i using 2 sensors for room scale (top corner right, and bottom corner left)... is usable... maybe i can say 95% as good as 3 sensors... somewhat rarely have occlusion.

yup i test with 2 sensor before i attach the 3rd sensor.. still usable and you just turn around 360 occasionally

but actually if got extra money i prefer your friend buy the extra touch controller for additional $40 instead the sensor only because that the touch controller have the extra sensor also

i dont know how long this controller will last since few times hit the wall already biggrin.gif
and actually few people including me got issue with the finger sensor..after a month my virtual thumb doesn't move when u make thumbsup gesture.
but its a minor issue only and with a fix on the config file i push the sensor sensitivity more now works again

so for an extra $40 is a great bargain compare to Vive $100 per unit tongue.gif

Thanks for the advise. Was about to ask bout any major issues with rift too. Vive controllers are notorious with touch pad defect and/or squeeky controller after short use.. Bout 50% of the vive controllers are reported defective and even with warranty service may only solve the problem temporarily

Any major issue with rift on ur side?

Anyone backed Pimax 8K on Kickstarter?

I have a 8K X (limited 400 units worldwide), not sure want to cancel or not.

Wow. I only have Pimax 4K. Read that Pimax 8K surpassed $2 million on Kickstarter. What do you plan to use the Pimax 8K for?

I backed the 8k (non X) version, i rarely come onto the public forums on lowyat, i usually just buy/sell stuffs on the garage sale threads. My current job however is sooooo boring that i read too much lowyat forum and have decided to partake in the chats to kill time.

Both 8k and 8k X version have the same panel, but the 8k upscales from 4k (their definition of 4k and 8k is distorted but hey) and the 8k X runs the resolution natively, you should get on the pimax forums and check with them as i heard that 8k X backers have the option to get the 8k first and then return it for 8k X version which would be released later, provided you dont break or damage it.

personally i am using 2 x GTX980ti in SLI and not all games in VR support SLI, some of the very high profile ones like robo recall flat out dont support it and never mentions it in their marketing.

8k X is meant to run on 1080TI SLI for 90hz. so if you dont at least have that or prepared to dump cash immediately once the next gen cards are out, you need want to scale back. But i'm not sure if you can back out of your pledge as i had never tried it.

cool, I didn't cancel the 8K X at the end.
I have Titan X pascal and 1080.
I don't plan to play high speed game with 8K X so I hope Titan X pascal or 1080 can support 2*4k at 30fps or 60fps.
If not then I will upgrade to Volta or Ampere.

oopps ..haha i thought this thread is mati already biggrin.gif
btw about the touch controller, i just blow few time and suddenly ok.
Maybe just a dust on it not that serious.

Anyway my Rift after almost 9 month still working great no problem at all. Average used around 10 hours per week.
Just received $15 store gift from Oculus because of the downtime issue last week.
And the new Oculus Home 2.0 is great..it might not as open development as SteamVR home but more polish and slick

Here is some short clip on my virtual home blush.gif :

I don think there will be cheap 2nd hand atm. The price of vr headsets have dived to nearly 30-40% compared to last year.
Also there will be issue of lens scratches and controller scars...
Plus hygene is also an issue.
But i guess depends how tight of a budget u have.
U could get a windows MR for 1.5k wif controllers.

I was looking at oculus rift new set, which people is selling at around rm2300 now, however it seem Vive has more content, popularity and bigger fun experience, just the price is really turn off.

Price now should be around 2k only.. since it's like 500usd now instead of 600usd. Doubt a lot of seller selling at that price tho, but I do agree, just get the Vive, it's worth it.

Oculus has access to steamVR store aswell. It can access most of the apps.
But u must know Oculus rift is only 180 degree tracking unless u purchase the additional 3rd sensor. Wiring may be an issue as each camera needs to be connected to ur gaming rig via USB 3.0. Also not that Oculus runs a close system. They can kind of remotely disable ur oculus rift.

Vive on the otherhand is wireless except for the headset. but price is expensive(if im not wrong, its due to the lithium batteries in the controllers). Also note that vive has issues wif their defective controllers(but DIY repairable).

There are also the Microsoft MR headset and PS VR to consider.
My personal opinion, get either the Vive, Oculus Rift WITH 3rd sensor.
If ur on a tight budget, then u can consider windows MR hmds.

Experience in VR is incomparable to anything atm. I have the Vive and love it.

Atm the only official local VR headsets are PS VR (and gear VR)
i would recommend ordering one from amazon and pay the tax. Ordering from lazada or 11street would be the same but with the higher price and no warranty. The seller basically buys from amazon and resell it to us for a higher price

I was told amazon now quotes the complete price at the end including the neccesary malaysian tax. It will be displayed before finalizing payment.

Which hmd r u intending to get?
