brake pads are going to wear so fast.

Last time my saga I never change brake pads (front and back) in 5 years time. Somehow the rear wears faster than the front. The front is still very thick. I do not know how that happened. I did not use engine braking. I believe it is not good for gear box at that time.

i think yours 2.0 ? more powerful probably... smile.gif
but it doesn't sounds right if you already release and speed is not dropping. maybe you can track with a GPS also.

From his previous post, he did mentioned that the speed is decreasing, but not at his expecting decelerating rate as his previous car

You will need approximately 700m to decelerate from 100km/h to 30km/h after lifting off your right leg, without pressing on the brake. Tested it out from the point of 1km before toll, speeding at 100km/h.
