Do you know roughly how much tax for device like this?

QUOTE(FluffyTee @ May 3 2018, 02:29 PM)
I was told amazon now quotes the complete price at the end including the neccesary malaysian tax. It will be displayed before finalizing payment.

Which hmd r u intending to get?
*
Yes if you buy from sites like Amazon, it includes everything even the tax part of things. You'll get quotes of it and you pay it before hand. After it arrives no additional charges will apply.

So have you bought it bro?

last time i bought Oculus Rift with additional sensor was around RM2.4k from Amazon. Opp forgot not directly from amazon..it was through Uskoop e-concierge service..it was way cheaper compare direct from amazon..unfortunately that service was shutdown already sad.gif
.. But the Rift almost 10 month still working great no problem at all.

2.4k is a good deal. I think amazon would cost 2.7k myr wif 3rd sensor.
more so with steam support improving..

i think steamvr hardware survey shows oculus the majority now in Steam.

That is base on who participate the survey. Sale numbers should be the one you should look at.

Obviously its just a reference.. But the numbers was not as such previously. Also real numbers of rift may be higher as not all oculus rift users use steam.
The rise in rift users after its drop in price and not to far apart in performance from vive.
Htc vive poor customer service may also affect this.

So which hmd r u using?

Vive also has their own ecosystem as well just like Rift. But i'm pretty sure most uses Steam ecosystem rather than Rift or Viveport.
I'm not using either of them personally. But I've used both for an extended amount of time by just borrowing someone's for a few months.
Either Vive or Oculus is a fine pick anyway.

Im using the vive and lenovo explorer.
the Viveport is kind of a dead store. very limited choice and steam sells the same game cheaper too and can be shared with other devices like rift and wmr. i can say almost 90% vive users dont use viveport.
And SteamVR primary supports Vive for all VR apps. Rift and WMR support are optional for developers.
So its safe to say.. SteamVR = the ecosystem of vive.
the oculus rift store has more VR games than steam atm. although numbers are getting closer. some of us vive user use this addon called Revive to play oculus games.
WMR echosystem is <50? which majority already found on steam. Unlike Viveport which is optional to run, Microsoft WMR forces users to start in WMR app everytime headset is plugged in.

Amazon was having dc at $249 actually. Its more for portability and a 2nd head set for coop games.
Setup is pretty easy but needs a larger space to play. (It looses tracking then i get to near the wall/floor as it loses all reference points.)
But tbh tracking is wonky compared to vive. Resolution is sharper but the back light glow ruins allmost any dark scene.

Ill still pick vive anytime for gaming, despite the lower res.
I dont have rift but i believe rift has better tracking than wmr.

U interested in wmr tongue.gif

Those that bought vr headset oculus/wmr/vive from amazon how to deal with warranty if something happens during 1 year?

Can we ship it back to amazon instead of the manufacturer?

Before buying, should check if warranty fullfilled by amazon or not. Cost of repair probably quite high for us due to transport fee, but atleast got warranty and usually cheaper, unlike 3rd party reseller here.

Theres a month guarenttee where return cost would be by amazon, including taxes.

I think all the wmr seem to have a significant quality control. With the price cut off nearly by 50% bcoz of excess stock or high returns.
Reddit there is plagued with die hard religious fans of wmr that would downvote any negatives about wmr, even the legit ones.
I can tell u honestly wmr tracking is clumpsy.

actually why r u picking WMR?
For me, the only 2 reasons to choose WMR is cost or portability.

Resolution is definitely sharper but because they use fresnel lens, if ur IPD is further from their IPD (~63), ur clarity will be affected..
Also... if ur playing dark games.. ull definitely notice the obvious lcd glow which ruins the game.

if ur watching youtube reviewers... people like sebastion ang is paid by lenovo to promote. the real tracking is no where that good and he cuts scenes where his tracking goes haywire.
edit: is this gonna be ur first VR headset?

when possible u should get the HTC Vive or Oculus rift. those have more consistent performance.

playing on WMR is like playing on a half broken VR device..

Sebastion Ang is an actor and will hide the issues in his reviews. but if u look at his reviews on games using the lenovo explorer.. u can see some tracking issues.
https://youtu.be/IAQAcowSsEM?t=419 and also at 18:08.
from my experience. they tracking cannot track fast and fine movements.... they can also register false position as both controller uses same circular LED.
Sniping is also nearly impossible with WMR.

do u have rec room on psvr, i can show u how far the hand really tracks
