*nod nod* it might start out a lil more expensive here before they think of phasing out the iBooks.

Q2 sounds like mid-2006 to me. rclxm9.gif

i thought they said the adobe applications ran betta on the powerbook in comparison to the macbook pro.. huh.gif something bout Adobe not tweaking the applications suited for the new Intel-Mac products yet.

anyway, if all you're gonna do is graphic work like photoshop etc.. i suppose the macbook would be a good investment compared to the ibook. just don't hope to do much gaming on the onboard gfx. tongue.gif

powerbooks are soon to be phased out. macasia's website removed them liao.

how different is the new macbook's keyboard in comparison with the ibook..?

QUOTE(Deadman.Inc. @ May 18 2006, 04:56 PM)
Macs are priced the same everywhere in the country, with only very very minimal discount given by individual reseller - so don't have to think too much, just buy from the shop you had the best talk with biggrin.gif Apple's warranty is not provided by Apple Malaysia, instead it's a worldwide warranty that works the same everywhere in the world. So if you buy yours in Malaysia and one day (within the warranty period) it throws tantrum just send it to the nearest Apple Store/Shop, KL or London.

Agreed. Get it from a reseller that offers great customer service. smile.gif

well, reasons for Applecare plan purchase afaik..

- extended warranty just incase.
- warranty is international so any country with an Apple centre will help you.
- when you sell 2nd hand and u have the plan, u fetch a slightly better price.

that's that i guess..

btw this macbook 1.8ghz
can play WOW on full resolutions without any lags?
and bootcamp to winxp? since i got some appls i need to use only on WinXP
will it be enough power?
since i know is on a GMA gfxcard
so if i adds more rams it will helps too?
*
lag of a game doesn't always have something to do with your machine..but an article once said for RPGs, more RAM is good and of course, a better gfx card.

overall, i'd try replacing the 2 sticks of 256 to a stick of 512 if I can. Or if i have the money, chuck a 1GB in straight away. tongue.gif

I agree with fly. I read a review my friend passed to me of this guy in the US that's tested the MacBook. One of the cons he listed was the heat problem on the MacBook.

afaik, Mac portables have always had a heat issue at the bottom because of the battery. but now since it's the cpu.. it's bad.

The macs used to run hot at first around the battery area.. then now there's the thing of heat due to excessive use of thermal paste on the processor or something like that..

but i think it's just coz Intel's are warm..

QUOTE(Apple Insider)
It remains unclear whether Apple will refresh both notebook lines simultaneously, or if it will hold off the introduction of updated 13-inch MacBooks in order to reduce inventories of Core Duo processors.

argh! one of the things I really don't like. LOL!

there's a great bargain running now for MBs but with the skepticism now of the MB line getting a Core 2 Duo by the XMas holidays, it's difficult to make a buying decision. sad.gif

I'm satisfied as long as Apple updates the product line before Spring Break comes around.  I want my Apple MacBook Pro ordered and shipped to me during Spring Break. >_<

Urm, if you were expecting really light. Carry a notepad and a pen. tongue.gif

When shopping for a mobile desktop or notebook (one is for heavier duty), you should realize by now that lighter notebooks have some weaknesses to them in terms of features.

Sure, technology is shrinking and slimming things but by some manufacturers takeaway things some find more useful and important just to cater to this market.

So if you really want to find something light to carry around all the time, sell the MacBook and get an ultra-light notebook PC. smile.gif

I need a QUICK answer coz ordering my MacBook today..

does running on dual channel have a significant jump in performance..?

especially compared to a MB with 1GB + 256MB ram?

Urm.. am not so sure if this is correct place to put this up but I guess it should be. tongue.gif

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Recently my gf gave me an xmas presie and I got a Keyboard Shield for my MB. Previously I was using a clear transparent one but as you know, sweaty hands and such can leave a mark on your beautiful white mobile machine.

Well, with this Keyboard Shield now I don't have to worry because it protects my keyboard and my wrist area. rclxms.gif

Here are some pictures to show you the thing.

p.s: I'm not a promoter working for them. I just thought it'd be nice for MB owners to know about this. smile.gif

p.p.s: Bought it at Ascend Zone in The Curve, 2nd Floor.
