it sounds much closer to the sr60 than any other phone within the price range that i've heard. how about this, find me something at no more than RM70 that sounds closer to the sr60 than the ksc75 biggrin.gif we will bulk that next time.

won't even bother making portable amps anymore. stopped all development on the sijosae class AB a few while ago.

the reason that i've asked CooBra is because medufsaid mention that Futura mentioned that he found out that the KSC-75 improved a lot from amplification. he got a few of my sijosae class AB to be tested for a while. and the question is there to confirm whether CooBra found the same thing since he also have one of my amps.

try burning the unit for a few while. the highs could be smoother, with better bass definition.

the most annoying part in DIY amps is the 'lead/wait time'. the exact reason i didn't ask for a full payment upfront. one part missing, then the whole build is stuck.

burn that thing for a few days and you should be able to get rid of those annoying harshness. hopefully.

got both of them.
KSC75 sounds like SR60 .... but it isnt really close when u compare them together, SR60 is way more fun to listen.

but for less than RM100 .... no complaints
they are the best at the price range. thumbup.gif

jst wonder any of u guys listen to this koss ksc75 yet before u join into this club?!

Or u guys just follow the hype?!.

rclxub.gif

if every headphone model got a fanz club..
i think mod should reorganized this sub forum to Senn club, grado club, Koss, sony.watsoever...

der are so many individual fanclubs popping here once a while.

^ and chernloon, wants some teh PPA v.2 to test? they have too much details.
not bright, but too much detail. have no word to explain it. but on live recordings, you could hear so many people clapping, saying things, background noises. heck, i could hear people speaking in the background while listening to my Search-Unplugged 'Live Di Timur Jauh' CD. sweat.gif

yo., koss kcs75 user report in.
first impression : when testing it at the putra station with my BEAN. it sound damn hell sharp.
but after 2-3 hours play, the treble is smoother, and bass begines to come out..
hehehe
not bad, really not bad for a phone cost RM 70.
will continue burn in and update a review tonight or tomorrow.

and my first impression also, it sound really like grado sr60. =-P

do know where you are coming from, if you are coming from the dark side, it will sound bright. as a matter of fact, LOTS of audiophile quality phones will sound very bright...much brighter than the ksc75 i.e. grados, sony sa series, at w5k, even the k701 is just as bright depending on what music you are playing through it.

one thing i gotta agree about the koss (ksc75 and portapro) is that their highs are somewhat harsh. eventhough the portapro is a darker phone, the highs are still harsh..guess that's koss.

Yesshhh...actually i think EX71 users would be happy with the PX100 biggrin.gif

Btw if anyone's wondering, it's pretty different from the KSC-55
The 55 is closer to a PX100 instead

I dont think burning in a different way is gonna change the sound of your headphones
So dont bother with a "special" kinda way of burning in

You might wanna read up on what burning-in actually is first

hmmm , lets give a quick review of this thing out of the box , havent burned in , ....

BOX : surprisingly enough , it actually took me a while to open the whole damn thing . maybe cause i was trying to preserve the box tongue.gif

the Phones : at first looks , i went like "eww , it looks worser than the pictures online" , but hey , i'm gonna listen for quality , not for looks or show off'ness . also surprised by the 4 feet cable , expected it to be 1 metre only . also took me a while to put it on sweat.gif

Plugged it in for first time , played a cd , when i reached the black eyed peas - lets get it started , after the "and the bass keeps runnin and runnin ......." at the start , i realised that the bass was like still very stuck up , at some times , even the higher tones were produced as low tones . maybe its cause of the un burned in state that its currently in......

i can hardly decipher what you are trying to say sweat.gif the bass on the ksc75 is good enough, quality bass i'd say. listening to black eye peased on the px100 and 650, the bass sound very phat and tad bloated...as if the sub woofer is about to explode any time. That's the impresion i get from both the px100 and 650's bass playing back RnB and similar genre music.

naah.. varies with each setup.
kindda like shi# goes in, shi# goes out. amplified of course. biggrin.gif

you need to have a good source, a good interconnect, a good headphone. plugging in a good amp into a not-so-good source, with a not-so-good interconnect and not-so-good headphone will turn out to be not-so-good output.

LOL, as for me, it kinda removed the muffled highs of ksc75 after the mod. Whereas grado's treble is really fatiguing, about 2-3 times the brightness of ksc75.

Tell me something bout Koss kcs75 against SR60..

I still think SR60 would be the best "portable" headphone...
U r a SR60 for over a year sure u can tell the major difference in a quick listen btwn both of this.

Bass supposed to be more defined, not much of difference in quantity if i'm not mistaken
Why not search up at head-fi instead of asking us here who have never done the mod?
All these stuff we read from head-fi anyway

It probably doesnt beat the SR-60 which costs 3-4 times as much
But i think no one here has said that it beats it, just that it comes close

But the SR-60 isnt acceptable as a portable solution for me, so i guess there's a matter of oppinion involved too

Btw, how did u feel the ksc-75 were against the sr-60?

Got my KSC-75. Thanks CooBra.

Yah bad packaging, nice sounding headphones.

As good as it sounds straight out from my ESI U24, it sounds even better on the mini-EPH amp.

I don't find it sounds like a Grado though on my system....

No I don't have SR60, but a HF-1(so called an enhanced SR-225). A fully burned-in HF-1 p4wn KSC75 in terms of depth, width, and the highs are more high end IMHO. Both cans are totally diff league, so not really fair to do comparison. The same thing applies to SR60 and KSC75.

SR60 portable? The cable is kinda bulky no? Tried my HF-1 during window shopping...not really that portable tongue.gif

The KSC-75 does beat the SHP805 IMHO, just not significantly. That's with amplification.
The SHP805 is more neutral, flat, boring or whatever. The Koss is more colored, engaging and more fun to listen to. KSC-75 is also harder to drive than the SHP805. Would like to see what PcWork thinks.

*edit*
Both the KSC-75 and SHP805 not fully burned in yet. KSC-75 about 5 hours, SHP805 about 1 hour only.

*update 15/04/2006*
The SHP805 is getting better after more burn in. So things might change.

Got my KSC-75. Thanks CooBra.

Yah bad packaging, nice sounding headphones.

As good as it sounds straight out from my ESI U24, it sounds even better on the mini-EPH amp.

I don't find it sounds like a Grado though on my system....
*
Can't wait to test that combo. I'm waitting for the amp to arrive instead the headphone. Been using it almost 1 year already. Sound good un-amped with my sony pcdp but with av710 + Edifier HA11 i'd prefer my hp800 better.

Overall, what i hate most is the messy meggi mee cable. Any suggestion for mod?

pre-burn (do I even need to burn it in? o_O) listening session,

nice bass, sounds a little bright(er?) than my SR-60.

aih....seems like ive lost 3 phones...time to order them again....i wonder what should i do with them if all 6 of them turn up at the same time LOL.

btw, the ksc75's diafragm is titanium coated, guess it is pretty darn hard when it's new. I suspect burning it in will indeed reduce the brightness. Afai am concerned, I did not think the ksc75 to be very bright smile.gif but the unit i tested was well used.

by the way, the new KOSS sounds very very coloured, and long time of useage can be very fatigue.
in term of bass producing, koss have better bass, and even better treble (a bit harsh for me). and it is very very "grado" sound, which firing every music straight to your ear. and sound stage is quite narrow.

for HP800,
bass is a bit weaker and roll off seems to be very obvious compare to koss. but anyway, with hp800, i can listen music more than 3 hours, but koss i have to take it down after 2 hours.
and sound stage is much more wider than koss.
and HP890 surely beats koss im my ear.. =P

if u try to listen to the stax headphone tester (dummy head recording) with Hp800, u can feel that the sound is 3D and musical instrument can be position in 360 degree around you.
but if you listen it through koss, you can only feel left and right sound. no 3D.

the phones are rather comfortable but a bit hard to put on though.. pull a clip off and went... OMG!!! lucky i managed to put it back
whaahha

this is the 1st hour after burning in..
dun really hear much difference but then, the bass is becoming more defined...
it seems tht this phones produces clear crisp sound and quality bass instead of those thumping bass.... suit me very well...
lets see what will happen after a few more days ya... but too bad my ipod cant stand so many days...
is it ok to change to my pc to burn in the sounds?

Was thinking, of crap...i broke another pair of Koss sweat.gif

Burned them in for many hours now, while testing my Mini's battery tongue.gif
I'm not too sure about this since my "audio memory" is crap, but i think the highs aren't that sharp anymore

sweat.gif seems like a few of us r having problem putting on the phones at the beginning, including me.i was wondering at first whether the clips can be twisted or not but soon found out that it can't.fortunately i didn't tear the phones in pieces whistling.gif
the phones fits tightly, won't fall off even if u shake ur head wildly but may cause some discomfort when taken off after long usage.it's one of the problems with clips but this seems ok for the mean time.

u can burn in with whatever u want...it doesnt matter. burning them in at higher volume will speed up the process. Assuming the phone is rated 32ohm, if you listen to a volume of 1 V (dun ask me how i got this..u need a multimeter to test it) the phone draws 31mA, if you burn it in at 2 V it draws twice the current and speeds up the burn in process by one more fold.

well when it comes to this question, it's all about common sense tongue.gif

just put it at the loudest volume you'd listen to, the phone can take more punch than ur ears. btw, my listening volume is at least 2 X higher than a friend of mine...so....it's not a very good gauge...but it's one way to determine the volume.

it seems tht the sound quality has been much more well defined..
the sound is so much more solid and it seems tht the bass which i heard to be lacking earlier on is now appearing in the sound...
i am loving this headphones more....
there is only one little thingy.... the design is not as cool as the ipod original buds.. but who gives a damn... the sound is so nice...

My thoughts on the Koss KSC-75:

1) They sound much better with an amp.
2) The love tubes rclxms.gif
3) I personally hate their clip ons.

Conclusion... fun phones, worth the money. I'm keeping my pair rclxms.gif But for now, back to HD650 tongue.gif

You need to amp them! Go try it with your LDIII, i'm sure you'll be in for some surprises! Can pinjam you my pair if you want flex.gif

yup, they certainly can use some amplification. but spending few times the money of the ksc75 on amps sweat.gif

but nonetheless, it sounds fun(read: not boring) even without amp!

at that price, for a portable piece, u cannot complain. try comparing portable earpiece, bud, canal phone at that price n u cant beat it..but when u mix it wit headphone, its a different thing la..but who bawah ur hd595 650 jalan2 out for a walk (well, hd555 n 595 still acceptable, but 650 is far too alienated for a vrisk walk!)

Bringing the HD650 out for a walk is okay... biggrin.gif

But luging the amp of choice (LD III, SOHA) out together in your backpack with some squirells generating power on some mini power generator is not!

i dun get if this is a postive remark or a negative one. You know if it is not up to your expectation you can easily sell it off with minimum loss/without any loss. i dunno if it's really hyped up or not, it is what it is. but if you had expected somethng that'd sound like the RM1k+ phones...then sorry to disappoint wink.gif u will need bucks to get those stuff biggrin.gif

Anyway, I seriously didnt get what the PX100 hype was about, but I surely get ksc75's hype and it's worth what it is. There was a head-fi thread "I believe the KSC75 hype now" laugh.gif

The ksc35 should sound like the portapro...geez....luckily i got a chance to audition the ksc75 and the ksc35's price was bumped up when I wanted to get them.

hey marquis, if you like the ksc75 more than the portapro but prefer the portapro ehadband..u can jsut remove the clip n slap it on the headband....but it will look a little wierd unless you change the whole outer shell tongue.gif

yes you can clip the portapro to the ksc75's clip. this has been done on head-fi biggrin.gif it will basically turn your portapro into an abominatd ksc35 laugh.gif same goes for the ksc75 >.<

yeah i think the px100 is seriously over...overhyped. it was said tha the px100 sounded so good that it should be banned from the street...so what about the ksc75? banned from the universe?

dun get me wrong.this is a positive remark for sure, excluding the hpye thingy of course.this is a great piece of cans in its class and btw the u-know-who-u-r actually exludes u my friend.haven't thanked u for bringing in a good stuff.kudos my friend!
what i meant by the hype is u dun wan things to get out of hand like the over hyped px100 rite?although this cans is like what kiljim said,'deserved to be hyped',just dun get over hyped ok.there's always something better out there yet to be discovered.anyway i won't be selling my ksc75 so no crazy offers ok. laugh.gif
*
well, i agree, not overhype. but the kcs75 worth the hyped. at least i was not dissapointed, except not so used to the high treble.
but hey, the KCS75 is tame now, the treble is like smoothing down, and not as sharp as while i get it, bass comming out too.
by the way, blurmak, if you wanna sell the kcs75, i willing to take it with original price you bought it. (RM69?)

Alamaklor : the Px100 hype might bring out to be a marketting strategies by senheiser. =P

Decent earphone only? maybe to people who have heard b4 high end headphone... cos to me (owner of humble hp895) it is damn cun..the moment i wear it, it overshoot my expectation....cant believe it is coming out from this cheapo looking stuff.

What i heard is very balance with very nice mid, love it so much. I even borrowed to my fren (owner of another hp895) for 1 day, n the next thing i know, he went to buy this clip-on earphone at a retail price.

i tried amp it with doctor amp n p2v2 n not much improvement compare to amp it to my hp895 ( But my ipod shuffle can run this thing much louder than what my current volume hearing.

The clip-on hurt? i never experience it... i even forgot i wearing it after hearing for 2 hours. I oso notice u must clip it properly on your ear to hear the full potential of this earphone which sometimes i clip it wrongly causing the sound to be quite distant.

Sorry to any of u who think i want to hype this product, but this is my honest opinion. i am one satisfied buyer.

Thanks to Alamaklor and coobra for making this bulk possible.

Fyi, portapro is not a neckband. It's a headband. The sportapro can be either but the sound quality is said to be slightly lower than the portapro due to the build and material.

KSC-55 has the same driver as KSC-75 ka? thats nice..since KSC-55 Titanium for RM75 at PcDepot while a PortaPro at Rm163.

but then..i dun really go mobile much and i prefer my SHE9500 for pure comfort and isolation (well, for me its uber comfortable)

after using my ksc75 for a bit , have another review

used for about 30 hours i guess

listened to black eyed peas - lets get it started again(for reviewing purposes only doh.gif)

compared it to my sennheiser mx500

and teh conclusion

highs are better than before , maybe slightly better than the mx500
mids are still a lil off , maybe need more burning in
lows , totally owns the mx500 , to think that when i got teh mx500 , i tought taht it had a lot of bass . now after listening to teh ksc75 , mx500 has liek NO bass at all

secondary conclusion , very worth it , may still need some extra burning in , but other than taht , all's good thumbup.gif

Go try the portapro tongue.gif I dunno if my friend had burned in his unit or not...So maybe the bass didn't really come out to play yet tongue.gif But when I compared the 75's to my portapro, portapro wins in the bass department, but the 75's is much more clearer. As in, I can hear the different instruments playing. The portapro has a bad habit of mashing stuff together. Not that bad lah. But not as good as the 75's thumbup.gif

But yeah. More bass doesn't really mean that it's better. But still. Nice to listen to techno (what alamak like to call AhBeng-ish music tongue.gif).

Or try watching a movie with a lot of scenes where things go "boom!". You'd soon get a headache using the portapro laugh.gif

Owh man...you're making me want to get the sr60 more! Grr... tongue.gif

I know what you mean about the bass though. Some stores in a certain area that rhymes with soo ng ai whar ng, tongue.gif the bass is pumped up so high you can barely make out what they're actually playing. Which makes it quite annoying coz some techno can be really good. And they manage to spoil it with their monstrous bass that distorts everything else. Might as well just listen to drum beats! Sheesh..

imho, only grados starting from sr225 and above are good for rock, techno, and other genre within the same/similar family. Anything below are OK but not particularly well. A little hard to put this in words...basically, if you want to get the best out of those music...get something that's 225 n above...if u want an introduction to the grado sound...then the sr60 is a good start (duh...tongue.gif)

I have a question here. Yesterday when I was listening to Enya's new album with my ipod, set the equalizer to pop, it has a 'bzzz' sound in some of the parts, but when I set it to 'flat'. The buzzing sound gone. I am quite noob in this, can anyone enlighten me? The buzzing sound appeared in some of the Fort Minor songs with some equalizer settings.

The buzzing sound appeared in some of the Fort Minor songs with some equalizer settings.

the ipod equalizer dont work on the headphone out, it distorts everything. it's not a new thing, DONT use the equalizer...unless u are using the ipod's line out

First of all, what I noticed is that there is a region of the highs are very sharp and thin. When I tested it last time, it didnt sound this bright.....so? burn in biggrin.gif besides this small anomaly, the phone is very very detail, much more airy than alot of other phones that ive tried....4 pairs of ksc75? ok...ill keep it biggrin.gif

MX500 is not bad as well....I forgot who told me about the mx500 is gonna sound like the pmx60....i gotta agree. the mx500 has very poor bass.....heh....and they wrote "super bass" on the box. the mid range is a little honky and not as detail as the ksc75. despite the lack of bass, the phone is not as bright as the ksc75. the mx500 is almost same price as the ksc75...if i didnt need the earbud...i probably wouldnt buy it...but it's for my gf anyway

EDIT: heh....the ksc75 is simply at another level....and the midrange is kinda recessed...

Do u think the MX500 is worth the average street price there?
I mean strictly for earphones, considering any other options around
Curious since it's supposed to be pretty good in that price range, according stuff i've read

if you are talking strictly about earphone....yes i think it is quite worth it...it's 11usd here. the mx500 actually sounded better than the AT cm7 (sold it the next day after i got it lol). the cm7 is more fullbodied, alot more bass....but they sound like shure e4...but less refined. i dun think they are worth 100+USD, so i just sold it off...i cant even use it with my psp...it sounds that muffled.

now when u compare the mx500 to the ksc75...i think it's a no brainer...we all know how good the ksc75 sounds. of coz for ppl who perfers a darker sound, and more bass, they'd probably pick the px100 over the ksc75 but i chose the latter.

I rank the ksc75 very highly...of all the stuff that i've heard to date....the ksc75 is far at the top of the list, pwning ALOT of very expensive phones and sitting side by side with many other well regarded, not hyped, phones. I also realised why would ppl recable them....to tell you the truth...i think for what they are being sold...everybody should own at least 2 pairs...i hope they wont phase out..

yup, the W5k has alot of aspects that i love, but as we all know, no one phoen is perfect. The w5k has very nice vocal, but also some coloration that gets into me more and more, which i now decided that is too much to bear(and it causes the tonal balance to go a little off). Aside from that, i did mention many times that soundstage is tad smaller than i'd like. the last reason why i sold it is because it doesnt see much use...more like a decorative piece...this is a problem with me...when i buy an expensive gear/stuff......i baby them so much that they literally become a piece of art. so i decided to jsut keep the k701 for now, who knows how long it will last....im unpredicatble tongue.gif

btw, the w5k is better than the k701, 6x0, and the likes, but you just gotta give and take and make a more practical decision sometimes, and i think the k701/6x0 and phones are more practical for me...i dun feel the need to baby any of them...i just toss them around use them as they were supposed to be used.

that is very noticeable on some brightly recorded albums. I usually use Koda Kumi -Best, and Genesis of Aquarion main theme to test the brightness....then i'll test the tonal with shania twain...for some reasons her voice is very "difficult" to reproduce properly...any small amount of tonal imbalance will make it very apparent.

you will know whether the in-line volume degrades the quality or not after you got it since some of you already have the non in-line version...comparison aint gonna be hard.

as far as i am concerned, i find that the mx500's control pretty handy..

if you dont like the control....cut it off n reterminate it lor lol or recable the phone.

btw, anybody interested in a portable amp made specifically for the ksc75? i plan to attenuate the highs a little and give it a little more bass...wonder if anybody is interested in it...around rm100+ you will need a mint tin and do the case work yourself....i can get them in kits or sell pre-assembled ones...most likely will be based on smd due to space restriction...biggrin.gif they will be on semi professional pcb...not veroboard.

well, im trying to do a review after ive been using ksc75 for 3 days (but im not that audiophiled yet). ill try to compare with inear ep-630 from creative

bass:

koss:i really like ksc75's bass. it is deep and clean but not sounds too bassy. it has comfortable impact.
ep-630: ep's bass is deeper but a little bit muddy and trailing, and it's impact is too high,if i put too much volume, my head will get dizzy maybe becoz it is in-ear type. sometimes the bass cover other instrumental sounds but not too much.

Treble:

koss's treble is crispy/sharp and has enough impact. but i have to reduce the treble thru equalizer for my personal liking. if not, it will be too high for me. one thing that i like is the treble fade quicker than ep. hearing techno music thru koss is a new experience. techno usually have quick repetitive treble sounds, and with koss, the treble is clear and not blocking other instruments like drums and others.

ep's treble is quite good but it's quite thin(not enough impact). it's not too high like koss and i dont have to equalize the treble.

clarity:
koss: with clean bass and treble, koss dont have any problem to reproduce instruments sound and voices with good clarity.
ep: i can say that ep's bassy sounds slightly cover overall clarity. but still, it has acceptable clarity.

that ends my review, i dont have too much experience in reviewing audio performance. it's limited to both ksc75 and ep630.

and off note, the bulky volume controller on koss is quite handy. i like playing with the volume while listening to music (while im not in public area). turning the volume outloud dont hurt the ear, but somehow give more deeper bass and better clarity.

even with sound check on ipod, some music are loud and some r not, i find it is handy to have volume control espcially when ur ipod is in ur tight pocket. i wish koss have smaller volume control and it could be a perfect earphone.
u can turn off the volume when u r gonna speak to sombody (without 'showing off' ur ipod ;p)

let's heard more ppl compare Koss 75 to headphone then..haha

Nice review. Irwan.
Did Kcs75 sounds good in Movie?
Recently, i watched Paradise Now. The source is Mp3 128kbps. Due to the sound is too Thin.
A few second only, i changed back to headphone. Hmmm... I will try more movies.

Koss kcs75 in Dance, rock, metak, acoustic all is really impressive to me.

Hey ya hyyam biggrin.gif

I just got myself a pair of she 9501. Initially (without burn in) I still preffer the 75's (based on my somewhat poor memory). Everything just sounds better on the 75s BUT it will have sound leackage. The philips don't have this problem though since it's an in ear.

I'll do my own comment on the 75s once I get them. Coobs finished his exam already! That means I'll get my pair soon w00t! biggrin.gif

For me earbud is really painful for my ears... and the pain later transferred to my brain area... I dunno why. That's what the ipod bud did. But KSC wont, good for my long hour listening.

SR60 vs KSC75
Here's a short one on the KSC75 and SR60. I had asked Phil to pick up a pair of sr60 just to compare them, thanks for the trouble Phil, really appreciate it. I was interested in how the KSC75 compares to the SR60, words were they both sound very similar...I had the sr60 but it was again some time ago and my memory on them has started to fade away. Nothing beats impression from ABing gears.

As far as the details are concerned, they are both indeed rather similar. The sr60 is definitely a step up above ksc75. The ksc75 sounded very thin on the highs compared to the sr60, bass quantity also seems to lack behind sr60 but they are equally punchy. Sibilance was more apparent on the ksc75. Aside from these quick notes, they are both very good budget phones. Then again, we are comparing a 15 bucks phone to a 70 bucks phone wink.gif I'd take the ksc75 for portable use, and for the folks who love how the ksc75 sound with more refinement but couldn't care less about portable...sr60 is definitely the way to go. I'd call the ksc75 baby sr60 biggrin.gif

alot ppl wonder the sound between sr60 and ksc 75

160 for portpro or ksc75?

Anyway, even my sister, with untrained ears (like mine is tongue.gif), says the ksc75 has better clarity than the portapro. biggrin.gif

edit: whoops. Read wrongly sweat.gif

Anyway, I think I mentioned it before. The portapro is more for bass heavy songs, while the ksc75 is more for balanced songs. I mean, you've got the bass when you need it, the clarity is slightly better too.

I haven't burned it in yet, so can't say much at this point

Request testing for

KSC75 Volume control and
KSC75 without volume control

in Sunway area (or nearby )

anyone mind to share ?

I will bring my SR60 along for comparison (since KSC75 is not close type so I will not bring my beloved EX71)

"you've got the bass when you need it, the clarity is slightly better"

If this is the statement only I will fully dissapointed with it ,anyway ,too many diff comment ,I trust my own ear ,anyone mind to share and let me test?

lgs, trust me, EX71 bass is really rubbish if you compare to koss ksc75 (without volume control version, at my hand)
and.... clarity is 5X better than EX71
=)
try imaging.
and we do compare to SR60 already. for music, KSC75 is sort of SR60 being through equalizer, but still enjoyable.
however, SR60 better a bit in bass, less a bit in treble, and natural a bit.
well just a bit.
me and dinodog compared it at "long john silver" shop at times square, last sunday. =)
and my conclusion is , for music, i like koss.
dinodog also said the same things, and he said, SR60 is better in movie.
so it's no harm for you to get ksc75 for music only, it really unbeatable.
and for movie, the treble a bit too high. =) use back ur EX71 so that ur ear not fatigue.

I am using SR60 if my situation allow.

the only reason I use EX71 is when I in noisy place, bc SR60 is open type mah .

After using SR60 ,I feel EX71 is quite crappy but the things is I like the bassy feel when I am tired and the noise canceling function which I need.

got plp say its so so.

anyway ,I think I better test and c it worth me to pay RM65 a not tongue.gif

anyway ,with VC the sound quality will drop a not ah?

"listening more on good recording especially like Eric Clapton: Unplugged album - Layla. Tell me in which position the piano is and does the pianist playing with off beat? You will believe your Koss is totally out from the list."

I think for RM110, this earphone is rubbish...
Not worth buying... you would prefer a headphone like 890 or HD497 or even SR60...

But for RM65, its still okay... just dont turn the volume too much...
The high and vocal get a lil annoying at high volume...
Honestly I think it was over-hype...

HD497 n HP890 is not worth buying?
I regret selling my HD497 to my friend...

I bought two of them for less than RM300... hahahaha
So if KSC75 were to cost like RM110, i would haf gone like 'WTF!!'...
Not to mention where's the clarity of this thing... its way off though better than most earphone...

hmmmm, i'm not here to flame you like the rest.

but i'll keep your points in mind. Luckily my unit is going to arrive either tommorow or the day after tommorow, i can try it out and see how "over-hyped" it is biggrin.gif

Littleghost,

I dunno about you la... like they said, preference ma...
IMO, its overhype... it become like must get item...
Its just that I dont quite like how it sound...

1. Sound very thin...
2. Zero soundstage
3. Harsh...

But the bass is good for sure n it just doesnt haf the clarity compared to HP890 and HD497... it can blast but doesnt impress me much... so thats why i said its not worth buying for RM110... but for RM65, still okay lor...

haha... guess most of u guys are using the high-end headphone, rite?

Koss kcs 75 sounds alot better than a RM180 Senn mx550 earphone. And closer into Bright sound area like Grado SR60.

Zero soundstage.. waoh... first time heard of this description ...
Like Mono sound headphone..hehe..

R u listening to Stereo song?! Jst kidding...

It's true. Koss cannot compare to HP890 in terms of sound clarity/details. But not everyone would be glad to be a Hp890 Mickey mouse streetwear.

well, look at it this way, compared to my old seinheisser PMX-60's which i spent 120 on, these are MUCH better, I haven't had the opportunity to play around with other headphones so I can't really say much about how headphones X is better than Headphones Y. You call it hype, I call it a revealtion

dino,
well, it doesnt mean its mono when i said it has zero soundstage...
since you haf listen to HP890, I tot u would haf the same impression...
when u listen to 890, it sound like a hall or something... sounds doesnt play inside your head... but ksc75 is playing directly between the ears... ouch....

seta,
it depends on what you are comparing to...
if you had a full headphone b4, then u will have difference opinion...

Dun get what u mean... are u trying to say this is my first bright headphone? Dont u think HP890 is bright too?

Anyway, BRIGHT, THIN, HARSH are different....
HP890 is somewhat bright... but KSC75 is harsh esp with the volume crank up... if moderate level, consider okay la but sounds the same, thin.....

I agree that it's over-hyped tongue.gif
But i'll have to disagree if you're saying that purely based on the fact that u dont like them that much
Try all the good headphones out there, there's bound to be some that u dont like
That doesnt mean that those other ppl who told u they're good were over-hyping them, just that it isnt your cup of tea

you are comparing a 70 dollar phone to a 180dollar phone and call it rubbish biggrin.gif I can always take my more superior phones and compare it to the 890/497 and call it $h!t laugh.gif

the phone is not overhyped if you take into consideration of the amount of true rubbish phones in the market at around or higher than its price. IF the ksc75 is rubbish, I'd have to say that the ex71, she9500, xd200, and many othes phones are the deepest sh1t in the rubbish dump.

If you listen to very loud volumes on the god, I'd recommend the senn px100 instead. as a matter of fact, I can't use the PX100 at low volumes and I also can't use the ksc75 at the same volume as px100.

If u got something even better, say a HD650 @ RM100, dont go around telling ppl all other RM100 phones are crap la
If u were buying them now, how much would they cost u?

I think the EX71 & 9500 is hyped simply cause they're the cheapest canalphones available locally and from a "famous" brand
Ppl would think "It's a Sony/Philips, it's gotta be good!" laugh.gif
Plus lack of experience with other stuff of course

MMhmm...THe she 9500 is indeed overhyped. It's only good coz it's canalphones...and its cheap tongue.gif And it's slightly more portable coz form factor-wise, it's an earphone biggrin.gif After being used to bass-heavy headphones, I don't understand the hyped bass of the she9500 sweat.gif But then I'm comparing a headphone to a canalphone tongue.gif

For the price, the ksc75 definitely owns the she9500. Using both now.

if those who had read too much review about them and had too high of an expectation and now feels disappointed about it, I'm really sorry for you. I hope you guys take reviews with a grain of salt, if you buy things mainly becasue of reviews...you're gonna end up with lots of disappointment because different people have different ears. This was not meant to be a "must buy" item, it is you guys yourself who wanted to jump onto the band wagon, nobody forced you...as for why...perhaps you guys read too much review? I bought it becasue I thought it sounded very good when I tried it and it was dirt cheap..so why not?

If you don't like the phone, sell it off, there'd be lots of people willing to grab it off your hands....after all, there are only a minority of people who dislike them and I found them to be those who prefer warmer sound. If I don't like something, I'd just sell it off...complaining about how bad it sounds to you when there are much more worst things out there is imho...fruitless.

btw kapitan, attitude like that is not called for. I presume you are still a high schooler.

Ouch.

Well a word about reviews since we're at it. I find it better to read all the bad reviews first. At least that way, you'll know what shit to expect. Like before I got my zen micro. And before I got my 20gig 4th Gen. I knew what to expect that way. And I also knew how good it could be. Reading only the postive review is perhaps the fastest way to burn a hole in your pocket. You'll be lucky if you got the same taste as the reviewer...Or if you got a the same good set. But if not...Then you'd be left with not only an empty pocket, but also a broken heart...

I usually only take reviews seriously from people who seem to have similar taste as mine. the best way to find out about them is obviously to try them before you buy them, or buy them used, try them, then sell them off with minimum loss. This way the next person who couldnt try them before buying would have an opportunity to listen to them first smile.gif again, at minimum loss.

I said it's a crap IF I've bought one for RM110... why? I bought HP890 for RM109... GOT it?? Thats why I said its still okay when you buy one for RM70...
*
brother, i got my HP890 for RM 40 from IJAN, and yet i get another 2 pair of KOSS, now i owned 3 X koss ksc75. and what you expected from a RM65 headphone? and for it, it's the best i can get with the price.
by the way
i had compared to the BOSS TRIPOD headphone cost RM 580 in KLCC recently.
powered by BEAN. and i can confidently announce, KOSS KSC75 (RM 65) sounds better, and more clear than bose tripod RM 580 headphone.
so what you expect?
i make myself more comfortable by thinking, hell this RM 65 sounds better than RM 580 headphone. hahaha
so sue me, i am poor (don't know read it from where.)
by the way, why i think HP890 is WARM????
it's clear, but bass is some how cover the treble.. correct me if i am wrong . pls
TQ

QUOTE(dinodog_Jr @ May 23 2006, 09:09 PM)
Cheers up guys. He is just sharing thoughts.

kiljim, ijan's HP890 is putus one side, but after i repair it, it is working as good as new pair. =)
so RM 40 including postage from penang to KL.
RM 15 extra for gum, acrylic sheet, celotape, drill head..bbla bla.
so it's RM 55 at all =P
hahaha
but i don't think when comparing to koss, it is superior,
both of them sounds different characteristic.
i love both of them.
hahaha

but
after using it for 2 days, it sound almost the same
i assume it is because of burned / not burned.

Hmmm, got mine today, can't say much about them (yet) except they sound better without the pads >_> bass is a lot less sloppy this way. However for some reason, the bass doesn't really beat the electrostat in terms of quantity (no point in comparing quality whistling.gif) unless I push them towards my ears.

Having said that the KSC-75's bass without the pads isn't bad at all =D doesn't have the same texture and all that high end baloney but still not bad tongue.gif I heard that the KSC-75 can be quite siblant without the pads, but so far its ok, nothing piercing yet. Could be because the mini-hifi's headphone out is a bit more on the warm side...

i second this, i think they are a little bit too bright and cold.

Maybe after breaking them in the situation will somehow change?

i tried with a warm, bassy source (A1000, and some old cd players) and the cold KSC 75 isnt even close to warm, still a little bright to meh, it's nice if you can tame it out with a warm source.

the cushion thingy lah, so its nothing but plastic and my ear >_> its ok because the plastic isn't even pressing on the ears.

maybe its because my ears are getting used to brighter equipment... aego 2 then electrostatics >.> bit afraid that my hearing is turning bad already :0

hmmm, the more I read replies like that the more I think something's wrong with my hearing sweat.gif

oh yeah, about the volume pot, using it can add distortion to the sound. (like an annoying crackle, thought my shuffle ran out of juice until I checked the volume pot)

edit *again* nevermind found the harsh treble biggrin.gif definitely my ears getting used to that kind of stuff... a few months ago this would make me wince whenever I hear it but now I can almost ignore it...

edit again, I heard that giving the KSC-75 a new driver housing works wonders (SR-60 housing... biggrin.gif) anyone with a spare housing to try that? or who wants to build one just for the ksc-75 *hint* pcwork *hint*

waoh.. SR60 as koss kcs 75 housing. Wouldn't this sounds like a rich mod hobby..hehe

Somehow, I feel like putting Koss kcs 75 into the Creative Bluetooth headphone ..

Btw, anyone of u feel Koss kcs75's sound is a little harsh for some music.
Perhaps a headamp can help u to tame down that sharpen details.

I wonder someone will put One side wif Kcs75 and another side of SR60 driver in the headphone.
WOnder wat is the outcome..?!

got my 75 yesterday and it's superb!!!!!!!!!!!!! here's a quick tutorial on how to put them on :

first the tip of the hook face down, keeping the hook away from the earpiece, slide it down as far as possible while using on finger on the hook, then while holding the earpiece only, turn the earpiece clockwise for right ear, counter-clockwise for left ear~

p.s. : spent all night pulling my ears and ended up learning that i dun need to touch my ears at all, just the headset~tongue.gif

anyone have trouble putting them on?~

no idea how much it will cost you, try to claim local warranty smile.gif tell that it broek and dropped. Seriously i dunno how could this happen....mine got pulled off a couple of times but there is no way you could lose it.

here's another tip...if your ksc75 creaks....take out the eadclip...apply some vaseline in the clip's hole...that will fix it...if u dun have vaseline..just take same lip balm

u could just hold it, the small metal ball, then bend it to fit your ear.
do it nice and slowly, and at ur own risk. =)

brother, not really, but she9500 also does the almost-same-job in isolating noise, as she9500 don't really isolate =P got leak. some of my sony earphone 13mm diaphragm can seal my ear better than she9500.
haha
but as sound quality is concern, koss75 is considered one of the best.

They're clip-ons, so there's barely any isolation at all

well, not that bad. just imaging the she9500 is isolating sound like a normal earphone. u don't really big different, except the superb overwhelming bass. good for movie.

I've read from head-fi that they're both using the same drivers so they should be similar, but i'd disagree with that
Have a broken pair of 55 and they sound very different from the 75s
Most obvious thing is that the 55's bass is wayyy stronger biggrin.gif

suggestion to all koss ksc75 user, better buy a small handphone bag, to keep your koss inside. if it drop, it will be inside the bag also.
=P
thats what i am doing
i still look for nice casing that is hard enough to protect it from exessive bump.

it's not fragile, it didn't damage at all mah
just it easily drop off, u can snap it back
if you scared u might lose it, adjust the position and super glue it.
so u will never lost it.

gives you guys a good reason to buy more than a pair tongue.gif

I've thought of gluing it some time ago...but decided not to....ive pulled off the clip several times when i accidentally snagged the cord. The clip came off....but now....imagine what would have happened if this was super glued.

well, yeah for back up.
at first bought 1 pair. tested, love it. so buy another 2 to keep.
reason :
1 . i can't afford other super expensive headphone.
2. hard to get, and i afraid i killed mine, or, just like you, somethings MIA. so at least i got back up.
3. sub RM 70 nothings even come close to it's sound quality. i need it for portable use, and most of the time, when go to faculty/library. after heavy study, i let my self enjoy high quality music. yeah it's AWARD for me.

i plan to find some cheapo headphone head band.
cut it off at the join, put some silicon gel / epoxy to make it firm
or use dremel to drill sort of the hole to clip the koss driver on, make it shape like portapro.

You should put them on first tongue.gif
Well dont bother much about burning in, unless you've got nothing to do with them in the meantime just start listening to them right away

Oh, you'll probably take some time to get used to the clips
Just test on how to bend them and which way fits u best

Burn in a headphone doesn't mean it will improve 50% or 100% from the first time listening experience on the related headphone.

It will only improve slightly. Let's say 5% to 25%.
Some ppl got a very speciality ears drum. some ppl just a bit numb on this side.

I, myself is pretty numb to my SR60 & Koss75 in the burn in process.
I only know my SR60 special perfume(comfy) fade away around 8 months of usage.

If u want efficiency "Burn In", get a headamp. Turn it up.

Burn in headphone is another overhype term to me(sometimes).
Perhaps it only happend to use on high-end model..

else if

case of Numb.

brother, no no. Sony discman MAX is design to power those passive sony speaker, don't try it at ur ear. that's why they have AVLS.

just burn it at ur normal listening volume, slightly lower at first, then back to normal after some time.

by the way: off topic, advertise : i am selling off one of my KOSS, NEW. refer to musical garage sales.

QUOTE(david890701 @ Jun 3 2006, 01:33 AM)
Okay, got tat ..ahahah
Thx alot guys biggrin.gif

sorry i sounded a little bit harsh , forgive me .
*
Ok ok...was ready to go into flame mode, but nvm biggrin.gif

My point was, go look up on what burning in is and what it does. Instead of how to burn in
Then you can think for yourself when ppl say tell u stuff like how to do it
You'd get some pretty hardcore suggestions sometimes laugh.gif

ab means comparing it side by side/ switching to headphohe "a" and headphone "b"

the koss after burn in, the treble not so harsh. it will become smoother. that's the different i can hear.

headamp is ur headphone's best friend ... Get it now~!
I only felt the high treble can being tamed down thru headamp.
Now, i oso wonder issit Headamp got bright & Dark(warm) sound effect?!

btw, david u neva sounds harsh to me in ur questions.
This is a place dat ppl share their thoughts & question for an answer in peacefully.

Btw, u dun need to spent too much attention bout the burning in effects on ur Koss. It doesn't happend to everyone's ear.

Just use the phone in nature way.

Do worry too much about getting criticized. There will always be ppl who don't like the way you express yourself, just as there will be those who do. It's life.

I believe you can get some custom built for you in this forum. I will not put the links here since it might be misconstrued as advertising.

My personal opinion is that while `burning in' equipment does make a difference sometimes, we cannot easily quantify whether there's any real improvement. If the equipment seems to sound better, it could simply be that your flexible brain has become more familiar with it.

The KSC75, great as it may sound when matched with budget sources, will show up its limitations when input with better material.

His handwork looks pretty promising.. Better be quick.

Else once ppl hobby fade out then susah nak cari this nice lubang again..hehe.

If someone did a good job. It is fine to advertise. Else, some new ppl dunno how where to find the lubang oso.

*
I think the "highs got a bit more mellow" effect really is just mental burn in. Heck even the SR-5 feels more 'mellow' now, and its at least 8-10 years old by now =P

... either that or the NOS transformer's capacitors were burning in. Hmmmmmm.

I will verify if it's a mental thing, or not later. I didnt claim that it is certain though, hence "i think". I do belive in mental burn in however, that's why I really dun like to comment too much about pre-burn-in and post-burn-in differences nowadays unless there are 2 pairs of phones to AB the differences.

i already compared mine koss withoutvolume control from alamaklor, and brand new koss with volume control from irwan.
the one without volume control indeed have more enjoyable treble.
and as i can remmember, it was quite harsh when i first recieve it. bass were not good. sort of pecah suara when blass it with sort of techno music.
but that got sloved within 1 hours of playing the koss.

The KSC75's have never sounded harsh to me - maybe because I always play them soft to conserve my hearing. But they are definitely bright and sound like the loudness button is permanently switched on! Could this be why so many ppl are impressed when they first hear it?.

well, does anyone think their KSC-75 sounds better with burn in? I haven't detected any differences in mine. (to be fair the SR-5 gets far more air time dry.gif)
*
I've compared a old pair ( which belongs to a friend of mine prolly about 2 months old i htink ) with a brand new one ( Using my friend's zen micro ) which i got from irwan. There is a slight difference, for me the older one sounded more comfortable the sound isn't that sharp/bright/orHowEverYouDescribe. Sounded Deeper i think ( I just don't know how to describe it tongue.gif )

Nah, it depends on your ears mainly
The brightness was never a problem for me either, just that they are brighter than most
Whether it comes to the point of being harsh or not is up to the listener biggrin.gif

haha..why so gila bout koss75 until need to do a Sig.
It is one affordable item by anyone who is into music.

Anyway, comparing speakers to earphones.. this is the first time i heard of.smile.gif

Try music wif hi-treble instrument such as cymbals in trance or thrash metal...the cymbals could hurt ur ears a little..
And the music source is very important to let u hear the details out.
