Does anyone here have experience riding on the velodrome ?? Tried it for the very first time yesterday and managed to do a couple of laps. Was bloody hard work and felt really awesome, got dizzy after a while though lol .. where is your eye suppose to focus on when riding ?? directly in front of you ?? Managed a top speed of 40+km/h but only for two laps .. legs and lungs cursing me after that
btw this an outdoor track and not indoor This post has been edited by yolk: May 6 2013, 11:42 AM |

Looks like the TT caused the most damage to Sky's rivals.

TT is wiggins strength... TTT is not Sky's main strength...
but the TT heavy giro is also the reason wiggins is willing to give giro a go rather than the tour... |

QUOTE(Mac Wai @ May 6 2013, 11:45 PM) still to early to do anything yet...as long as the main gc players are within 30secs of each other, they should be safe furthermore there is no point taking the lead so early on... the team has to carry the burden in defending the jersey so early and waste their energy |

QUOTE(butthead @ May 7 2013, 01:52 AM) sram recommends holding a something like a buble level on the bottom of the drop and the brake lever tip jus touches the gauge... lemme find the vid tmr...remember it is on utube i believe the mechanic set it up wrongly which is not to my fitting, and I guess your explanation is spot on. I've felt my arm is extending further to the front when riding on the hood which cause discomfort, and I started to think how it could possibly be as my stem length is the same. Now I know why.but the shifter can be run very high... depending on how you like it... tilting it up so much comprimises brake lever reach on the drops...while tilting it too low causes pain in joints... google some berty pics and you can see how he or armstrong position their shifters which is quite high some people like it low so the top of the handlebar extends out onto the lever The thing is, I can't rest my wrist on the drop as it is now not flat enough to hold all my bodyweight on the drop (now it's a bit slanted so my wrist a bit cocked up). Adjusting the handlebar angle will make my shifter too low, hence the question of how high I can position the shifter up so I can have my drop level. |

the video from sramtech is no longer available... i think they removed it and replaced it with the new red shifter set up...
but the ruler method is actually not as good if you like your shifter tilted up... the ruler method is a sort of middle ground where your reach for the brake levers from the drops is well covered while the shifter is not tilted up so much...again, what bars you use affects a lot on how the shifter transition feels from bar to hood.. for a lack of examples.. ![]() contadors shifter setup... tilted quite high (the bike is propped up from the back, so the shifter looks very level) ![]() andy schleck's setup... from the days of saxo and sram...he prefers his shifter more lower and forward... but he also uses a shallow drop while contador is more on a compact i believe... ![]() a better comparison of their shifter height side by side (not quite side by side, but pretty close) ![]() perspective wise hard to gauge... but boonen's setup is also pointing the shifter quite forwards... i guess contador likes his shifter that way because it is an easier reach for him as he uses the hoods quite a lot both in and out of saddle... for your case... i think you have to adjust the bars to where you like it... especially the drops where you hold them..and then unwrap your bar tape and move the shifters up further and re-wrap again... a bit trial and error until you get it dialed in...
