That's the reason why I refused to switch from UniFi to Maxis after they pestered me to do so at least 3 times via phone calls and while I was in a Maxis Centre. I have anticipated such things will come sooner or later at the first place.

my unifi also buffering youtube... Maxis ride on TM on most location (only different VLAN) which the last mile is on TM... expecially apartment it is TM hardware... so I guess the congestion begins...

The YouTube buffering is nothing to do with the congestion at the apartment equipment. In the case of TM, popular video clips from YouTube are cached in a local server & then loaded from it, which more or less guarantees smooth playback. But if you play a video which is not cached, then you are likely to get the buffering problem as it needs to load it directly from YouTube servers. This seems more like routing issue or international bandwidth issue.

Eh, Maxis Fibre Internet is fine. You can even use more modern ASUS and TP-LINK routers instead of their horrible one. I have no complaints about their Internet so far.

However... if you subscribed for Astro IPTV also... no help for you.

i just read the first thread, stated that we're not allow to change the DNS server, using the TG784 v3 router. if i currently replaced the router to custom router (Dlink -DIR850L) and i had stated a google dns while connecting.. will this method works? or it remain the same as Maxis DNS?

If you subscribe to Astro IPTV, everything has to go through Astro customer service, and that takes a long time.

Also, Astro IPTV does not work very well with any other router except Maxis-provided POC router. No Channel Guide, sometimes remote control got lag, every time power-cycle the Astro STB, you have to do some voodoo to get everything working again.

And Astro refuses to give any help for using other routers except Maxis-provided. So, no help.

Probably not the modem issue but the router issue, and depends also on whether you using P2P (Maxis might throttle).

Change the DNS on your PCs, then no issues. Your own router, you can set up your own DNS. But for sure if using VOIP and IPTV you will have issues.

Just noticed the same thing too. Seems like a lot of extra stuff inside now. Notably on the "Broadband Connection" tab. Added stuff like eMGMT, eBTV, and eVoIP. Anyone has any ideas what it does?

2 days ago the maxis technician remotely updated my technicolor TG784n v3 to version 10.2.7.4 variant CC after I complaint about slow speed. So far so good, and there is a new starting summary page which shows at a glance info including my Astro IPTV connection.

Hi guys, I'm thinking of switching from UniFi to Maxis FTTH.

Can anyone advise me further?

1) Installation fee, any promo to waive off?
2) Can Maxis use the existing TM fiber cables?
3) Any P2P throttling? If yes, what are the solutions to bypass?
4) Any HTTP downloads throttling? (I have AllDebrid so I need to know)
5) Any other information/tips I should know about Maxis fiber?
