Hmm. Well, I am looking to upgrade the MSATA inside the laptop anyway. Just need to check whether the msata is wired properly or if this is just some for show only.

I just upgrade mine Y500 with msata and SSD. Y500 got 2 port msata. 1 inside and another one beside the port of ultrabay. Malaysia set doesn't come with msata.  smile.gif

You are definitely wrong... btw msata is connector, not HDD/SSD, you can't upgrade msata.

You meant this one (highlighted in blue)..?

I opened my Y500 before and I don't see any connectors there apart from the WiFi card beside it... hmm.gif or maybe we can splice the mSATA connectors and add in a second one. brows.gif

Hi sifus i just bought y400 yesterday.. Whenever i play video/music that activates the speaker, a sharp pop sound can be heard and it sounds normal afterwards.. If i stop the video/sound for a few mins and replay it, the sharp pop sound can be heard again.. Is there any problem with the speaker hardware?

That's why I said you're wrong in the 1st place. that's ultrabay slot, not msata slot. There's only 1 msata slot. The one next to WIFI slot would highly be the mobile module for 3G/LTE card but not supported in SEA.

I'm not wrong for this jotaro12. U shud see for urself the port beside ultrabay port. Try to take out the GN36 and u can see the port there. Another msata port is actually beside the ULTRABAY port so if u having a modified GN36 or GN37. U can have two msata attached on Y500. Consider the heat from GN36, it's not practical to have the msata attached beside the ultrabay port. Still, wat use le to have two msata on laptop. Such a waste.

I think u misunderstand his word...==
that unsolder part which u say is the mobile module also can be as the mSATA connector if the data signal is flow to SATA host controller instead of PCI-express host controller...lol
Need test for that unsolder port, cannot say directly it's PCI-E mini card interface or the mSATA interface

And also the another mSATA port besides the ultrabay port for the external GPU one is for the HDD or ODD Ultrabay, Malaysia seem din sold these two ultrabay (dun know, need ask)
