Maxis & TM guys came to my house to install even though I've cancelled my appointment. Postponed to May.

So I took the opportunity to ask them the installation cost.

The Maxis guy told me it would be minimum RM450 while the TM guy who came an hour later quoted me RM700.

I live in a semi-d, going to put the modem upstairs in the upper living room by the window. And the green box is 10m from my house.

1) Is this correct?

2) Is it at least RM450?

3) is there any cheaper alternative?

4) Should I put the modem/router downstairs instead if it will save me $$$?

5) If the modem is downstairs, I will most probably have a weak signal upstairs where I do my work at the desk most of the day.

I am currently using RM88 4mb Streamyx. Satisfied user.
The Maxis Home that I subscribed to is RM118/10mb.

Stupid la.. still got Facebook problems.. Earlier today Facebook was alright now can't open messages, etc.
As in like content is not working, no chat sidebar, no ticker, when I click the comment box it doesn't expand, can't load messages, can't open pictures, and a bunch of other shitty loading problems. Piece of shit Maxis knows how to make the smallest of issues bug us like crazy.

I just converted from Unifi to Maxis Fiber yesterday but have many issues with Maxis Router/Fiber and would like to seek some advise if anyone encounter any of issue below and might have solutions to it. Calling Maxis helpline is hopeless...

• Test speed ok but download speed is <10kbps while torrent download hover around 300kbps. The test was done separately.
• No DHCP reservation on MAC address based on IP address.
• Some port forwarding does retain the setting after saving the configuration.
• Devices having the same IP address(wired and wireless).
• Some wireless devices(wireless printer) connected(test print successfully) to the router but the router does not show the connected devices on local devices.

Any custom router to recommend? Would it be possible to use the Unifi DIR-615 router connected to the fiber box instead? Just change the user id and password? Otherwise, I have to reconfigure all the devices IP address, port forwarding and etc...

Also, Maxis just change from home to public.

Do they grant everyone with public IP? What if they do not give public IP anymore?

Hi! Maxis user. I wanna clarify something regarding Maxis public IP. My alarm contractor advise me don't apply Maxis Home Fiber because they didn't give public IP anymore. I wonder if like this how we wanna install & view CCTV. Thanks

yep, i went from wireless to wired. even on 10Mbps, im super surprised at the speed consistency and stability

might get receiver to mitigate the weak wireless though
